Up and up and up I climb,
When I came up I was so far behind,
My head takes a lickin',
But my heart keeps on tickin,
Just the same.

Always startin' over but somehow,
I always know where to begin.

Round and round and round I ride,
And just when I looked I hadn't even began,
To feel the effect,
A cool, dark fever,
On the brain.

That feelin' takin' over,
Like a holy rollercoaster,
To the grave.

How can I await the day?
And last the night I'm here to see?
How do I await the mother lode?

It's the art of feeling naked in your clothes.

Again, again, again I tried,
That's how I knew I would never be denied,
That face in the mirror,
Who could it be? It was my own.

That cool, dark figure,
That's when I knew I was alone.

On and on and on I drive,
When will I know I have finally arrived?
So far I've gone, so far to go,
It never ends.

Always starting over but somehow I always know where to begin,
Always starting over but somehow I always know where to begin,
Always starting over but somehow I always know where to begin.

Young and old at the same time. Me likey.
good tunes but a complete f***wit
see his 5G, covid conspiricies - dip5h1t
Too much reverb on the lead vocals.
Coulda sworn this was Neil Young
echoes of compassion (is that a red and black 45 box? kinda sweet : )
Wow, I can't believe I haven't heard this song before now. Lovely! I can feel my heart rate and body relaxing as it plays... really. {#Good-vibes}
I miss THIS MMJ. The new stuff is OK, but this is what drew me to them.
perfect listening for a rainy afternoon as it is now over here in Essex sunny england

Again on this morn....as I pack my life away...

i started my love affair with the jacket with "at dawn".  i think it is a really accessible album and the sound on that album is AMAZING, if you like their reverb i guess.  (personally i LOVE it.  that album was recorded inside an old silo.  wonderous...)  any way you slice it though, they are all different and they are all good.  dig in!  itadakimasu!

Agreed... Z is a terrific album.
That said, the first record I purchased from them was Okonokos (live album).
MMJ are so good live, and that album not only shows off their skill, but it gives a good selection of songs.
It includes the best from Z, as well as other work.

This jacket fits perfectly this morn..
Oh, how I love this band!!!
Definitely in my alley!

I love the way they use the pedal steel, it carries the song... Yeah, sure love this!!

cool tune!!
Cool tune!  Reminds me of Neil Young with the guitar - but much better voice on this song.

Actually most RP listeners like them. Don't go by the comment page - go by the ratings. Most people don't take the time to comment on a song - the silent majority like My Morning Jacket.{#Smile}

Count me as the minority! I can't stand em and for the life of me just don't get all the hooplah over them!{#No} Oh well! To each his own, viva la diversity!
just what the doctor ordered. (for this headache, that is.)
MMJ is never the same band twice. Pretty cool.

all the negative comments. . . . MMJ allways trick me.  I hear this great sounding, unique tune, then out of pure curiousity, I have to check to see who it is.
. . .only to find out most of you think they suck.

man, I guess I just have no taste - I like something different now and then. I like them. Thanks RP for playing them!

"well said, well spoken, b.g."
Very beautiful and haunting... 9!

this band formed in 1998 has been faithful and known to keep its proper identity, also has fact enormous progresses in the way to make music, what it is a factor of great importance and that i appreciate. -

Sounds Like one of those "off- year" Neil Young Albums that didn't quite work out. (and Yes, I'm a huge Neil fan).
Something about the caterwauling singing really rubs me the wrong way.  Normally I like this kind of music, but the voice ruins it for me.  Reminds me of REM at its worst.

I generally agree. But I like this song.
...by ending.

Glowing review of MMJ's Friday night concert at Radio City Music Hall in this morning's New York Times. FYI for MMJ fans.

I love these guys. Great music!
Just announced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Begin with the End in Mind!
What's Ben Hur got to do with anything? I really must get these ears washed out...
this song sucks!!!
Reminds me of David Gilmour

The movie was light weight romatic fluff (Though Brown's Hotel in Louisville sure looked good) but the music was great... the Freebird scene at the end is worth renting the DVD... I was crying and laughing so hard
The Brown Hotel is beautiful and historic. In fact, we stay there every time we see MMJ in Louisville (it's their hometown, dontcha know). Great band - way underrated, if you ask me.
Now Bocephus if you were from the SOUTH this wouldn't bother ya'.

A lot of echo and yelping vocals doesn't make you the next Beach Boys. Way overrated. I just don't get them.
You're right about one thing.
Ahhhh that lost and lonely country reverb sound. Quite evocative.

the local station here (non clear channel and decent new rock) plays stuff from "Z" "off the record". This is more country western sounding. Its ok, these guys can rock though.
Ruckus only knows two songs and one of 'em's Freebird.
sucko barfo!!
I've read about MMJ in Mojo magazine, but that's the first I've heard them.Nice sound.I look forward to hearing more.
YIPPPIIEE! You just made my day Bill! I was sitting here trying to study and Jim's voice started resounding in my ears. So now I'm taking a break... Thank god for MMJ!
Where to Begin? My Morning Jacket never disapoints!
sound like....................... Neil Young?
