J’ai failli me noyer,
Personne me comprendra.
Translation:
Transferred from Baton Rouge, in the middle of the night,
I dreamed that we made love, I jumped from my bed.
It had been wet for forty days,
I almost drowned,
Swimming in this ocean with waves of steel.
I can not manage since I left you,
I am still in love,
I can not help myself.
I hear the bell ringing,
It's the phone again,
I'm looking for him through the labyrinth
From my little dark room.
I have to cut,
A car is waiting for me
To take me to the other side of the world,
To take me away from you.
I would like to tell you that I will forgive you,
But I'm still in love
I can not help myself.
And the wind whistles on the meadow,
I turn my back to the North.
I would rather not want to want.
But it's too late, much too late,
Because I'm still in love,
I can not help myself.
I'm going to Mexico,
At the end of the great desert.
Sleep with the scorpions, then drink my tequila.
Not far from the tavern, with girls at the bar,
I could scream all night,
Nobody will understand me.
I wish I could make believe that I am detached,
But, I'm still in love,
I can not help myself.

Not really, at all! As mentioned above, the French and, the Cajun French are two distinctly different, not just dialects but, two very different ways of life! Don't see too many French out crawfishing or, gator hunting! And, of those of French descent that I've known, would likely turn their noses up at such cuisine! What they don't know....I guess!

Ya'll, he's a CAJUN! Born and raised in Scott, Louisiana. This is Cajun music, the language isn't French, it's Cajun French (few French-speakers can make much sense of it). It's a uniquely American culture and, having lived among them for almost 20 years, the most big-hearted, fun-loving people in the whole world. Yes, yes, originally French Hugenots expelled from "Acadiana" yada yada yada.
Cajun. That's all you need to know now. Come visit, come hungry
Although born & (mostly) raised a Yankee, I had the pleasure of living in LA for awhile....I must agree with the reply to the post....some of the best people one could ever have as friends! And, "come hungry" isn't an exaggeration! Cajuns have a very unique, VERY tasty way of cooking/preparing meals/food! Cajun crawfish is an absolute favorite of mine! Hope to relocate there, sooner, rather than later.

Perfectly understandable for a standard French speaker

Please play more of this. Cajun French is such a unique linguistic heritage and this type of "country" music is worth exposing to a wider audience.

a Cajun I knew from Bayou Gauche once traveled to Italy (Son was there in the Navy) and hopped into France where a local told him "You speak old dead French"

More Zydeco! Vive l'Acadie!
Sounds like a CCR song being played backwards but I like it!
That was lots of fun! Made me think my high school French was enough to follow along to!

I do love Zachary Richard. Honest Louisiana Cajun, authentic, warm and crisp Zeideco sound and then his fabulous voice.

And I'm still trying to figure out a few of the words on this one.....not being fluent in French means it's even more difficult to make out the LA French he's singing....almost like understanding a Southerner speaking in English!!
I'm kinda liking this....somewhere between the 6 and 7 rate and then reading his Wiki page I decided to go w/ the 7. More diverse music for us to listen to...thanks BnR!!
