Bring your head against the wall
So I can see where I will fall
Bring your mind into my head
Find your playing den
All in all it's just a start
All we had was more than that
All in all I can't go back
To where we started out
So bring my head up to Mont Blanc
So you will see what you would find
Bring my head against the wall
So you can see where I will go
All in all it's just your fault
Made me feel respect no more
All in all I can't go back
Blind my mind inside
Bring my mind inside your head
So you can see where I went then
Bring your head against the wall
So I can see where I will fall
All in all it's just your fault
Made me feel respect no more
All in all I can't go back
Blind My mind inside
Blind My mind inside
All your lies
Made me feel respect no more
All your lies

Made me feel respect no more

The singer's voice sounds identical to Ellie Goulding, at least in this song.

Ha! And yet that bass line is perfect for this song, simple and understated.
Then when the bass drops out several measures before the end of the song, it works so well, makes the song float away.
Awesome song in spite of the fact that the bass player ain't exactly working overtime.

Every time she sings "All in all" my brain completed the lyric with "we're just another brick in the wall", and because of the constant mental whiplash, I cannot favorite this track. ^^;;
Awesome song in spite of the fact that the bass player ain't exactly working overtime.

I was raised on records by The Carpenters (and Barry Manilow and Neil Diamond and John Denver and ABBA and...). I can certainly appreciate their music, even if I am a little embarrassed for having done so. (And I could probably bust out a passable impersonation of Copacabana all these years later.) My musical taste has matured well past that stage in the three decades since and I can see it for the drivel that it was, but it will still hold a place in my heart.
As for whether this or any other music would sound like Karen Carpenter, I could see that statement being made in all earnestness. Listening to her songs, I hear her strong voice (not especially remarkable, but certainly skilled) and the very clean production of the music. You could apply those same observations to other music, modern or otherwise, even on this channel. This particular song, I don't see it; the singer's voice can't really stand out on its own like Karen's and the production too busy to be comparable. Not that it means that the music is bad (or good, for that matter), just that it is a poor measuring stick.
Every time I hear the carpenters they made me want to gag, yes I went there

I have no reason to question anyone else's musical tastes. But, Karen Carpenter? I recall the days when the Carpenters were everywhere on the airwaves and really, they were not much better than poppy bubblegum for the senses. Nothing wrong with that, but I keep seeing that group brought out as comparable to any number of others I hear here - and it really makes little sense to me. I suppose if her life had not ended to tragically there might be a different emotional attachment for many, but maybe that's unrelated.

Like the lyrics! That's telling him!
Sweeping and elevating... I could hear a transition into Bittersweet Symphony.

I don't think IndyDoug was comparing The Carpenters to this or any other band, or proclaiming any great admiration for The Carpenters' music as much as he was saying that this song made him think of a specific time and place. Maybe not... Anyhow, cool tune - nice groove, and it doesn't remind me of The Carpenters.

I could imagine listening to this song on AM radio in my parents' car and perhaps with Karen Carpenter on vocals. Very dreamy and relaxing song.

Interesting, intelligent music coming from Norway, Sweden, and Europe on RP.
Thinking person lyrics. Music arrangements have curliques, bits and riffs that are additions not competitors to rest of song.
Flunk has eight albums since '02. Keep it coming.

This SUCKS!
Flunk
Is a perfect name for this band because they get an "F"
Get so bummed when the music goes all "Lilith Fair" on us.
Thanks Bill?
You must actually be a sensitive woman?

Never heard of Flunk. Then I go to iTunes and see there is a best of collection 2002 -2012.
The singer on this reminds me of the singer of Matson Belle; I wonder if it is the same person? I know they split up and she moved to Prague; I could buy this being her. Very nice - please keep in playlist, Bill.
Lovely voice
Hooverphonic mixed with Mazzy Star. Not bad.
It is really sumptin' how on this first few notes a song can just hit me upside the head and make me fall in love with it... I have only heard this twice and each time the same reaction...
Flunk - - - - If I think Not, then does this Blind my Mind?
I give this a passing grade.

I like how it calms me and calls to mind a bunch of similar mellow vibes...The Sundays, Over The Rhine, Sixpence None the Richer, Innocence Mission... Thanks, RP!

Reminds me of Maizzie (spelling?) in a good way. Uplifting sound, sweet voice, it succeeds despite lyrics being a little odd.
First hearing. Nice hearing. Sweet and good for the soul.

Not bad
I'm not a fan of the 'breathy' singers, but this is nice. A summer tune for a convertible car and a long drive.
First!
