When I feel you still walking
I know I should not look down
But I'm so sick of just talking
When are you coming back?
I just can't handle it
When are you coming back?
I just can't handle it
When are you coming back?
I just can't stand it
I just can't handle it
No other music makers have used so many notes to come off as one note only.
Same sequence today, 03/19/2023.
And the sequence lives on -- 9/12/23
Bill's in my sweet spot right now:
The The > Jesus & Mary Chain > Radiohead...perfect! Maybe ONE more on this train or will he shift gears? We don't know - it's RP!

When I hear interesting music it isn't always Radiohead, but when I hear Radiohead it is always interesting music.

That's weird - is RP on a massive endless loop cos they just played The The > Jesus & Mary Chain > Radiohead just now. Curious.

This.
Comparisons to Pink Floyd or Steven Wilson are perplexing. I suppose Radiohead has gotten to a point where they can phone it in and people will just buy it based on the name.
Radiohead peaked with Pablo Honey.
This.
Good news for me as I love all of the three bands above!
. . . set the controls for the heart of the sun . . .

Don't let the door hit ya
Where the good lord split ya!!
It's been a year and a half. I wonder if he ever did spot a fly?
Except that The Bends and OK Computer are both better than anything Pink Floyd or any of Steven Wilson's bands have ever put out.
And I really like Floyd and and Porcupine Tree.
But IMHO those two records are among the top 10 or 15 albums ever. Yes - better than Dark Side of the Moon.
And by my reckoning after those two Radiohead was totally free to experiment anyway they wanted to and for me 85% of those experiments have been really great.
As Trump would say: Wrong!
Exactly. Thank you.
Yes, and "Amnesiac".

yep, but you gotta add 'Kid A' to the best of Radiohead list

Perhaps that is what the album cover is all about, I just realised.
I agree but I'd say more like 14 years of ho-hum.
Amnesiac (2001) was their last great album in my ever-so-humble opinion.
Hail to the Thief (2003) was still very good but since then it feels like they're sliding down the wrong side of the bell curve.
This.

Sure, if you substitute aimless melodic noodling, empty ideas, and Yorke's dreadful voice, for Pink Floyd's compositional genius, musical intelligence, and natural vocal talent. Yep, same thing.
Because it's lost on you does not mean it is aimless.

Atoms For Peace — Before Your Very Eyes...
The Beatles — It's All Too Much (remix)
Radiohead — These Are My Twisted Words
If you try to explain that this one and that one were created decades after the one in the middle ... where is the progress?
In the mystery...just enjoy the juxtaposition if nothing else.

Incredibly beautiful work!
Well Done, Calypsus!
Moi Aussie!
This isn't a particularly good song ... but it has some remarkable influences - Astronomy Domine anyone ? (Floyd)

Here's the finished drawing of Thom Yorke. I tried to incorporate some of Radiohead's album covers into the piece. I finally fixed my scanner a bit, but it still washed out a lot of the lighter tones on his face. I'll probably tweak a few spots here and there over the week just to add more depth to it, but this is basically the finished product. It's an 11"X14" drawing done with a mechanical pencil and blending stumps on cream colored paper. Approx. 18 hours went into this piece. Thanks for looking!
EXCELLENT work - thanks for sharing!
:)
I am in the lovers part but I don't mind reading the haters comments - most of the time I find them quite appropriate and very funny. I allow myself to have bad taste toward their standards. Which isn't bad taste to me. "Les goûts et les couleurs..."
This one is a 10
Sadly, but agreed. "There There", however, was nearly perfect, and two new songs are very promising
"like"
Temporary deafness would be more pleasant
Whatever is going on inside their heads...
I hope it never stops
Interesting, I've never thought about any kind of relationship between PF and Radiohead. . . thanks to the both of you for stimulating a new chain of Radiohead contemplation for me. . .
Yes, I've long viewed Radiohead as the Pink Floyd of today — mainly in the way that both bands are able to be trippy and experimental while writing some really catchy tunes. And oh, yeah ... there are some fantastic lyrics, too. No big surprise to me that the Easy Dub All Stars' two homage albums are Dub Side of the Moon and Radiodread (both really good albums if you enjoy reggae).
You're right. They are one of the best Pink Floyd-influenced bands that don't sound like them.

I think Howard Devoto and "Magazine" also had a big influence on Thom, not to mention Devoto looks as if he could be Thom's Dad
Not much these guys do that isn't just great...

He's right. Your taste is shit. If you can't handle it, go eat a banana.
Piling on with an inane banana doesn't change the fact that you're in no position to judge anyone else's taste. Or that Radiohead sucks, for that matter.
One of the best shows I've seen in decades.
Wasn't it you telling me all you've ever seen LIVE was BACHMAN-TURNER OVERDRIVE...?
Here's the finished drawing of Thom Yorke.
GREAT SKETCH!
Wonderful job (except for the lower 20%)!
Nancy Grace likes Radiohead...?
That's why I have severe problems with band,
songs and "singer"!
Check out something called The Tyranny of the Majority and ask yourself if your line of reasoning isn't, well, shit.

I DO NOT LIKE THEM!
(and do not understand them, neither!)
EDIT:
Before you call me an opportunist - NO!!! I did not read a single post, before confessing!
Considering the popularity of Radiohead among music lovers, their critical acclaim and the high average rating here on RP, it may just be your taste that is shit.

Completely uncalled for.
Jeebus, we get it. You hate radiohead. Fine. please, move on. Your obsession with things that trouble you is tiring at best.

Yeah . . . one of the few songs.
is that an opium pipe?
10 points.
Chasing the Dragon...........
This makes me happy.
So happy, it is now my desktop.
Arf.
I admit a pleasant way to spend the weekend. If one is not married, that is.
not all know about it yet.
I'm never above a little gratuitous nudity, but I'm not sure how this is relevant to the song. Now if the song was called Butter Face.... but that's just me being mean.
Actually, now it sounds a tad like Interstellar Overdrive, which a bass line derived from Set the Controls For the Heart of the Sun.
This is all fine by me; I just think the similarities are intriguing.

You and I both - Thom's warbling is definitely love it or hate it. Me, I reach for a wet herring to slap around yer man's chops. Great band, though, and I look forward to the day when Radiohead produce an instrumental album.
