I sit and wait for you
Like so many others do
Just like they do for me
Well so I do for you

I'd carry fire for you
Here in my naked hands
I'd bare my heart to you
If you will understand

I was a stranger there
Inside your promised land
That turned me inside out
And turned me upside down

I'd carry fire for you
Here in my naked hands
I'd bare my heart to you
If you will understand

Just like
Just like
Just like I scarred you
Just like
Just like
Just like I scarred you

I'm reaching out for you
Across the broken gate
I feel the gathering years
Beyond these lonely wastes

I'd carry fire for you
Here in my naked hands
I'd bare my heart to you
If you will understand

Just like
Just like
Just like I scarred you
Just like
Just like
Just like I scarred you

Shocking how much this guy sounds like the Led Zeppelin vocalist. They should sue.

Would love to see a Plant and McKennitt show throw in John Paul... Wahoo!

Loreena McKennit, Alison Krauss & Robert Plant would be an amazing trio.

Our Robert always liked Moroccan music, even in his Zeppelin days.

I must admit LZ was a more interesting band when I was 17.

Wouldn't mind so much if it was his Led Zep days. The later solo and duet stuff is dire.
Ooh, I just love a bit of hammered dulcimer. A nice exotic sound.
I’m sure I’m not alone when I say my life has been immeasurable improved by the presence of this man’s voice
Voice as an instrument.  Robert has proven his worth.

Robert Plante and Billy Connolly have the same hair stylist! Who knew ?

It wasn't until I read the lyrics that I figure out he wasn't like Iscariot.

1 in 6 people of European decent can have up to 5% Neanderthal DNA
1 in 3 from south-central and western Asia

African and Far Eastern, no Neanderthal DNA.

I know this because I read Fall 2020 Neanderthal DNA was identified as a COVID risk factor.

 Maybe sounded like one too?

Great song. Great tip on how to carry fire. Thank you Proclivities!

Reminds me of the music of Salim Halali.

I first heard his music in the film Free Men (2011); it's a fantastic film and I fell in love with Halali's music in it.
This kind of smokes, in a trippy way.

Could not be a better album cover. That's a life!
Oh, and the music is pretty good too

Saw him in Telluride last year. Still awesome!
Love this.  Would rather listen to this than played out ZEP!
Prachtig wat een heerlijk nummer, volume hoog ....

The more I hear this the more I like it

Staggeringly good musician. Every gig I've seen him do with various bands I didn't want to ever stop.

The sublimeness of what he does will be very hard for anyone to ever surpass
Let it be endless.......
+1 to 8, maybe it's partly due to Plant looking just like my bro-in-law, cool tune, and LLRP!
Ha! 25 years ago, The Tea Party make it clear Led Zeppelin were a big influence on them. Now Precy (Robert Plant sounds like he has been influenced by The Tea Party. Check out The Edges Of Twilight and Splendor Solis. very good albums indeed.
I love this. So chilled.

Kind of a sped-up unplugged Kashmir redux, for no good reason.

5 times in 30 days? Why such heavy rotation?

Initially I found this song a minor irritation but after several repeats my score is approaching 0. Overplaying isn't good for any song. Makes people want to change stations.
Why is Fake Empire playing to the cover of Carry Fire/Robert Plant?
He " Is a feather in the wind "
7 : >
1 > 0

maybe he needs to find some new material to borrow from
Unexpectedly, this tune was the highlight of his tour last summer.
The guitar is hurting my ears.

This seems to be the sentiment of many of RP's commenter. I thought I had mentioned it to RP earlier, but see that I have not, which tells me there are a lot of listeners thinking this same thing, but not mentioning it.  Unfortunately, I feel like Bill and/or Rebecca love it so play it A LOT but the end result is the rating goes down because we are getting sick of it.  At least that is true for me.

As I love this song, I have no problem with hearing it regularly on RP. As for "why the one song off the album?"... I have to assume that as Bill regularly notes, RP actually pays the royalties to musicians to play songs, and that those royalties must add up fast, especially for Big Names like Plant. No doubt if we all kicked in bigger donations we'd see more money available to RP to see an even wider variety of music (as though 4 streams of stuff you NEVER hear on commercial radio isn't enough).
This song is so romantic and beautiful!  He has been exploring North African and Middle Eastern sounds for decades.
the more I hear this the more I love it

Great, great song.  Nothing faux about craftsmanship.  And Plant has been digging into Middle Eastern/South Asian musical traditions his entire career.
plays too often on rp
wow... this has a wicked, wicked sound..

goodness gracious

excuse me while I enjoy these rhythms...

No! No! No! Gosh; how many times do we have to hear this? What the heck is he singing about, anyway? Is he banging Loreena Mckennitt? Sounds like it (hope so). But please don't play this wishy twaddle so often -- please!

Interesting article, thanks for sharing.  Always loved how LZ blended various influences.
at least twice today! playing just before we left for dinner and again right after we returned.

Ouch.........Grating..... {#Stop}
I found this song to be very repetitious... almost to the point of sounding like a record skipping. Not for me at all.

sounds like trying to find the Kashmir magic again, but not doing it for me.

Great in concert recently, nice multi-modal vibe. But I still find this meme pretty true!

You are absolutely right. I think for that reason that Bill is mentioning the name of Justin Adams now regularly!
This is a great song...but why play it so many times?
The whole album is fantastic and deserved to be heard as much as this song

The song is great, his voice is lovely on that tune, if you do not like, why not PSD?
But his music has evolved as has his voice... Accept musicians grow, as they get older, and are influenced by all genres of music, and the band, does not play faux middle eastern dirges.... They know their instruments...

Btw, what are middle eastern dirges, as the Middle East play a whole range of music ...

This song was okay the 1st few times, but it got old quick. I expect more from Plant.

He sounds more like Kaa every day ...

Song is *okay* but two plays, four or so hours apart?  (9:57am and 1:33pm)  That's a bit much.
Love the Middle Eastern vibe. The entire album is hypnotic like this. It grown on me with repeated listening.
I prefer the rock and roll Robert Plant.
Just plain love it. When you're not playing it, Bill. I am.
PS: If you're looking for Stairway to Heaven, that was then.
:)

Off to see him next Thursday, looking forward to it.
Please make it stop.{#Pray} 11 plays in 30 days?!

Sorry Robert, this ain't no Stairway by a long shot. {#Wall}
Not a fan of this at first, but it's growing on me.  That voice has always been haunting...Up to a 7.
oh WOW... new Robert Plant.  This makes me so happy Bill!  123K

great voice, fabulous artist (the title Carry Fire brought to mind Svankmajer's "The Torchbearer"  : )

Time to pull out the Anti-Nowhere League verse -

"You criticise us, you say we're shit
But we're up here and we're doing it
So don't you criticise the things we do
No fucker pays to go and see you"

That just about covers it.
Heavy rotation lately. Just a mood, Bill?

He still regularly produces music that is relevant, innovative and beautiful.  VERY FEW people of his generation can claim that.

Anytime any day, fabulous!
I was at work listening and I thought "What is this song? I really like it!". Robert Plant does that to me.
So nice to hear new work from him....
once again a song catches my ear.  I need to stop what i am doing and just listen.  Very cool
