Shapes of things before my eyes
Just teach me to despise
Will time make men more wise?
Here within my lonely frame
My eyes just hurt my brain
But will it seem the same?

Come tomorrow, will I be older?
Come tomorrow, may be a soldier
Come tomorrow, may I be bolder than today?

Now the trees are almost green
But will they still be seen?
When time and tide have been

Come tomorrow, will I be older?
Come tomorrow, may be a soldier
Come tomorrow, may I be bolder than today

Fall into your passing hands
Please don't destroy these lands
Don't make them desert sands

Soon I hope that I will find
Thoughts deep within my mind
That won't disgrace my kind

It's also just not that great a song to start with. Always sounded to me rather stilted and awkward, especially with the somewhat over-wrought high-school-English-class lyrics.

Ditto

Obviously a fan (see username)... but this is just okay.

The real gem from this album (for me) is Heart Full of Soul. Would love to hear that here.
I like the original better!! This isn't bad.!

I hate to agree (see username), even I gave it a 6. To be fair, I don't much care for the original either (sorry).

The gem on this album is Heart Full of Soul.  I'd much prefer to hear HFoS on RP. On the R30 tour Lifeson and Lee did a great HFoS acoustic after the to give Peart a break after the drum solo.
The band didn't have an album ready to promote on tour and it was their 30th anniversary (R30 tour...was awesome) so they recorded 8 songs that were influential to them as teens. I think they did a great job, the whole thing sounds like they were just having fun doing songs that didn't need the complexities both musically and lyrically that RUSH is known for. Covers don't have to be critically compared to the originals, I just enjoy them for what they are.
nice version

As a huge fan, albeit a biased one, I highly recommend this album, especially if you're not a fan of Rush. I can see why some people aren't fans, especially because of Geddy's voice, which I find  toned down to accommodate these awesome covers. I'll go as far as to say that some are better than the originals!
nope

Why would you play this when you could play the original????

Definitely my favourite Rush song.  They played at our high school in the early 70s before Peart joined the band.  Great musicians but not one my favourite bands.
I had no idea this album existed. Thanks for that RP.
I had no idea Rush covered this song. It sounded different at first. Now I know why. It's not bad but I prefer the original better.
I kind of gave up on this band after the Power Windows album.  I've actually never heard this song.  Its pretty darn good !

Has it really been 15 years since this record.
I don't mind this version - it's a nice change.
MRQ
 really!

Love the Rushsters, but I gotta ask... Why?

I had always heard that it was a tribute to the people who have influenced them throughout the years.
yuk
I love Rush, but this somehow doesn't fit. They're not adding enough of their personality to it. I think they could do something a lot more interesting with what's really a plain song.
Killer version of Mr. Soul on this CD

If I remember, this is a collection of tunes that the band enjoyed from their youth.

This is a cool CD, not very long only 7 or 8 tunes I think, I'm away from my CD collection at the moment. Cross Roads cover is good.

I'm not really a fan of RUSH, but leave it to RP to dig these little gems up and then put 'em in the right spot!

Hmm. Haven't heard this before. I'll have to sit with it.

I sometimes wish we could rate the comments, not just the songs.

This comment gets a 1.

Never a Rush fan, but this isn't half bad. Kind of a karaoke cover version in that they didn't add much to the song, but just did it pretty straight forward, but overall, not bad. It does bug me how he pronounces "tomor-row" though.

Wouldn't mind hearing more tracks from this CD. I'd be curious to hear their version of Mr. Soul.

They played this CD a lot up here in Canada on the classic radio stations. I like most of the tracks I heard. I heard Geddy Lee says these were band favourites. They do a good job of Cross Roads.
{#Jump} ,,,yep,,iz more than ok,,play it again Bill !

Agreed! It's a sacrilege! Like listening to the Wiggles covering The Beatles!!!

I like this mostly because i have never heard it an all,
...an ima let you finish  but David Bowie does the the best cover of this OFF ALL TIME.
I liked the concept of this album - going back and recording the tunes you covered when you were starting out. I think this is great fun for Rush fans, and hopefully not too self-indulgent for everyone else.

This one's actually quite good, though.

My thoughts exactly, but I don't think this cover is "oddball".

Any Rush adds are fine by me.

Way to go, RP.
Oddly, the only song I really like on this album is Heart Full of Soul. I'm kinda meh on the rest of the covers - probably because that's how I feel about the originals. Still, nice to hear them on RP finally.

Well, I'll be damned.  A Rush song that I don't hate. Wonders never cease!
...i'm all like, wow - i don't know who this is but that vocalist sounds a lot like geddy lee...
