Yeh I'm gonna make you wonder if you're my friend
Yeh I'm gonna make you wonder if you're my friend
Yeh that's the way I choose them, all my friends
Do you think you're close with all your promises
Do you think I act strange when you talk to me
It's cause I don't see you
Yeh I'm gonna make you wonder if you're my friend
Yeh I may as well tell you, you'll never be my friend
Aah that's the way I choose them, all my friends
The telephone only rings when you've got success
You only want us when we're at our best
But we don't hear you
Yeh I'm gonna make you wonder if you're my friend
It isn't our fault that your life's depressed
We've listened and we've learned
That all of the words that you say
Yeh all of the words that you say
Mean nothing
Yeh I'm gonna make you wonder if you're my friend

When did Chrissy Hynde wind up in Texas?

Don't mix apples and oranges.
Song a solid 7, slideshow a 9.

And I might buy one.
This is one of those songs where I look to see who it is and find that I've never heard of them. So I look at the background information to see if I recognize any of the members. Nope. Then I see the year. Man, this could have recorded yesterday by any number of musicians/singers that RP plays. I like it!
Love Texas. Especially 'South side'. But their other pop stuff has also wits.
Derivative, not great musicianship or production. Still, I like it. It's upbeat. they're sincere and working hard, and that sure stretches the mac and cheese.

GOT IT ! The reason this sounds so familair is because Texas lead singer Sharleen Spiteri's voice is a spittin' image of Chrissie Hynde's (The Pretenders). Go ahead, hum a few bars of a familiar Pretenders tune like "Back On The Chain Gang", "Brass In Pocket", or "Don't Get Me Wrong". Sounds pretty similar to these ears. -t

Yeah, I thought this was a younger Chrissie. Her voice these days is deeper than this.
Saw Texas in concert last month - fantastic, highly recommended. IMHO this is not there best track, Black Eyed Boy is probably the best one.
Wow, took a 10-year hiatus on playing this?

A guy from Altered Images, IIRC  and they took the name from the Wim Wenders movie. That's all I got.
A Scottish band named Texas ... is that to much for Americans?

They are BIG in Europe. Many massive hits.  None of them in the RP pool.
My only other exposure to Texas was the "Sexual Healing" rip-off, and I liked that better than this one, if that makes things clear.
Was this that band on Ally McBeal?
Glaswegians?
This song... I dunno... It's like they're not sure just what this song is supposed to be. It's like lots of song pieces put together. Doesn't really come together. And, "I'm gonna make you wonder if you're my friend"... Huh? The kind of song a high schooler who is trying really hard to be a song writer might come up with. MT
No, you're gonna make me wonder how quick I can turn down the volume. Sheesh! Stop it!

why does this song sound familiar?
I don't know why, but I keep hearing some James in this... :-k
Anyone watch the BBC series The Office? The best line in the series comes from David Brent talking about Texas. I think I like this solely on that line.

Ellen Degenerous used this song as her Sitcom's theme song, though the song predated her show by a couple years or so.
Not too happy with this mornings selections and this just adds to the disappointment.
About time I heard something off of Rick's Road on RP. More Texas please. This is a great album, by the way.

But 4.8 is way better than acceptable and on the cusp of decency. The point of the rating system is for everyone who cares, to rate it and then we get an average. If you think it is worth 8 you vote 8. Not 10. That is just silly.
