(Wake up and)

Wake up and turn I loose
For the rain is falling

Got to have kaya now (Kaya, Kaya)
Got to have kaya now (Kaya, Kaya)
Got to have kaya now (Kaya, Kaya)
For the rain is falling

I feel so high, I even touch the sky
Above the falling rain
I feel so good in my neighborhood
So here I come again

I got to have kaya now (Kaya, Kaya)
Got to have kaya now (Kaya, Kaya)
I got to have kaya now (Kaya, Kaya)
For the rain is falling

Whoa-whoa, yeah-yeah
I feel so high, I even touch the sky
Above the falling rain
I feel so good in my neighborhood
So here I come again

I got to have kaya now
I got to have kaya now
I got to have kaya now
For the rain is falling

Get up and turn I loose
Wake up and turn I loose
Wake up and turn I loose for the rain is falling
Well kayaman, kaya, kaya

We'd get a long just fine.  I named my cat Lively from Lively Up Yourself.  {#Good-vibes}

It's strange that I've loved reggae since my early 20s (my spliff and Red Stripe era) but I never really got on with Bob Marley's music. I recognise his genius and importance, but his music always leaves me cold. My loss, I'm sure :(

You like anything if it has a political dimension.  Look, it is fine to like music for the politics.  BUT, I don't think that is the reason it gets played on this station, and this is a crucial aspect that you are not getting.   The songs that get played here are played because they please people's ears.  This is not a political web site and you seem to come here more for the politics than the aesthetic pleasure the overwhelming majority of us come here for.  It is good to comment on the social dynamics of music, but could we at least discuss relevant issues, not 19th century polemics?  What's going on in Europe/UK?  I'll bet you have some interesting things to offer, and which people can relate to. You obviously are a human being, so you must have to crawl out from under your rock once in awhile, eh?

You're not alone! Dull, repetitive, whining music. No idea of the appeal.

Everybody in my church loves this song...

And yet another song I haven't heard from a musician I like. Thanks.
My former brother-in-law named his cat after this song.

This song is soooo good for the ears...

Sounds like Bob Marley.
More reggae but less Marley please.

If you've heard one Bob Marley song, you've heard them all, as far as I'm concerned. Am I the only guy on the planet who DOESN'T like Bob Marley?

I love this song!!  Thanks RP!  After last night's election I am hung over on happiness (and maybe a little tequila..)
One of my favorites. Thanks, Bill.{#Heartkiss}
Can't say I have heard this (ever).

Sounds great in the high humidity of my cozy home.   Gotta get back to real humidity in Jamaica.

I don't know if this will help ya out .. I'm not a guy, but I don't like him either.
My least favourite Marley album, but this is a terrific track. Should be followed by "Legalize It", "Smoke Two Joints", "Purple Haze", etc, etc.
scuse me while i lite my spliff...

Wow! My fav. song about pot, and I missed it last night. I'll just have to go home and give it a spin. I've got an autographed copy of the album you're seeing at the top of this page. I met Bob at an in-store record signing in 1979, and a friend snapped my picture (which I've got framed) shaking hands with THE MAN! He had his "dreads" up in this giant, multi-colored cap, which has to be seen to be believed. I don't usually like to tout my life's greatest "brushes with fame", but this is #1.
Having just heard Albert King's "Born Under A Bad Sign," now we come to reggae, which mixes painful lyrics with hopeful vision and great cheerfulness. JAMS!
Ya Mon!!! :sunny.gif:
Whoah, that was surreal. I was just starting to doze off at my desk (you know, the afternoon sleepies), and I suddenly hear the whispered opening of this song - "Wake up, wake up." Well now I'm awake. :) Thanks RP, the sometimes-alarm clock.
love this tune!
got to have kaya........ please play!
