Well, I'm goin' out west where I belong
Where the days are short and the nights are long
Where they walk and I'll walk
They twist and I'll twist
They shimmy and I'll shimmy
They fly and I'll fly
Well, they're out there a-havin' fun
In that warm California sun

Well, I'm goin' out west out on the coast
Where the California girls are really the most
Where they walk and I'll walk
They twist and I'll twist
They shimmy and I'll shimmy
They fly and I'll fly
Well, they're out there a-havin' fun
In that warm California sun

Well, the girls are frisky in old 'Frisco
A pretty little chick wherever you go
And they'll walk and I'll walk
They'll twist and I'll twist
They'll shimmy and I'll shimmy
They'll fly and I'll fly
Well, they're out there a-havin' fun
In that warm California sun
Yeah, they're out there a-havin' fun
In that warm California sun

Don't ever fckin say that again, even in your own head. There's not a surfer in the world that says "shoot da curl". Just tilt your head to the side looking dumbfounded when faced with anything surf related and we'll be good.

This song sucks almost as hard as you do.. 2.

Wow, you're a clever boy aren't you.

You obviously don't have much experience with surfers. Fact is that most surfers are sick of the mainstream bastardization and co-opting of all things surf related. Pick any activity you do that you feel a special kinship too and imagine it bastardized by every wanker on Madison Avenue.
And to ick: Not a New Break local, but I do surf the Cliffs. {#Wave}
1964 surfin' culture.
Geez, when was this, like '65? What a far more innocent world we lived in then. Pools and skateboards...

In '75 in High School I had a '63 Riv like the one on the album cover. It was a heap, but had a big block V8. Even though it burned oil and had a valve knock, I was able to beat a rich kid in his brand new Camaro in a drag race out by the refineries in Martinez. Very satisfying even now, more than 30 years later. My girlfriend at the time was riding with me, along with some buddies who egged me on. She was extremely pissed that I raced, dumped me that night. It was worth it.
This song In a "Apocalypse Now" by FFC  soundtrack, who is remember.. "Outstanding" my wote

Man, I had this 45 when I was a teen!  I thought it was a cool tune.

Wasn't there a connection with this group and the Ramones?!?!?

Well the Ramones did do a great cover of it.

Eat your heart out, all of you non-Californicaters.
The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk plays this song in all of their commercials.
And, I hear it a lot.

Nice to hear a proper version of this tune!

That's OK SmackDaddy, buckskin could be from the Valley or San Bernadino.  I've heard people from there talk like that. {#Lol}

Must be a Newbreak "local".  They're kinda uptight.

I'm not really "tubby", and not yet 50.  Okay, you got me on the balding part.

But I originally discovered this song when I picked up the Ramones Leave Home album 30 years ago, and this is a cool cut whether or not its original "connoisseurs" are now senior citizens...

man, i thought surfers were all chill?  why do you seem like such a...what's the word...a...dick?

Conclusive proof, as if any more were needed, that youth is wasted on the young.

This takes me back to the mid-sixties.  Great time for me as a youth discovering music and all.

Yeppers! Like some inventive young Beach Boys still facing a promisng future.
i guess the only positive about this is that it's only played on RP about four times a year. I'll have to time it better in three months and not be listening when this is played again.

Tommy James did a cover of this on his first album--there Bill check that out.
Does the tempo of this song change between the verses and choruses? Sure seems so.

Just got back from the Land of Sun! Thanks for the encore!
First punk song
OH MY GOD! I played with these guys! I was just out of college, 1991, and working for American Family Insurance in Indianapolis. We had a company party and these guys played the main ballroom of our shindig. After the second set, they invited our Branch Manager up on stage as he was an accomplish musician (guitar). He then invited me as I was a life-long rock drummer and he knew I had toured with Molly Hatchet. (opening act). So, we played some Wipe Out, Steve Earl, and wandered our way through some other stuff. It was a blast. Thanks Bill
Just for the heck of it follow it up with "Wipeout." That'll getcha goin.'
What a strong set-- 6:43 am - The Rivieras - California Sun 6:39 am - Los Lobos - Good Morning Aztlan 6:36 am - Steve Miller Band - Going To Mexico 6:32 am - Wall Of Voodoo - Mexican Radio This is a great older tune. Cute!
California, the bright star in my sky, the place I go to in my dreams
way cool! Takes me back to, um... I forget. But it was good. I think.
Sweet Jesus, I haven't heard this song in a long time!
