This song rocks Meghan - it's extremely catchy and there are many more strong songs on this album.
Okay this song sucks in so many ways I didn't even want to rate it, however the only way I can help to kill this song is to lower it's average.
Why do I hate this song?
This girl was up late one night and came up with some pithy comments that she felt were really profound cause she was probably high or drunk or had spent that past 13 hours complaining about her boyfriend to her friend and she thought that she had a MESSAGE. She wrote them down in her little journal was like "wow man, totally..." The fact that she repeats the stupid hourglass line OVER AND OVER makes me want to tell her to SHUT THE HELL UP!

Judging by how difficult this song is to sing because you have to BREATHE precisely, this ain't no "drunken bitch session." Well crafted - I gave it an 8.
I sense anger disproportionate to the power or quality of this song. It certainly has gotten a lot of attention, but it seems to me that the RP rating average of ~6 for it tells it all - it's a "pretty good" song.
Could the fact that I, personally, bumped it all the way to a 7 have anything to do with the fact that she appears to be a total hotty based on her album cover? Hmm . . . possibly so . . .

Jump on the band wagon while you still can folks. To put Anna in a category such as Ashlee Simpson, Kelly Clarkson or other current pop singers is comical. Anna writes all her own music and lyrics - listen to Breathe a few more times and you'll see there are three different stories being told, woven together throughout the song. There really isn't any other recent songs that combine lyrics, music and a singer's awesome voice like Breathe. Sarah Mcl. is a geat singer but her songs do not match Anna's level when it comes to lyrics (then again, not many do). Anna has an incredible voice that sounds even better live. Her concerts, which include many of her other songs not on the CD, rock. She played to a packed house at the Paradise in Boston in Oct 2005 for an hour and 45 min and left the crowd wanting more. Like I said, join the bandwagon now folks - you'll thank me. Breathe is the just the tip of the iceberg for this girl.

Nor should the 46 year old females.!
...or 40+ males. This is a well written song, unlike the pap that is played on most pop stations. It's OK, you can like something even if it's popular and/or overplayed as long as it's a good song. :)

Nor should the 46 year old females. I like it because it's a great song to sing along with in the car (with 20 and 14 yr old sons moaning in background)!

Forgotten, no. They should be locked in the basement, in a cupboard, with the lights off. Especially if this is what we'll be listening to otherwise.
This is demoralisingly poor. It's so life-sapping I can't even be bothered finishing the sent....
Edit: She is quite cute though. Maybe a good, enthusiastic strumping would cheer her up. Worth a try, eh?
O.K. Bill with these last few... trying to get me into the tears of my soul... I'm trying to put on mascara... while I'm listening... f*ck maybe I'll just cry a puddle. I really do like this song.
Irrespective of (but appreciative of) everything everyone else has said, I still find myself nodding my head in appreciation of this. btw does anyone else hear Lifehouse here?

Sorta like earlier Fiona Apple without so much angst.
I'm not so sure about that.
How unfortunate that this has to follow the last few songs. Like putting whitewash next to a gorgeous mural.
edit: This is the whitewash, btw. :)
Someone below said she's got a future ahead of her, and I can see that. But this is definitely a freshman offering. I think she's the one who said all her songs here are basically her diary entries... and, I'm sorry, but just because you didn't bother editing something you wrote before setting it to music, doesn't mean it's good.

Not that it's bad, it's just a bit mainstream.
packaged teen gurl angst.
ready for the WB
Sorta like earlier Fiona Apple without so much angst. Not bad.
I don't have cable but this one belongs on the soundtrack for one of those Lifetime for Women movies of the week...yawn

Love this CD! One of the few that my 11yr daughter and I agree on. And to think she (Anna) is only 20yrs old!
pbm
I like it! Seems I could have written it... ... me & my poetry. Anyway reminds me of those with strong interpersonal connections who are intune to what others feel & is able to empathize.
What to say... """standing naked in front of the crowd... my words are my diary screaming outloud... ... you'll use them however you want to.""" Now, that's about letting yourself be vulnerable! Have not heard it too often- don't own it. Still like it.
I've heard it on those rare occasions that I listen to commercial radio, but this was in heavy rotation on the muzak in the store I used to work in. Not a bad song, but I'm sick of it.

Decent lyrics... good hook...
Sometimes you like vanilla... as long as it's sincere.
Add another to the pantheon of bleh-blah boy/girl songs.
Don't call us, we'll call you...
Next!

Love this one.
Whoa! I heard this on corporate radio first. Liked it then, too.
This disc is a recent acquisition for me. Very solid. I'm looking forward to hearing more from her.
Anna Nalick has some serious songwriting chops IMHO. Not the best track off this CD, but she's got a great future ahead of her.
Excellent song, though starting to be overplayed a bit on commercial radio. Wow.
