"Young man, control is in your hand, slam your fist on the table and make your demand." Young man needs to learn some manners... Was also going to put a silly comment "my name's Matt, but I'm no yahoo" but I found out that Matisyahu is in fact the original Hebrew version of Matthew... Actually, I quite like the rock/reggae crossover feel of this. Gets a 7 from me.
why is this on RP . this joins only a few select songs i reserve for a rating of 1

You need to relax and put away your backside. A burning white hatred for me because I used a word you don't like is just stupid. Save the indignation for something important. Feh.
Love Matisyahu. I think his new album is great top to bottom with one exception - This Song- which is dreck. With a new record full of fun material, how did Bill pick this one?
Time for a fashion makeover. Not enough bling.

Translating Hebrew into phonetic English leaves a lot of room to vary spelling. Yours is as good as mine, as long as you get the "r" and "l" in there.
This transliteration problem is true of all modern members of the Semitic language family that use a non-Roman writing system. Heck, even English has problems spelling itself, so it's pretty much hopeless. Let's all switch to the International Phonetic Alphabet and be done with the whole mess.
This is fairly weak... How about playing some real reggae... but I guess its good for some variety...
not a big fan of the rapping jew.
What music is not contrived?
Give me a break...this is so contrived, not to mention annoying.
If Jewish performers want to add discordant cultural elements and try to amalgamate, let them try. Yes, I too was irked. I am just plain tired of reggae. Is this the Jewish rapper who performed in March 2006 on the awful TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live? Because that sounded like clever rap without the ill-conceived reggae.

I like spelling it out in speech, as M-E-H. Does that make me a bad person? I also use l33t in an ironic context with other computer geeks, so maybe I'm totally doomed.
Is this radio paradise I am listenning? :( I may try to play this for my fish and see if they like it, hehe
Again? Totaly overplayed. I'd play once in a year, maybe.
most annoying!

Saw this guy 2 weeks ago in SF. From a distance he reminded me of Weird Al when he did that music video Amish Paradise. Anyway, he had a great stage presence and lots of energy. Definitely a fun night.
Is no one else irked by the fake Jamaican accent? C'mon, he grew up in White Plains, NY for cryin' out loud. I'm all for cross-culturalism, but I think this is just plain ol' marketing. Feh.
So this guy refuses to shake a female's hand?? Didn't expect to learn more about Jewish law on RP. Great song though!

I thought it was yarmulke--then again I'm not Jewish so what do I know? ;)
Google searches show much variation in the spelling. Probably depends on what language you're going to and what alphabetic translation system (Hebrew -> Roman) you're using.

I've heard about this guy, but this is the first time I've heard any of his work. Pretty good. Hope to hear more.

Hah, hadn't thought of that. Pretty good angry young kid music. I like it.

I'd only listened to the short samples on iTMS... thanks RP for exposing this guy to me! He's getting a lot of media coverage, so I was curious.
I really like it!
hasidic reggae? who'da thunk it? not too bad though. I like his stuff better than that stinky Sinead O'Connor Reggae album they play here.

Is this Jewish Reggae? Come on..
Why not!
