Nothing obscure about this particular selection, for those of us that were around when it first came out. Just sayin'…
Also, flutes as a common element to pop/folk/jazz-rock/rock music kind of came into it own during this period.
Often I see comments about the female artists' looks in the comments section, so Ima balance that out a lil bit and say this guy has a banging look!
Also great song and Bless RP for the diverse, obscure tune selection, respect

When an introduction is that good, it can be longer than the rest of the song, and no one will complain.
Lyrics:
This is a song for Julia
Some things I'm trying to say
A song of dreams for Julia
Perhaps you'll understand one day
Walkin' hand in hand
Over stream and hill
Through the windswept sand
I can see her still
Flowers in her hair
Flowers everywhere
So you know I love you
And I am dreaming of you, Julia
This is a song for Julia
Some things I'm trying to say
A song of dreams for Julia
Perhaps you'll understand one day
Walkin' hand in hand
Over stream and hill
Through the windswept sand
I can see her still
Flowers in her hair
Flowers everywhere
So you know I love you
And I am dreaming of you, Julia
I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely man in the 70s when I worked backstage at a show in Palo Alto, CA. I'll never forget his kindness and grace. I think about that night each and every time I hear this song.
RP educates me daily thank you.
This is nice. Just what I needed right about now.

Always nice to hear that a good old-timer is still performing

Always great to hear Jesse Colin Young.
So so many years ago, this album was a regular on my turntable. Nice to hear it once again. Thx Bill!

Makes my heart swell with memories and those old days come flooding back in.
Twirlin' in the kitchen.

The Youngbloods were the neighborhood band when I studied at Berkeley in the late sixties... I thought Jesse had retired away to Hawaii and given up the music, thanks for the update
I always loved this song but thought this was "Song for Julia". Like since 1974. 44 year-old Mondegreen resolved. Thanks Bill!

He's clearly singing "Julia," and the written lyrics have "Julia," yet all the title references i see say, "Juli." So, i'm not sure the issue is really resolved.
