Lyrics:

Blue light is flickering
Through the city streets
One billion TV sets
Glowing off concrete
One day closer to death
I know that I don't have too long
Whatever happened to soy bomb

Lunch box collector loves all the pussycats
But when he goes to bed
He wonders where he's at
Thrift store shirts and old haircuts
Living in an old sitcom
Whatever happened to soy bomb

The day is coming when you'll have to think of it
Was it really worth it
All that shit

Blue light is flickering
Through the cloudy sky
On billion lonely hearts
Beat until they die
One day closer to death
I know that I don't have too long
Whatever happened to soy bomb
Whatever happened to good music?

Don't use google as a verb for god's sake. don't do it. just don't do it. It's not damn verb.

If "Go ogle" is a sufficient sentence, why would the lack of a tiny space so infuriate some?

I grew up using a mangle and, bereft of it, I still miss it.

Ahem...since the word "verb" is a single, countable noun you need a determiner, in this case the indefinite article, "a." Your admonishment should have read "It's not a damn verb." People in glass saunas shouldn't throw stones. P.S. Google is a verb.
I just visited Poland. Wyszkow, and Pila. Cool country...I noticed how the younger generation are really standing up for change.
Nice, reminds my of some of the Rugburns tunes...

Um, that's the whole point of the lyrics, is it not? The utter pointlessness of the egocentric "if people see me, I exist" culture of today.

Settle down there pup. It's just an expression. If we watch Conjunction Junction, What's your Function . . . maybe someday it may be a verb.
..oh I hope and pray that it will but today I am still just a bill

According to the latest edition of the Oxford American Dictionary, Google is acceptable as a verb. English is an ever-evolving language, my friend.
couldn't agree more

This is frigging hilarious!
I had a friend who dressed up as soy bomb for halloween.
Ha ha! This is the first time I've heard this song. I immediately knew who Soy Bomb was. I don't know why, but I was actually watching the Grammys that night. Probably about the last time I did!

Oooo, a fine segue! Eels -- Whatever Happened to Soy Bomb into The New Pornographers -- The Bleeding Heart Show

Qué rayos le pasó a I AM BOMBA?

Having read all the posts, it's just taken on another dimension. I've been a fan of the post-modern irony of Eels since I heard Novocaine for the Soul back in the mid 90s. This is the first track I've heard from the latest offering and I might just have to get on Amazon now (linking from RP of course)......

The "Soy Bomb" -- Kikkoman's secret doomsday weapon!
Also, it has a Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) air. Good music, but what a silly song. . .
I guess I'm in the minority, but this track, like the rest of the album, is such a borefest.
once again, soy bomb upstages dylan

So that's what happened to Soy Bomb :)
brilliant. brilliant. brilliant. the eels are proof that irony post-9/11 is certainly alive and well. thank g-d.
That's a bloody great story. According to Wikipedia, he's a performance artist...
Ha ha ha... oh my God, this is wonderful. I'm like, a good Republican and all, and this fits with most of the music whose message would never correspond with anything I believe in... BUT... I'm a huge fan of pop culture, and Soy Bomb is one of those things that will be with me 50 years from now. What a great song. Even better, is the lead in to Bob Dylan. lol

Funny! I always thought the translation of "Soy Bomb" was "I am the bomb"! Which is also pretty funny if you think about it.....
I knew there was more to this... Here is the site of the Soy Bomb people for the curious: https://www.hiphopmusic.com/soybomb.html
Somebody set up us the bomb! /obligatory
I was hoping the song would answer the question. Dang.
I started to laugh the instant i saw the title, Eels are just friggen awesome. psycholynx wrote:
