Are you really here, or am I dreamin'?
I can't tell dreams from truth
For it's been so long since I have seen you
I can hardly remember your face anymore
When I get really lonely
And the distance causes only silence
I think of you smiling
With pride in your eyes
A lover that sighs
If you want me
Satisfy me
If you want me
Satisfy me
Are you really sure that you'd believe me?
When others say I lie
I wonder if you could ever despise me
When you know I really try
To be a better one to satisfy you
For you're everything to me
And I'll do what you ask me
If you'll let me be free
If you want me
Satisfy me
If you want me
Satisfy me
If you want me
Satisfy me
If you want me
Satisfy me
I can't tell dreams from truth
For it's been so long since I have seen you
I can hardly remember your face anymore

They broke up. He was WAY too old for her anyway. She's like 17 and he's 40.

Saw them in Boston a year or so again. On my way to the arena came upon a Busker and thought "wouldn't it be great if Glen and Marketa came across him". Well halfway into the show Glen tells the story of seeing this very busker, he invited the guy up and he played using Glen's guitar. An amazing monent.
Not seen the film (shoot me: not even heard of it), but liking the song!
I love this mystic lusty song

I cannot believe this song gets such a high rating. Breathy, barely in tune voices...I must be missing something

Im glad with RP...I thought that never included this album in their playlist...
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

Enjoyed the movie, enjoyed the soundtrack, big 8.

I agree with some of the other comments in a general way — I liked the movie, but found that many of the songs don't stand on their own as well as I'd expected.
But this has been the exception for me. This is the one song I've heard in isolation that I've really liked on its own merits.
Funny, I feel exactly the opposite. I thought the movie was sweet, but the songs standing on their own touch me in a much more personal way. 9 for this one.But this has been the exception for me. This is the one song I've heard in isolation that I've really liked on its own merits.
The slow pace grows upon one with each listen, and it ends up enhancing the melancholy and yearning at the crux of this art.

Sort of sounds like a bad French tv commercial. Meh.

I never saw the movie, but think this is a really pretty song. I like it more each time I hear it. I may have to check out the rest of the soundtrack.
Since it was a major part of a very well liked movie, its possible the people who like it (myself included) aren't really rating the song as much as they are the movie, the character, and the singer who performed the part (aka, a holistic thumbs up for the whole project). Its quite possible, though as I say, I'm biased, so as far as I'm concerned its just an interesting theory ;)

That's all very well and good for the film—but this song (and much of the soundtrack) is so WHINY. If I want whine, I can just turn on the local top 40 station.

Ok,ok, just read your message. I know exactly the distance between NZ and the little, strange country in the west, simply crossing the Tasman Sea, because I sayed a while in both countries (but for me NZ is the one and only true down under... ;-). But you have to agree. NZ is much closer to the Sydney opera house than good old Europe, isn't it...??
Hope you have a great summer there, I really miss your country! inindian wrote:
I'm a lttle confused by this or am I missing something...did you mean people should go from New Zealand to Australia to watch the show in Sydney, it could be a little expensive, or maybe you've got New Zealand and Australia mixed up...or they've moved the Sydney Opera House to New Zealand

Better, I think, than Cruise. No restraint in Marketa's voice. I am probably biased b/c I just fell in love with the movie Once this week.
First thought it was Anna Terheim...then heard a little Sophie Zelmani......then just Marketa. Haunting, nearly Juliee Cruise.

Thats right, if you come from NZ then I have a hint for you. Glen and Marketa will perform a show in the sydney opera house in January. Best wishes from Germany to the most beautiful end of the world! Krischan Josephine wrote:

If by unrequited, you mean Glen's character's girlfriend left him, then yeah. If you meant Marketa's character didn't love him, then no. I think she wanted to be friends from the beginning.
This movie made me cry over the fact that I haven't been writing music and wishing that I could find my musical soulmate. I love all these songs.
There's a point in the movie when he asks her if she still loves her husband and she replies in her own language. She actually says "No, I love you" but won't tell him what she said. So I'm inclined to agree that there's some unrequited love between Glen and Marketa's characters.
