I've seen a number of these posts (the original), and it always boils down to "I didn't think it would happen to me". If you have zero empathy, you can't imagine how an inhumane policy might feel to most people unless it comes to knock at your door. It's a selfish and simple view of the world, but apparently held by a significant portion of the population. I'm not really sure if empathy can be learned or not.
Edit: I also want to know how he votes in the next election. The outrage seems to dim when faced with the possibility of switching teams (see: farmers voting for Trump a third time).
It seems that a lot of people on the right look down on empathy. Much of the religious-right thinks empathy can be "toxic" - there's even a book about it.

You gotta admire the Pete Townshend "doing research" defense.
This is the level of the Republican base now... I'm gonna prove you can get absentee ballots by breaking the law. If anyone should have known better... but they're all trying to "break the story" about how the election was stolen. Idiots.
No, They were simply trying to cheat. That's why they are so convinced everyone else is cheating - because they were, so since they lost, you must have cheated more/better. Also, that's their basic nature, so they assume everyone else must be inclined to do the same.
A former Milwaukee election official convicted of misconduct in office and fraud for obtaining fake absentee ballots was sentenced Thursday to one year of probation and fined $3,000.
Real actual election fraud. Anyone want to guess which party?

Sean Duffy: "Pete Buttigieg was running for president as opposed to doing his job and making sure that we got our air traffic control system modernized."
(Pete Buttigieg ran for president in 2020. He became transportation secretary in 2021.)
