Jenny said when she was just five years old
You know there's nothing happening at all
Every time she puts on the radio
There was nothing goin' down at all
Then one fine mornin' she puts on a New York station
She couldn't believe what she heard at all
She started dancin' to that fine fine music
You know her life was saved by Rock 'n' Roll
Despite all the amputations
You could just dance to a rock 'n' roll station
Jenny said when she was just five years old
My parents are gonna be the death of us all
Two TV sets and two Cadillac cars--
Ain't gonna help us at all
Then one fine mornin' she puts on a New York station
She don't believe what she heard at all
She started dancin' to that fine fine music
You know her life was saved by Rock 'n' Roll
Despite all the computations
You could just dance to a rock 'n' roll station
And it was alright.

Love the live version of this on Rock n Roll Animal. The guitar work of Hunter and Wagner is outstanding.
I wore that album out.Did "Mo" leave her sunglasses back at The Factory?
Sounds like Bob Dylan in an alternate universe.

It's early in my work day and this song definitely boosted my mood. BillG's comment hit the nail on the head - if ever there was a song that's the antitheses of sliced & diced & pitch-corrected (paraphrasing here), this is it. I recall hearing this song on the radio back in the 1980s - on a Toronto, not NY station, though
It's 14:47 here in the rainy UK and I'm listening to top tunes and getting nothing done at work. This time of day is always great with the RP crew: the afternoon just slips round. I've also just realised that you folks are just getting up in the morning to this stuff! Sweet start to your day. My greatest respect and admiration. I love RP.

Love hearing this on RP! Used to get a kick out of blowing my parents' minds by blurting out the words to this in Lou's amazing manner
