why's it so strange when they say that the world's movin upwards?
Why's it surreal when my hands feel they cant roll the dice?
Why's it so great just to wake every day, alive and by your side.
It's a mystery I guess, there's lots of things I cant find.
Its not the way that you look, but your move that catches my eye.
Why's it so soft when the cannons unload on the others?
Why're we so loud when we say it wont happen to us?
Why does my mind blow to bits every time they play that song?
It's just the way that he sings,
not the words that he says, or the band.
Im in love with this soul, it's a meaning that I understand.

Being slightly out of tune makes this song even better somehow

What is the concert venue on the cover?
Suspiciously like Life in a Northern Town by Dream Academy

Yes, there are some who go all analog before then digitizing to CD etc. Others just don't do a lot of futzing with things either because they dislike the sound, isn't what they are going for, or just don't need it to sound good.
The random images coming up are mostly animals with their mouths open. I'm getting a laugh out of imagining them singing this song.

BTW - i think this is one of the better MMJ tunes I have heard
Midnight Summer Dream to me.
Just so good! Love the soaring melancholy vocals. Saw these guys live in Copenhagen some years back  -   fantastic live performance!
Greetings from sunny San Diego. Another band I wouldn't have come across other than from listening to RP. On first listen (I think), it's probably an easy 7 with room to grow.

From "V For Vendetta":

Delia Surridge: [V gives her a rose] Are you going to kill me now?
V: I killed you 10 minutes ago.
[shows her hypodermic needle]
V: While you slept.
Delia Surridge: Is there any pain?
V: No.
Delia Surridge: Thank you. Is it meaningless to apologize?
V: Never.
Delia Surridge: I'm so sorry.

Love MMJ. Greetings and love from Amsterdam.
This song is magic to me. I'm surprised it isn't rated higher, but I'm also a bit pleased because I kind of like not voting with the majority every time.

Your immaturity and lack of experience of life is glaringly evident.
Turkey is a very interesting country.

Istanbul is a mixed bag.

As a country is is a great place to spend some time. I've been going for over 20 years, usually for 3 months at a time.
Some of the nicest, most tolerant people you will ever meet.
So diverse in scenery, culture +++

Turks are masters of indolence - not many hangups despite their bad governments of all shades.

Saw MMJ in Atlanta at the variety playhouse… what a great show
Strong <=4 opposition keeps the average below 7. Anyway, this songs always makes my day.

Lizardking thanks i have tried not to make too many snarky comments like that since then
OMG... Goosepimples flicker up and down my spine in glorious loving ways when I hear them play... MMJ is excellent.
Reminds me of Fleet Foxes on the "EE-Yom-Yom".

Very good. In a nice way reminds of a band called The Jazz Butcher Conspiracy, album Distressed Gentlefolk, some 30 odd years ago.   :-)

It's rare to not find something to like in every song, but this is just pure repetitive boring to me. If you like it, great. I don't.

Saw them live along with only about 250 other folks in a small club
in Osaka. Same energy and quality performance as their concerts in
front of 25000. What a great band. Just over the top good.

alrite toon, but it's terrible The Way that He Sings
This is the MMJ that I love. All bands change but this is the sound that sucked me in. Wish they would find their way back in this direction.
THE highlight of my evening...among the many other highlights
Never get tired of hearing this. Part of my midnight music collection. Quality curation and mixes from Bill makes it a no brainer to donate each month.
a certain sense of peace and good things permeates the room as this song plays in the background...thanks Bill
Dammit. This is how I got turned on to Poe and Elbow, by hearing a song and every time thinking "oh, that nice little tune again."
also lovely!

One the best live bands I've ever seen, Mary Moore theater in Seattle last year...didn't do this song, but all the other good ones,  Jim James oozes charisma and can rip on the guitar solos

Nice one.  I would love to enjoy this band but, bearing in mind that I can't sing for toffee, it feels like he doesn't hit a single note accurately.  To my ears, anyway.

To me, this band has always been about their peculiar sound (which I enjoy in small doses).  They do manage to replicate it fairly well in live performance.  And, with Jim James being such a lovable, goofy hippy, I'm willing to cut them slack even when they do overcook the sonics.

On top of it, I am definitely tired of their old-fashioned, "progressive" folk-cowboy music!

Apparently the "land of the free" as you call it has 5% of the global population but 25% of the worlds jail warmers.

I think there's a decent song inside of this, but would just leave it to a better band to find it...
