If your man has got you on the run, why don't you try me ?
And if you wanna have a little fun, oh baby, why don't you try me?
If you tote more that you can bear
If your troubles been more than your share
And if things are not going just right
Why don't you try a man like me tonight?
Why don't you try me tonight?
Why don't you try me?
Why don't you try me tonight ?
Why don't you try me ?
Last night while I was trying to sleep
I heard a racket from the room next door, hum
And that was you and your man havin? a fight
Like you've done so many nights before
Woman, I?ll turn you every which way but loose
Is what I heard him shout, look out!
So I jumped out of the bed and I opened the door
Just as you came runnin? out
And I hollered why don't you try me tonight?
Why don't you try me?
Why don't you try me tonight?
Why don't you try me?
I ain't saying I'm all that you need
And I won't tell you, honey, you will be free
But all night, well, I will keep trying
And when I say I want ya, girl, you know I'm not lyin?
You see a good woman out on the streets these days, friends
A bad old man can't be hard to find, no, no
Kind of man who'd steal your heart
And call true love a crime
that's why I keep asking ya, baby
Why don't you try me tonight?
Do yourself a favor why don't you try me?
Regular man ain't treatin? you right
Why don't you try a man like me tonight?
Why don't you try me tonight?
Why don't you try me?
Why don't you try me tonight?
Why don't you try me?

Love them both- sounds like it was a lot of fun. Add to them David Lindley, Jim Keltner, and Nick Lowe and I'd been in heaven
I think in '81, promoting this album at a theatre in London, Ry Cooder had John Hiatt in the band. Around halfway through the set Cooder announced John Hiatt was going to take over for a few numbers. It was a properly astonishing, life changing night. Among other things I have been buying everything by Cooder and Hiatt ever since.

Bill, I'm afraid you're mistaken. Ry Cooder's Bop Till You Drop was the first digitally recorded album. They're both great albums, and both sound great also.
Hey Cooder, take some advice, shut up and play yer guitar

Why ry is not more famous is beyond me, he should be in the RRHOF

Inspiration for "Fearless Girl" a couple decades later perhaps?
Owned this album back in that day.....longed to be reincarnated as that bull.
To hell with the banderillas' darts, she hasn't got an estoque.

Good to hear some Ry. Considering RP plays so much John Hiatt, it might be good to play them together in their band Little Village?

What is the point of your pointless comment?
so he's basically trying to get a woman to be unfaithful......

Ry is simply incredible. More, please!
So great to hear Ry Cooder here once in a while. Wore out this album back when it came out, along with the one that came before it, Bop till You Drop. He was an LA musician who was kind of an antidote to the dominant LA scene orbiting around the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, etc. Great, interesting songs with that infinitely interesting, stellar guitar playing..

Chris is great. Listen to his Elvis covers album.
Cooder is a tresure. A very good guitar player, who knows all about the roots of his music. And his heart in the right place. I just love Ry Cooder!
Is that David Lindley?
so he's basically trying to get a woman to be unfaithful......
Loved this song back in the day; played it often at my college radio station. Interesting how Ry sounds so much like David Lindley on this particular tune.
Love this song. Ry Cooder!
Lame lyrics. PSD
Splendid Tune this cold mornin, Gracias!!! (looks like a Frank Frazetta painting on the cover)

A fantastic album all around. More Ry please!
I find with Ry, songs that on first listen might not sound like "much." Over time and more listens, turn out to have "a lot."
more Fun music by good ole Ry Thanks a bunch!!!
8 for Jim Keltner and the backing of Bobby King and Terry Evans. John Hiatt also on this album. Thanks for digging this one out Bill all this old Ry is worthy RP material
