In my silent moment
I can hear all that you have sent me
In my silent moment
To be one within you
To be not without you
To be as I once was
I can feel the love that I was missing
In my silent moment
I can be all that I was wishing
In my silent moment
To be one within you
To be not without you
To be as I once was
If they just cut out the wailing it would get a much better rating.
I'm sure people say that about you.
Love it when the west eats meet
Nice Harry Manx misquote.
Actually, the opening segment is very reminiscent of Moody Blues... anybody agree on that?
Yes for sure
Thank you RP!
Thanks.
Indeed. a song off of Saucerful. The name escapes me. Remember A Day ?
I think that's the part I like the most...
Agreed, that's the best part.
Then I got thinking, what would the effect on an elephant be if it got stoned and then this song was played?
Okay . . . it's a beautiful sunny Spring day here, and I'm just enjoying the music selection on RP and letting my few remaining brain cells connect in whatever random pattern they see fit.
Liked it until the "until the 'Aaaaaaaaeeeeaaaaaa...bla bla bla ..' part. Song ruined" part. Comment ruined. It is very tribal or Persian or something.
Racist much?
REMEMBER A DAY!
Thank you, I couldn't put my finger on it!
I think that's the part I like the most...
haha me too.. that was when I "tuned" in to check out and rate.

That's funny, because my ears perked up -- perked up BIG TIME -- when the chanting (?) started. Sounds a little like '30s jazz scat singing, except in Hindi.
Liked it until "the 'Aaaaaaaaeeeeaaaaaa...bla bla bla ..' part. Song ruined"
yeah, i'm with you on this. it seems like it is unnecessary or could have been left off and it would have been an entirely different song/feel for me. downvoting. was starting off with a 6, moved down to 4 for that reason. not appealing.

Ah, but I've since learned to truly love this song. Actually bought it on iTunes and a fave to play on guitar. We can change.
This track could be on The Beatles' Revolver.
I always thought this was Kula Shaker! Dear me.

To be clear, there are two ideas expressed in this thread about whether this song "sounds like PF":
1. "look and feel" — is the overall sound/texture/feel reminiscent of early PF?
This is subjective, so we don't all agree whether it's just "similarities", or does it really sound like them here. It's arguable.
2. "thematic reuse" — is the melody, or anything else, similar to the PF song Remember a Day?
It absolutely is!
• Key: Both songs are actually in the same key!, E major
• Chord progression: E → Bm → A → E, with the same number of bars for each.
• Tempo: Here they differ, Remember a Day clocks in at over 110 BPM, A Silent Moment at only 80 BPM.
• Melody: very clearly almost identical. PF's lawyers could make a case. Not convinced? Bring up these YouTube links in two separate windows, side by side, use the space bar to stop and start as necessary. Homework is due in the morning:
A Silent Moment, Elephant Stone
Remember a Day, Pink Floyd
westslope, Proclivities, et al, are behind door #1.
I and others are in behind door #2.
You're right. Very similar.

Holy God ... breathe and this comes from someone who rants ..

I think that's the part I like the most...
No doubt. When the tabla kicks in this song goes from "meh" to "whoah."
The wailing at the end belongs in a different song.
No, it doesn't, actually. It belongs right where it is. And calling it wailing?...
Hmm, sure, there's tones of PF there, but that's because they were HUGELY influential.
I'd say it's more akin to early Stone Roses or Kasabian.
Hell, you get more than a hint of Beatles too, all wrapped up in some mystic guru style Indian music.
It's jolly good.
Elephant Stone, just like listening to my neighbor from 3 km away…. Long live music from the world!
I really love this song. They listened to Pink Floyds Remember A Day..........
Unfortunately, they did much more than "listen"...
The Manchester Sound meets Ravi Shankar. Always liked this. More than just this song please.
Fusioned in Montreal.
Gotta love it when RP introduces me to Canadian music.
AaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaaAAaaaa
Favorite part of the song for me.
Honest question, generalities aside: Have you heard Remember A Day by PF?
Yes, I hear the similarities but still both songs are rather different.
Liked it until the "Aaaaaaaaeeeeaaaaaa...bla bla bla .." part. Song ruined.

I'm not sure why, but it seems like every song on the playlist has a "sounds like Pink Floyd" post somewhere in its comment thread. Everyone hears something different I guess, but there actually was music before PF existed, despite what many here wish to believe.

better than Kidney Stone
Because it is not in English.
Remember the day
You thought nobody was listening closely, eh?

Why is this not in the lyrics?
But, it is! It's the "Indie" portion of this Indie Rock tune, I do believe

I don't have a clue as to what F@$£ means, but I doubt I would be offended.
Little bit. Bass line certainly lifted from late sixties/early seventies.
I thought old Pink Floyd.
Yes I do.

You best listen to the early Floyd song "Remember A Day"- the melody is lifted note for note. I was sure it was a cover until about a minute in!
I did what you said, and there is a definite similarity, but note-for-note? Don't hear it. Inspired by directly or indirectly sure. But hardly plagiarism.
Oh, and this is a cool song. Love the Indian influences. More please!

I thought it sounded familiar, but couldn't put my finger on it.

Edit 29/12/20...And have since bought it!
Mood. Getting an 8 on first impression here.

Oh you poor precious thing..... Ferener music can be a bitch...
Oh you poor condescending thing.......YOU can be a bitch.
