Day gives way to night on the storefront mannequins
The audience with Mona Lisa grins

Moonlight builds emotion as the players scuttle in
Pull the curtain back and let the show begin

Lunar mischief under low light discipline
Here the tiny monsters hunt the harlequins

Silent patrons view the drama under low light discipline
Here the tiny monsters hunt the harlequins

Lunar mischief
We kill, be killed, or run
To be or not, to be beyond the dawn

The name "Puscifer" is definitely a turn-off, bordering on disgusting.  That right there is an automatic three points off.  Yeah, I know, rock supergroup, viable message, they own their own clothing line, yadda yadda.  Have fun.

Adding 3 points for the band name.   You do know where the term "Rock'n'Roll" comes from.... right?  And yes -- having fun.

I was only going to subtract 1 point for the band name.
I'll take Lunar Mischief for $800, Alex.
Album cover looks like Bill and Rebecka's Christmas card. I mean that in a good way.

Interesting but effective segue: Frankie Goes to Hollywood "Relax" --> this.
I've heard this numerous times and I've caught myself nodding and liking it...  I never realized it was MJK.  I like Tool(not a huge fan - but I enjoy hearing them when they are played).  I am putting it in for a 7 for now.

I think the mix is not great because the bass seems overly muddy(not enough seperation - and it evolved to being clear as a bell from that at the end of the tune) and the "snare" is a tad too thin for my tastes.  And still good.  :-)
that 80s back beat machine needs to go

This is why Mr. Keenan has a stalker problem.

Also, rarely can I say this for his work, but I enjoy this piece.
I am too old to like these teenage lyrics

That is one of the scariest album covers I have ever seen.
My vote for one of the worst album covers ever. The music's just as awful.

If "Lucifer" means "Bringer of Light," does that mean "Pusifier" means, "Bringer of Pussy?"

How could you object to that?!? Everybody likes cats.

Actually not everyone likes cats.  Moreover, I took it to mean Bringer of Pus.

There's really nothing wrong with pussy fur...unless it has tiny monsters in it!

You upset that it's one letter from Luscifer?
Yet another superb segue from FGTH.

When the still sea conspires an armor
And her sullen and aborted currents
Breed tiny monsters
True sailing is dead!

Sure sounds that way...

You're right about the truth being hard to take, but you about them being better than Tool. The calibre of musicians is what makes the difference IMHO.

INCREDIBLE? That's a stretch.
this song reminds me of when my gramma used to check under my bed for monsters.she always said,"the only monster here is you"and we would laugh and have a wonderful time, thank you gramma and mjk too i guess.

In this case "it's ALL GOOd Brah!

Best album tile ever .Right  after "Weasels ate my flesh"

Maynard and his 3rd eye : >

I don't think you can compare Tool with the other two just because Maynard.  Tool is it's own animal and takes some work, but when you get there, it's goooood.

I've struggled with this too, but no longer think one is better than the other. Certainly more accessible to a larger audience.

Question for those with better ears than mine:

Is that a bass guitar or the low notes on a piano  I hear at the beginning of the song?

Please note, I can distinctly the bass guitar later in the song.

Will that be a side loading or a top loading washing machine?

I feel quite the opposite.  I had yet to find anything of MJK's of worth to me until I heard this, which I begrudgingly found that I liked.

OK.  Me I love this washing machine song but I will bite.

What are Maynard's best albums?  Descending order would be nice; any order would be acceptable.

MJK is an amazing talent - just, amazing.
I hear a lot of the Alan Parsons Project in this.

Maynard Keenan and Steven Wilson have been around the music business about the same amount of time; it's likely they are familiar with each other's work.  They also seem to have similar influences.
Great song, and mostly a fine album. Love MJK.
Great track and even better thread...

Amazing thread. You guys crack me up. I haven't laughed this hard in a while. {#Cheesygrin}
When ever I see the album cover in the small size on the site I think of Monty Pythons Lumber Jack song.    Yes I know it has nothing to do with it and the guy is wearing an orange jump suit and a bad wig.
Never heard this! It's great!
Acceptable but uninspiring.
I'm minorily confused over the major tonalities in this song.
Amazing song.

Just look down to August comments and older...they'll put a smile on your face and forever change the way you hear
the thumping in this song. :)
Great tune. Horrible album cover.

OK, first of all, LOL on the huge deviation from your norm, which definitely speaks loudly about your opinion of this song...

And, second, the washing machine is starting to grate on my nerves...for me, it overwhelms the musicality of the rest of the piece.

The whole album is good in my view.  The imagery used on the outside of the disc is really rather dissonant to the music that is contained on the disc itself.  I wouldn't doubt that if that was Maynard's intent.

It's a pretty creepy and slimy image, reminiscent of dodgy 70s porn flicks. Which would fit in with yer man's SOH going by posts below. I do like the music, though.
it's time to stop what you are doing

And here I thought it was Porcupine Tree in the very beginning.  How wrong!
Title song (parole) is one of my all-time favorites.  Would be tough to air on RP?  The associated video is humorous / entertaining (ref. youtube).  More Puscifer, please!

jeez - a lot of New Order in this one
Overall, this is a pretty solid disk.  I'm liking it.  As usual, RP snagged the best tracks off the album, so there were no huge hidden gems, but I still enjoy the whole thing.

This just begs for a great sound system and some time to really absorb it.

This sounds so insanely like the Secret Machines that I thought they had gotten a new vocalist.

Ah.....prog is not dead........a sound 8

This may be a repeat listener.  I'm a fan of Tool, APC and Maynard's other collaborations, but Puscifer is very much hit or miss with me.

a Tangerine Dream scent

I find the album cover far more interesting than the song.
I really love the ending of this song - it'd make a great OTHER song...

Wow, thought this was maybe something new and long overdue from The Republic Tigers —and surprised to find just who it was!  Saw these guys on Letterman recently; way better than expected!  Keep the new good stuff coming, RP!
Awesome. . .
I may have to bump up my "6" on the strength of the group name/album title/album photo. Very strong.
Not bad!
Creepy album cover...
