Sometimes I feel I've got to
Run away I've got to
Get away
From the pain you drive into the heart of me
The love we share
Seems to go nowhere
And I've lost my light
For I toss and turn I can't sleep at night

Once I ran to you
Now I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Tainted love
Ooh...Tainted love

Now I know I've got to
Run away I've got to
Get away
You don't really want it any more from me
To make things right
You need someone to hold you tight
And you'll think love is to pray
But I'm sorry I don't pray that way

Once I ran to you
Now I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Tainted love
Ooh...Tainted love

Don't touch me please
I cannot stand the way you tease
I love you though you hurt me so
Now I'm going to pack my things and go

Once I ran to you
Now I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Tainted love.

Repeated myself once. Sorry this is such a burden for you.
VERY nice! Exceptional cover that establishes a whole new experience - in a very good way.

Thanks for that, and the link. I'd never heard the Scorpions version either, and i think it's pretty darn good!
And thanks to other posters here, i now know the Soft Cell version was itself a cover. That was a surprise to me!

A big "meh" for me. It's a technically competent vocal and rendition, but the smooth, sultry, jazzy vibe seems totally at odds with the lyrics. Even Gloria Jones' original version is much more authentic in that regard.

Much, much better than Soft Cell.
Yet another cover?!!!
I dunno. The smooth jazzy vibe of the rendition doesn’t seem at all suited to the lyrics or song structure.

This is nice -- giving it an 8. But here's one for the ROCKERS in the crowd.

,A nice singer and sexy rendition, but it's lacking the dark sleaze of Soft Cell. The original makes me think of dark Soho alleys and sticky carpet dives, but this cover would suit hip jazz bars.

Tainted Love was composed by Ed Cobb, formerly of American group the Four Preps, which was originally recorded by Gloria Jones in 1964.[1] It attained worldwide fame after being covered and reworked by British synthpop duo Soft Cell in 1981 (Wikipedia)

That is the point, I should think.

A vast improvement on Soft Cell, but that's a pretty low bar.
Nope, give me the original anytime. This sounds like a diluted version with all the sharp edges removed, to be played as background music in a restaurant.
Kinda digging this cover. I can just see myself in a dark smoky jazz bar listening to this while I nurse my bourbon.
A new song here 2024 from 2011... interesting, but not my favourite version of that song...
