I was listening to This American Life over the weekend, an episode from a few weeks ago. The first part of Before Things Went to Hell is about how immigration reform almost got done in the 90s, and how much about what we're experiencing now was predicted at that time. It's well worth hearing, if only to imagine how we could be bipartisan about approaching a fix.

There's another episode I didn't listen to yet, about how walls change systems.... The Walls

NPR's Reveal has a some interesting podcasts on the Wall proposed by President Trump. In addition, there is an interview with Mexican ex-president Vincente Fox where Fox condemns the Wall as the "Fucking Wall".

I pity American multinationals operating in Latin America. The American boat anchor effect is back in play. Why do I sympathize? From personal experience, I know that the senior people who run these companies are far more knowledgeable of history and respectful of Latin Americans than most voting Americans.
