See my love is asleep on the floor,
In a pose that's familiar.
See my son will just send you to war,
If the battle don't kill you.
I've a change in mind,
Calling all the time.

But I don't want to live at your side
Though the rose is vermilion,
'Cause I find it so hard to survive,
Without when within you,
My sweet Lavinia.

All my children asleep on the floor,
In a fire in the winter.
I don't know if I've been there before,
But the colour's familiar.
I've an age in mind
Calling all the time,
For my sweet Lavinia.

My sweet Lavinia.
For my sweet Lavinia.
My sweet...

My sweet Lavinia.
My sweet Lavinia.
My sweet Lavinia.
My sweet Lavinia.

Ohh. Ohh.

( Alternate Verse (live version):
All the years buried under the floor and the wounds in the parlours
Would have come up to greet us before if it werent for my heart cause
Give her name in mind its calling all the time )

Yes, I find this group is growing on me as well.  I like the way the singer's voice so well conveys adolescent yearning and intensity.

I was wondering the very same thing...{#Stupid}.

Something about this song grabs me when it starts. Maybe the cello arrangement. It holds promise, but almost delivers. Want to hear more of this band.
I couldn't give a better summary.

I LOVE THE VEILS!!!!  I'm so sad they broke up.  Album 2 wasn't as good as the first.  This whole CD was so amazing.
You know, the vocals ARE terrible. But for some odd reason I don't mind at all. If he started singing Rigoletto, it wouldn't work. But as "bad" as the singing is, it adds to the particular sound of this piece of music, making it rather interesting, at least to my ears.

Tom Waits.
Bob Dylan.
Bryan Johnson.

et al.

At least its not some manufactured autotune pop-vocal.

I like Black Labs too - great dogs to go walkies on the mountains with.

Does this singer have a bad case of adenoids, or what?

Very much reminds me of Black Lab.  I like it, but I'm also a Black Lab fan.
I don't get the Lavinia / Lucia dichotomy.
The Canada Goose, so fierce, with teeth on its tongue.
I agree, his voice is a bit contrived.

Despite his duckish voice (or precisely due to it?) I really like this...

Here ya go...
Happy now?

See my love is asleep on the floor
In a pose that's familiar
See my sun will just send you to war
If the battle don't kill you

But I've changed in mind
She's calling all the time

That I don't want to live in your side
Though the rose is vermilion
And I find it so hard to survive
Without when within you

My sweet Lavinia
My sweet Lavinia

All the years buried under the floors
And the wounds in the parlour
Would have come up to greet us before
If it weren't for my heart because

I've her name in mine
And it's calling all the time

For my sweet Lavinia....

See my love is asleep on the floor

In a pose that's familiar
See my sun will just send you to war
If the battle don't kill you

I've a change in mind
She's calling all the time

But I don't want to live at your side
Though the rose is vermilion
Cause I find it so hard to survive
Without when within you

My sweet Lavinia
My sweet Lavinia

All the years buried under the floors
And the wounds in the parlour
Would have come up to greet us before
If it weren't for my heart because

I've her name in mind
It's calling all the time

For my sweet Lavinia

Lucia my love, in the darkness shine
Lucia my love, and you're not mine
Lucia my love, in silence so long
Lucia my love, no promise no more,
Lucia, I walk this unknown
My Lucia my lover my own
Lucia, my love, i leave here soon
Lucia, my love, my life's over when I come home
Lucia, Lucia... two three four

tee hee!

Let's see: it would go something like, "meooww!!!!; blurble blurble blurble; Meow meow meow MEOOOOOOW; BLURRRRRBLE!!"

I don't have a problem with this one.  I even like the vocals, but then again, I'm not into sweets....
WOW what a great sound not only the voice but the whole production is a welcome new sound ... Most Excellent ... well done RP once again ...

Truly awful. My first 1 rating, too.
this may be my first "1" rating...

Love this song, may be because I don't need to understand the lyrics (still difficult to me to get it at first listening). May be I am being lucky?
guess that car in the cd cover is very popular

I don't hate the vocals — I actually sort of like them. I just wish the producer had mixed them a little more behind the music.

My, my this poor gent needs pain medication and possible hospitalization.
I do so hope he gets a room with padded walls, you certainly wouldn't want
him spreading his misfortune.

i am noticing a very common theme on RP - mostly very repetitive songs

I am with this comment - give the vocals to some other artist

please!
Uninteresting, whiney, and it drags on.  Cheer up for cryin out loud
{#Curtain}
Love this song and if you get a chance please check out the video for it.  Excellently made and just melted when it draws you in.  Can't say where or I will give away part of the musical journey on film.
{#Cheers}
Authentic post-addiction agony - misery bleeds through hemorrhagic voice.
Lavinia is a Shakespeare drama character right?

Hits a fine line between annoyish and appealican.  So far, I give it a 6.
I came across the room to hit MUTE, which is very rare for me.
2
Lovin it emmotional
3 in a row, depressing, groaning tunes.  Gee, what a way to end a workday.... sigh!

Hey, I'm glad we live in a time where pretty much anyone can produce a decent sound from their laptop, exponentially increasing the number of musicians publishing albums. But at the same time I mourn the consequential decline of SONGWRITING... This song sounds good, but there's nothing to it. Solid 2.

right and everyone with a keyboard is a critic
relax and enjoy the music maybe you'll find a chord change you like

This is quite a soulful song...even if it's a tad bit over the top.

I echo earlier posts re: this sound sounding reminiscent of a Jeff Buckley song. But I like it - and moreso than many others it seems...
Most excellent. I should upload some songs from the other Veils albums.

I've purchased 1 CD from this band and, based on what I've heard here, they are quite good. "Every change in dynamics is conventional." Conventional by who's standards? I'm certainly grateful I don't dissect a song in the same way you do.

Happy Friday, Love this song, I imagine a man signing to a beautiful woman who really doesn't know he's alive.
Oh dear, I like it{#Wave}
UGH.
Yea, this pretty much sucks on every level

Started OK, but got a bit repetitive for me.
Amazed people have a problem with his voice. My first reaction to this song: What Robert Plant song is this?

Too original for you, I see you tend to like mainstream rock.  Maybe you should find another
station, because RP is not going to play just mainstream rock and pop.  Actually your local
FM is probably where you will find the kind of music you like.  See ya!!!!!!!!!

That was Baa-d.
Where'd this, " Lucia," version come from?
Wow, Sure is a lot of hate here.

And this isn't even a Neil Young song.
Then I'd join in.

As it is, this is a great song from an equally talented band.

I hear a less smooth Jeff Buckley. Not bad...
Great song!
(I love depressing songs (call me EMO :-) )
my goodness, what a depressnig set!

This song is boring to me.

i thoght it's suede first...good song
{#Music}

Sounds like the lead singer for The Waterboys

it was ok at first, but man, the name got painful there at the end

Although his voice is decidedly different I kind of like this, I love the melody, the music, a lot.I guess I must like "different". But what is up with Lucia?
I think it's time to take the singer out behind the woodshed and give him the "Ol' Yeller" treatment, for his sake and for all of ours. My ears are bleeding...

This is brilliant, a beautiful love song.
that was very nice
This tune has grown on me. It has a smokey bar sort of feel. Reminds me of a long time ago sitting there staring at a pretty girl, but never getting up the nerve to talk to her....
Let go of this poor guy's nose--he sounds terrible...

Please. This guy's voice is sheer torture to listen to. A solid 1 for that alone, nevermind the music. Thank god for the mute button!!

Ooh this is completely different from the version I have

This is the first time I've heard this song. I love it. Some very mean comments posted. I love the raw vocals.
Somebody please put the cat out of its misary.
I really like this song, the vocals are raw and moving. The music just makes you want to float, a nice combo!!!!!!!! Perfect!
I veer only from "God, this is so annoying" to "It's not quite so bad as I remember" - today it's annoying to a migraine inducing extreme.
This gets my vote for worst song in the RP library. It simply hasn't grown on me at ALL in this entire past year. And I've given it many a chance. Sorry Veils, you suck!

I quite agree!!!!
This is raw and brilliant - his voice has actually got something compared to so many snores out there - I love it.
This is DREADFUL - please make it stop!!!
I'm usually rather sensative to bad singing, but this really moves me. Although, I can see what it would drive other people nuts.

This is a noble goal I too am pursueing.I know the guys a great musician.Kind of scary that him and Phil Collins were allowed to sing together though.I would think NATO should have stepped in and stopped that one. I would even cut a Bush family member slack for nuking Genesis.Damn irresponsible not to.
Only if they nail the Almann Bros. first. Gabriel is fantastic. Collins needs to shut up and play the drums. You need remedial music appreciation classes. ; ) And I won't cut the fascist first family any slack. Ever.

LOL! I'd like to get that engraved somewhere--especially where my husband could see it. That being said, I rather like this song. I'm sort of split on the Veils. Their song that was played yesterday did nothing for me, but this one does.
Great album cover. Not sure how I feel about the song. meh.
