I think my brain is skipping. Can someone nudge the arm please?
Maybe it's just the last set.
The Flaming Lips - It Overtakes Me
Soft Hearted Scientists - Diving Bell
Of Montreal - Wraith Pinned To The Mist & O...
Shivaree - I Close My Eyes
wow.. as much as i loved Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots and Soft Bulletin, I quite dislike this song... perhaps it's one of the ones on this cd that I've heard is 'not so great'... but the rest is supposed to be pretty sweet. *shrug*

What the!? Ok, now the 2nd part sounds nothing at all like the same song, and is quite nice. Quite moody and (dare I say) ethereal. If the song was only this last portion, I'd like to hear it again...otherwise, I can't get past that first part.
the second half is what makes it.
This really is pretty repetitive, and the chorus' melody is not very agreeable...

Too bad negative 10 isn't an option!
I'm overtaken. I'll log back on later when I've recovered.
The first time I heard this, I gave it a 1. It's now a 7. I guess it overtook me.
This really is bad
Just when you think it's as bad as it could possibly be, the Chipmunks join in. . . .

The first few minutes are pure aural terror, but the end is quite bearable.

Wow, for once I'm not with the majority of RP listeners....I dug this a lot! 8/10
Give it a few more spins, it'll grow on you.
Me too djblitz! It didn't need to grow on me, I liked it from the first listen!

YES!
I bought it after RP had already made me a believer in the "Yoshimi" album and rushed out to buy "Mystics" the day it came out. After giving it one full listen I thought I just bought my latest drink coaster...then I figured I'd give it another shot. Hmm, some of the songs were cool that time. By listen 5 or so I was fully into it and I like it more than "Yoshimi" now. Go figure!
I can easily see that one song plucked out of the rest doesn't really stand on it's own though. If your fealing brave...go buy it and listen multiple times.
okay, this is my first sucko-barfo, just had to.

Thank you RP for Lips! What a remarkable release from one of this country's best bands.
where is the 'never play this song again' link?

Good album cover though ...

My first reaction is "holy crap this sucks!". Perhaps that'll change over time.
I had the same reaction, but hey, on second listen... ...nope, nothing has changed.
Hey, I think this song is called "It Overtakes Me." Oh look, I was right.
... It Overtakes Me! ... ...
Belongs in a Hitchcock movie. I like it! Do you think Les Baxter would be doing this kind of music today if he were still around?
Did Porcupine Tree listen to Flaming Lips?
hate it. one big repeating loop.
This is a seriously mood-dependent song. It has annoyed me in the past, but today, I'm kind of bopping to it.
"it wakes and bakes me" .....ahhhhh, those were the days
nice bass work. Lovin' it.
There are some Flaming Lips songs I like. This sure isn't one of them. What were they thinking?
Edited to add...
The suckageness of the first half of this song gets stronger with time. Down from a 3 to a 1. The second half is like something from Sigur Rios...not unpleasant as the first half, but nothing that'd make me rush out and buy the album.
This song doesn't do much for me (especially that line "it master-slaves me"), but I much prefer the silly Lips to the serious Lips (see "Do You Realize").
please - never play that song again. i beg of you.

I Cant wait until Sasquatch. I am sure its going to rock. I think we found a place down the road where there are no rules against drinking, fires, and "what not".
The Lips have been playing Uncle Frank (Zappa) lately.
I don't want to like this song. I really don't. But I find it quite likeable...

This is the second helping from the lipless wonders today...c'mon lets have a little more diversity rather than 2 from these guys.
