Alabama, Arkansas,
I do love my Ma and Pa
Not the way that I do love you

Well, holy moly me oh my
You’re the apple of my eye
Girl, I've never loved one like you

Man, oh, man, you're my best friend
I scream it to the nothingness
There ain't nothing that I need

Well, hot and heavy pumpkin pie
Chocolate candy, Jesus Christ
Ain't nothing please me more than you

Home, let me come home
Home is wherever I'm with you
Home, let me come home
Home is wherever I'm with you

La la la la
Take me home
Mama, I'm coming home

I'll follow you into the park,
Through the jungle, through the dark
Girl, I've never loved one like you

Moats and boats, and waterfalls,
Alleyways, and payphone calls
I been everywhere with you (that's true)

Laugh until we think we'll die,
Barefoot on a summer night
Never could be sweeter than with you

And in the streets you run afree,
Like it's only you and me,
Geez, you're something to see.

La la la la
Take me home
Mama, I'm coming home

‒ Jade?
‒ Alexander?
‒ Do you remember that day you fell outta my window?
‒ I sure do‒you came jumping out after me.
‒ Well, you fell on the concrete, nearly broke your ass, and you were bleeding all over the place, and I rushed you out to the hospital, you remember that?
‒ Yes, I do.
‒ Well, there's something I never told you about that night.
‒ What didn't you tell me?
‒ Well, while you were sitting in the back seat smoking a cigarette you thought was gonna be your last, I was falling deep, deeply in love with you, and I never told you 'til just now!

Home, let me come home,
Home is wherever I'm with you
Our home, yes, I am home,
Home is when I’m alone with you

Alabama, Arkansas,
I do love my Ma and Pa
Moats and boats, and waterfalls,
Alleyways, and payphone calls

Home is when I'm alone with you!
Home is when I’m alone with you

This song was released in 2009 and Of Monsters and Men formed in 2010.

The beautiful thing about Radio Paradise is I can skip this song whenever it gets played.
Precious, and not in a good way.
Home? No Burning Man this year.

Always dicey at a moment like this. DJ hitting my heart. Don't klnow how he knows me

Hayduke2, you've already read my DNC/Screaming Trees story, so you know I'm a big DNC fan also of Kevn Kinney (not a typo), the main man behind DNC, his solo work is outstanding. Look that up too. It should be all over RP. Bill?

Nice you guys.  I've suggested to RP to play several Drivin n Cryin songs but none have made it through the filter.  I think DnC would fit in great on RP though.

Other way around actually. These guys are (were) better. A little rough around the edges in some songs but they do have something charming that makes them better in my humble opinion.

"Alexander ?"
"Yes, Your Honor ?"
"Jade is your sister."
And everybody sing...

Hey!

Ho!

Yah... With a little Avici thrown in?

Great song, but that 4 note bridge reminds me so much of Drivin' N Cryin's "Straight to Hell".

Are you and I the only ones who've ever heard of Drivin' N Cryin'?  I love their "Fly Me Courageous," and I know there are other songs, but that one just makes me drive too fast and feel rather invincible... Dang - now I'ma have to drag out that cassette and get it on CD or MP3... I think I hate you, AcesUp. {#Lol}

I registered just to say how much I hate this song. It's the 'tweeest' song I regularly hear, and something about this LA born & raised dude singing this fake folksy nonsense just makes my ears bleed. (I should see a doctor.)
Please play more..
MORE EDWARD SHARPE!! Bill overplays the same old tired playlists, and I get so excited to hear something new & fresh.  But he keeps going back to the same ol' same ol'.

Heard this today on KCRW and had to see if BillG'd ever played it.

Just fun stuff!

Ok... are they parodying a Doris Day musical?  Definitely weird, mixed up but interesting.

Sounds like Johnny Cash and Nancy Sinatra to me.
I'm liking this...despite my better judgement.
{#Frustrated}  ugh
I gave this an 8, I think it would have been less if it wasn't for a very well done NFL commerical featuring this song.
Catchy. Love it.
I can't figure out the popularity of this song
Love the version on La Blogotheque.

This is horrible!
***UPDATE***

This song is now being used by The NFL in it's ads to promote the wonderful world of smash-mouth pro football.

I think all that whistling was the sound of Jay Cutler's brain rattling around last Sunday night after the Giants kept throwing him down to the turf like a rag doll...

Yeah, 'XRT never met a hipster whistling song they didn't beat into the ground...I'm looking at you, Peter Bjorn and John!

Interesting, I like both songs, but don't hear that at all.{#No}
I was thinking of a FB status and all I could remember about the song was "Alabama, pumpkin pie..", classic!

Is this supposed to be a parody of hicksville? I've not heard so many stereotypes in one work since the last Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman joke I was told. It's like an episode of the Beverley Hillbillies. I'm not sure if it's celebrating or ripping the piss out of life in the sticks.

...in a good way!

My son gave this CD to me for Father's Day.  Nice present.  Also, my niece saw them at Sasquatch festival at the Gorge and loved them.  Nice to hear them on RP.
Orignal. Love it

Yay!  Glad someone finally uploaded this fantastic song.  I kept thinking about doing it, but never had time {#Dancingbanana}  Put this one on my RP mixtape culture club thingee a while back— one of those songs that really gets stuck in your head, in a good way— a bizzaro little song.

Thanks for that, too. Song of the year so far...

Wonderful
This entire album is great. RP should take a page out KCRW's book and embrace these guys.

No, no, no. You are going down a path I cannot follow.
This whole album is enjoyable and worth checking out,

Good description.  Don't like the song; but I like your description of it.

Great song.

Also watch the clips on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/user2100960

Is it weird to fall in love with an entire band all over one goofy song?

I give Ed (Alex) big credit for performing barefoot.
My hero.
{#Mrgreen}

i didn't love this at first; it seemed like a country parody and I have a lot of respect for that stuff.
But i'm a strong advocate for freakiness of expression.
the girl has a good voice, reminds of the punk rock girl Mia Zapata.
This evokes for me, Lee Hazlewood Nancy Sinatra and how they often seemed a bit off in their psycho-delic country songs.

I'm hoping against hope that the beauty and craziness and love and brother/sisterhood that these folks seem to embody is the real future. (no snarks allowed)...
...well this is unexpectedly cool - remarkably dreamy production for a contemporary recording...

love this, but I was surprised to find that they're a bunch of hippies. I was expecting something a bit more rockabilly - perhaps like these two:

would love to hear the Cramps rip into this song... not anymore...

what the hell is going on in this song???  sounds like something from Oklahoma (the musical, not the state)
This is a great version of the song from Letterman, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qb9jY8yAxgs

fever dream

You are welcome!{#Cheers}

In case that voice seems unusually familiar, Edward Sharpe is in fact Alex, former lead singer of Ima Robot.

Finally on RP! Love this song! Check them out on xpn World Cafe.

Hahaha!  That about sums it up!  Kinda like it though...

Adding this to my list of songs to learn.
Now THIS is a good song!
YEAH!!!! :)
Here they are performing live on KCRW back on May 28, 2009...

It looks like they had a really good time there.

By the way the accordion player, Nora Kirkpatrick, is from La Quinta!
Man were getting famouser and famouser everyday! {#Mrgreen}

This is a fantastic song.  I hope that it gets more play on RP.
oOoh how nice!
@ sandymac2010 {#High-five}

"Different," indeed, Bill!
The Sound of Music crosses the Bridge Over the River Kwai and heads to the Oktoberfest In the Ozarks where it headlines with Hootenanny.

NPR "song of the day" last month.  Johnny and June did this stuff a long time ago (and a lot better IMHO).

Peculiarly nice
This is cool. I'm surprised that it's a new song tho...
