I believe, I believe, I believe in love

And I believe in poetry
And I believe in lights lines
And I believe in technique
And I believe in size signs
I believe, I believe, I believe in love

Yeah, and I believe in people who
I believe, believe in love

I believe in the Father
The Son and Holy Ghost
And I believe in lager
Cigarettes and dope
Yeah, I believe, I believe, I believe in love

And you believe in your prophet
And you believe in your pope
And you believe in your guru
And I believe and hope that you believe
That I believe, that you believe in love
'Cause I'll believe in anything if
I believe than you believe in love
I believe

Well, I believe in stoners
And I believe in saints
And I believe in sarcomas
And I believe in opiates
Yeah, I believe, I believe, I believe in love

And I believe in surgery
And I believe prayer
And I believe in mercy killing
When I'm beyond repair
Yeah, I believe, I believe, I believe in love

Yeah, and I'll believe in anything if
I believe that you believe in love

What a groovy little ditty..
Gets a 6 +1 for the creepy as Wiki pic.
It should have been a poem instead.
This is some brilliant drumming.
Reminds me of Paul Simon.  I like it.

I've never heard this before - I was working on a spreadsheet on the computer while listening to RP, and suddenly, I found myself tapping my foot and forgetting what I was doing, staring out my bedroom window at the two ring-necked doves on the telephone line, and feeling like I really didn't have anything important to accomplish.  Any song that can do THAT to me is worth at least an 8. {#Sunny}

same here but without the doves. And it was a text document. But yes, tapping and dreaming.
Tuesday Weld?

Va va va voom!
I believe I will pause the stream for a few minutes.

If meant in the context of googles definition... "comic verse composed in irregular rhythm", yes, I agree! Very cool song though! As noted in a couple posts, "set to tapping feet" so, I like it. Total 9 for me.

I always come here for the funny critical comments... they're definitely a pick-me-up.
Not my usual listening at all - but it worked this morning. I found myself tapping my foot and enjoying this very much.
Has a Dan Hicks & his Hot Licks vibe

Same here! I agree!
I've had this album for years and I never reach for it but if it comes up on shuffle I never skip it.
It's unfortunate that when searching 'Stephen Coates' on Google, the first result is this
Well, I believe in monogamy
And I believe in lust
I believe in promiscuity
And I believe in trust
I believe, I believe, I believe in love

Cool.  And a little like a Max Fleischer animated cartoon.
Near the end, I faintly hear a female voice say " Oh yeah" twice.
I believe I like this one

Ditto.
The accordion adds a nice touch to it as well.

Looks to me like a bug. Just like the song itself.
beaucoup de paroles pour un instrumental  !
This is the kind of song that reminds me of "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing." because it so obviously does 'swing', if nothing else.
And the word for today to describe the lyrics is... Doggerel.
Interesting once.

Isn't this the original?
I believe this song is junk. :D

Lyrics say "instrumental", which I suspect may be in error.

If they know anything about Tuesday Weld, then they certainly believe in lust.

Can't agree with that—the "I believe in sarcomas" line doesn't sit well since my sister-in-law died from metastatic sarcoma tumors.

The music is peppy, though.
I believe I'll have a beer. NOT lager.
Says me, who actually does have a beer named after himself.  Oooh, Claim to Fame.
Nope, Googling won't work, it's a really small scale brewery........which produces some excellent brews, including "mine".
Fun song,, I agree some Ian dury would be spot on!

He was an excellent lyricist; too bad there are no Ian Dury tunes on RP.

This is really fun for about 90 seconds. Then less so.
Thought this was Paul Simon
Oh well.......
Ian Dury had a song with the same name and the same sentiments, but MUCH better lyrics. As you'd exect.
Well that was a fun little jam.  Not sure why so many dislike it as much as they do.
I'll politely bow out on this one - No Thank You.

It's out of order to slag off posters on their ratings, not least because the tables can so easily be turned - people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Plus if folk come to think that they're going to be judged by their ratings then they'll be less free in their ratings, and that'll have an effect on RP because Bill & Becky use ratings as one guide to what music to play. Taste is subjective, and no person's subjective musical tastes are any better or worse than another's. A bleedin' obvious statement, I know, but one that plainly needs restating, it seems.

I believe I'll hit the mute button..

I had the same reaction - it's the muted, repetative trumpet that gets on my nerves.

I would like this song quite a lot, played once or twice a year.   Absence would make my heart grow fonder—let's try absence for a while.

Musically annoying. Interesting lyrics rescue it from being a 1.
This is a bad one, sorry.

I love this song...no F needed!
i hate this f——ing song..
Kinda sounds like Ben Lee (with some great backing production) to me.
Did he really just sing, "I believe in sarcomas"?

I like this song. It makes me feel good.

I know I ought to quit now
But I believe I'm in too deep

I believe in gangster rap
Gays and geeks and ghosts
I believe that we die
Of all the things that we hate the most

I believe that we all learn
To love before we get through
I believe in letting people
Do what people do

I believe in everything
(I Believe You)
Yes I do
I believe in everything
I believe in everything, everyone, everybody hey, hey, hey
(I Believe You)

I believe that all my friends
Really are my friends
I believe that Jesus Christ
Died for all of my sins

Sampled lyrics, so. Would make sense.

As long as you leave gaps for that funky horn you can go on beleiving in whatever the hell you like.
Too much jesus and repetition  I believe I don't like this song.

In fact, a local boy here in Ottawa, capital of Canada, does know the real Tuesday Weld: he was married to her. His name is Pinchas Zuckerman, a violinist and Conductor of the National Arts Centre Orchestra. When he and Toodie were hitched and living in the United Snakes, she once said to her husband as he was leaving to conduct a famous work one evening, ''I've already heard that Beethoven symphony: why would I want to listen to it again.'' Deep—real deep, Toodie. But the bigger question is: Why would Pinkie marry someone like that? Blinded—temporarily—by lust, I suppose: She was a drop-dead stunner in her day.
