Lay low why don't ya now?
Lay back awhile and I'll show ya, I got the good that you want no
need to go and, hunt something else, it's right here with me, when you stay.
It's always good when I get to see that there's never more than what you're telling me when you
stay, home.
Lay low if the feel is right, (let the fetus rock) I got all that I want here in you tonite and we'll pass out
on the bedroom floor after goin like this (full tilt) so long.
Hold up, you showed me.
Oh what you told me, it's not what you want but what you need it's not
a head full of booze (pills) or amphetamines, when you stay.
It's always good when I get to see that there's never more than what you're telling me when you
stay, home

Saw them live at Red Rocks in 2023. If you get a chance I highly recommend that everyone try to do that. This band is amazing live and in general.

Do not use my work for anything at all without my permission.
At the moment, right now, not in the mood for this music at all...
So let's wait next time
So let's wait next time
i'm getting to think that tunes like this are more fun to play than they are to listen to...wankers would know what i'm talking about, or not, which is even worse
The thing that amazes me about MMJ is that every song has a completely different personality. They're never the same band twice.

Oddly enough my wife and I were listening to Dogs were Barking by Gogol Bordello. At the end of the track it went onto the next one, which happened to be the RP playlist, and this song came on. What a serious buzzkill.

Was in the mood for some RP mellowness...
Instead I get this.
Wow, these guys went from a band I really disliked... to one I really, really like. Nice having an open musical mind...

Auspiciously average

Not for me . Not to be snotty , but I'm well beyond. . . . Our universe is so much larger than these guys's next glass.

It's obviously not a strong point of yours, my friend. You should read your previous post again.
How very big and clever of you! Let's look up the poster's ratings and try and belittle him based on them. Doesn't change the fact that this MMJ track is dreck and if you like it well no worries, you'll get over it
The comment was directed at you, so if you use the phrase "belittle him", why wouldn't I assume you were talking about the artist and not yourself? Perhaps "belittle me" would have been a better way of phrasing it. If you are challenged in some way, other than in musical taste, I do apologize.

If you had offered a constructive criticism of the song rather than lumping it with the "tedium of all these guitar led marathons", I might have believed you actually were offering something more informed than a snide opinion.
Continue to, as you put it, "belittle" him as you wish. I find it much more entertaining to belittle the uninformed.

What a horrid band. I have yet to hear the lead vocalist hit the right notes.
More MMJ. One of the most refreshing bands to come of age, kudos !
wow - I take back the bad thing I said about them on a previous comment... I think I'm needing to see them live to appreciate things!
cool guitar solo
And here I thought they might be listenable once they got out of the recording silo and onto a stage.
As it turns out, his voice really IS that annoying and wailing all on its own, and the instruments are pretty bland.
All MMJ, in the studio or on the stage = 1.
In design they say, 'If you can't make it good make it big.' This song makes me think, 'If you can't make it good, make it loud.'
Just Announced!!!!!
This one sounds much better when it's muted.

Truly a band that has developed their own style in which they visit aspects of Bloodrock, Moody Blues, various blues guitarists to build a unique style.
Sorry guys. This music world contains more variety that just the Shins, Neko Case or the White Stripes. I know it's Monday but lighten up.
Anyone who thinks that My Morning Jacket is crap has poo in their ears and less than poo in their brain. My Morning Jacket has a sound that is epic and Jim James has an amazing voice and energy. Clean the poo out of your ears Jacket haters!
Enough already! This is the worst piece of droning crap that I have heard....

For someone new to MMJ, what would be the best album to pick up first to get into their sound? Have enjoyed everything I've heard on RP from them. Thanks!
Jim James, you are just too fucking cool.

I concure, when I first heard I thought it was some old Allmans that Wild Bill dug up.

Aw crap, not what I wanted to start my day with, next channel.
Fly on Free Bird!
One of the best bands currently in existence, in my humble opinion.
Glad to hear a band that still knows how to jam. The only band I've seen in the past few years that actually jammed was Dave Mason. Must be a dying art.

ok, Scott and Justine and Scott, this doesn't translate well to RPlay. Okonokos is best experienced on the DVD very loudly, just as MMJ is better live. Possibly the best show I've been to.

i would take an entire station of this song over and over again.
I like it too! Screw the vocals, but I like the good garage band guitar and drum work.
I have to agree w/ Shimmer - pointless noise...
I have an outstanding rating on this but I don't ever remember hearing it before.
i probably would have liked this more if someone hadn't called my attention to the vocals. :(
Ya Know, I liked that.

I've never been a big fan of the wailing wall of guitars sound, but this I like. Of course, I've liked everything I've heard from MMJ. Is it possible for a band to be able to transform annoying musical styles into good ones?

Joe Jackson's Fools in Love to Lay Low. Another great and unexpected segue!
Thanks.

But I like it.
I think that's WHY I like it!
Definitely shades of Lynyrd Skynyrd's guitar stylings. Didn't they have something like four guitarists at once?

This is one of the bands I can thank Radio Paradise for introducing me to. I\'ve bought a couple of their CDs as a result.
Gideon is a rocker too.

It just went on my 'to buy' list. This does remind me of skynyrd/allman bros.... And that is a good thing.
Damn it. I need to get something from the printer, but... this song won't let me leave my desk!
...yeah, what shimmer said. except the liking it part.
Damn, I gotta see these guys live. They kick butt....oh, hey, they're opening for Dylan at...wait for it...RED ROCKS! Sweet Jesus.
extremely mediocre, nothing new, sounds like a bar band
I always thought their studio albums were recorded in my old high school gym. I like the full sound of this.

I think that deformity would be a lack of teeth and lips. Conclusion: he is a zombie, and this song is about his quest for delicious human flesh.
