Who knew Robert Plant was such a fan of Los Lobos?   I guess he has good taste (:  The video of Robert, David & Cesar driving around is pretty fun.  This album is really interesting, with the inimitable Buddy Miller, Patty Griffin and I think it's produced by T-Bone Burnett.  Anyway, good stuff.

I coulda swore I posted a comment on this song, but it probably went south. So - bumping this from 7 to 8, and I'll say that I have the CD in my Sidekick, and it's a wonderful musical backdrop to my travels. Weirdly, I have a Mark Knopfler CD right after it, so I can't even begin to claim responsibility for the way I drive while these two CDs are playing. Oh - a remote? Well, geez. No batteries. Guess I'll just have to be a diligent driver and not try to push buttons to change songs or CDs.

How people don't see the skill and beauty of his recent music I don't know.  Love Zep as all right thinking people do but also love this sort of bluesy folky gear he has come out with lately.  Also every time I hear the band of joy I can't help thinking how good I think they'd be live.  I would welcome the chance to find out.

This is not an evolution, but a metamorphosis.  Not a good one either, more like a butterfly to a moth.  Robert is one of the absolute best rock singers ever and with that he has branded himself.  I don't care so much if he wants to do ballads with Mariah Carey, but they better be pretty darn good and fitting of his image or the brand suffers.  And your wrong, they can sing their glory days forever...well until the grandkids take grandpa's microphone and car keys away.  Look around, its being done successfully by several.  What would you rather see, Plant singing Black Dog with the boys or Angel Dance unplugged?  Sorry, for me they cannot co-exist in the same universe.  BTW, did you really listen to Steelers Wheel?

1) a certain percentage think Zeppelin is the worst band ever (they got it opposite).

2) a certain percentage think Robert Plant should only be singing the Immigrant Song (or disappear as he gets old)

Yey!  New Plant!  Love it!   Just saw him a few weeks ago in Tampa - he put on an incredible show.  Rock stars in the mid 40s wish they still had Plant's voice and songwriting talent.  Just as cool today as he was in 1969.

I love the very loosely-tuned drums in this. Still finding things I like about Plant's version of this, but it makes me want the Los Lobos CD. Well, and pretty much everything Los Lobos has ever done. Took RadioParadise to get me to this point with that band - I'd only ever heard a couple of lame covers and "Will the Wolf Survive?" so I was limited in what I knew of them.   Thanks, RP! {#Wave}

Having never heard the Los Lobos version, I have no preconceptions/bias. I like this song. I like Robert Plant, with "Fate of Nations" being one of my all-time favorite albums.

He is scaling a mountain in trying to cover this one - one of Los Lobos' most endearing songs.  He no longer has the appropriate range to match David Hildago's incredibly soulful vocal.
