Well they're putting up a building down on Main Street
Paid for with all those truckers dues
And the man who laid the first stone on the corner
Had the Jimmy Hoffa Memorial Building Blues

People will say that Jimmy went to Argentina
Others say that he simply changed his name
And a surgeon made him look a little bit like Nixon
But aside from that, he's still pretty much the same

Chorus
Where's Jimmy (2x)
It's a question that we'd all like to know
Where's Jimmy (2x)
Well he's gone to where all the good old boys
All the good old good old good old boys
He's gone to where all the good old boys all go

Well the boys who own the union all said to Jimmy
Here's what we are prepared to do
We're going to build the boys a brand new union building
And we want you to dedicate it to

Well I heard that, down at the dedication
From the kind of guy who has a nose for news
Jimmy died of terminal cement poisoning
And the Jimmy Hoffa Memorial Building Blues

Chorus
Where's Jimmy (2x)
It's a question that the world would like to know
Where's Jimmy (2x)
Well he's gone to where all the good old boys
All the good old good old good old boys
He's gone to where all the good old boys all go

Well they said here's a thing that we can all be quite proud of
As they laid the wreath upon that corner stone
Here's to freight and the great American freeway
And the very man who helped us make it all our own

Chorus

But I thought he was buried in the end zone at The Meadowlands--or parts of him, at least.

Actually,  Exit 16E, New Jersey Turnpike! ...they are going to build a Memorial Rest Area for him there!    (sarcasm on the memorial)
Hiccup.
Dave's got a little bit of a Leo sound going on with his guitar on this one.

not sure why this is a strange little song...maybe vis-a-vis his other music? seems pretty straight-ahead to me (if a bit silly)...
Try "More than Eva Braun" (Yes, that Eva Braun) from the Live in Tokyo disc. Even weirder and more twisted. Same songwriter, Danny O'keefe.
Havent heard Lindley in a long time...thanks!! Always a fun show if you ever get a chance.

No Way! I heard him do this In Park city a month and a half ago. He is The Man!
He's a pro. He seems to knock off quality music with a carefree style and a playful sentiment. Unpretentious and truthful stuff.
Wow! A song about Giants Stadium . . . or is it the koi pond in Senator Bedfellow's backyard in Bloom County?
Don't think this is his best material. Play "Talk to the Lawyer" etc! But Lindley is always welcome.
