Winter is here, again, oh, Lord
Haven't been home in a year or more
I hope she holds on a little longer
Sent a letter on a long summer day
Made of silver, not of clay
Ooh, I've been runnin' down this dusty road

The wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'

I've been trying to make it home
Got to make it, before too long
Ooh, I can't take this very much longer, no
I'm stranded, in the sleet and rain
Don't think I'm ever gonna make it home again
The mornin' sun is risin'
It's kissin' the day away

Oh, the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
wohohohohoh mymymy, for tomorrow

Oh, the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
Ooh, I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps me yernin'
Ooh, I don't know I don't know

Oh, the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
Ooh, I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps turnin'
Ooh, I don't know I don't know I don't know, ohoh
Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
Don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Ooh, the wheel in the sky keeps turnin'
Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'

This is one of the unexpected and infrequent gems that makes RP my favorite radio station.  It brought my husband out of an adjacent room to ask “Did you switch stations from RP? This is Journey…a Journey deep cut.  Not what I expected to hear.” I love a curveball like this.  It makes me run for the comment section to see if anyone commented.  Thanks Bill.
I was definitely surprised to hear this song here. I was never that much into Journey, but I always liked this one (and still do).
How can I suggest Radio Paradise to a friend and they hear this when they tune in, I would be so embarassed.  I've already heard it over 1,000,000 times. I have limits
There are interesting gaps in the posts. There are several for the last 6 months, then nothing until 4 years ago, and continuing back in time, again nothing until 8 years ago. Can I conclude that this was kept out of rotation twice for 3-4 years each time? If so, I wonder why?
I kept waiting for this to turn into something that was sampling Journey.

Radio fatigue
Interesting tidbit on a comment Steve Perry made about his relationship with the band:

During an episode of VH1's Behind the Music
in 2001, Perry stated that he "never really felt like [he] was part of
the band". Former manager Herbie Herbert reacted by saying, "That's like
the Pope saying he never really felt Catholic."

LOL. All the have to do is hang on for 9 more minutes, and they will hear "Kiko and the Lavender Moon".

Hang on for another 9 minutes and they'll hear Neko Case or Harry Manx, and all will be well again.

Or press the "skip this" button.
I very rarely need to hit skip on RP,,,, but this!
Wheel in the sky. Huh? I mean WT everlovin F does that mean.
OMG - NO?!
Still not good, after all.
15 years later, it bears repeating....

“Dude, next slow song I'm totally going to ask her to dance....

—seabass “

This song still doesn’t deserve to be played on RP.
I love it.
But for those who feel a need to whine about a song they dislike- I heard on the internet that if you can fill out and submit the online form #A.19.0.f (3) before the song ends, Bill will refund a prorated % of your money, guaranteed!  {#Think}

Or Tori Amos!  So true.  Just rock out, for goodness' sake

can't stand Journey. That guy's voice just grates on my nerves.
this is one of those 70's driving songs that I may leave on, even crank it up, it's fun-bad (maybe Colin Meloy should do a cover of it)
I don't care... This is one of my first albums ever bought... Hate all you want... High school memories are still strong
More.

Play it more. Often.
Supernatural! {#Motor}
Damn, thought I accidentally tuned into an AM oldies station. Hoped I'd never hear this again but unfortunately I was wrong.
Glad this hardly ever gets played.  Could do with hearing it even less.
No.

For many of us, I don't think it's a matter of being musical snobs. A whole lot of people had no use for "Jouuuur-neeey" when it was current tripe on FM radio and even less use for it on RP now. Lately we've been hearing other crap here too, like Billy Squire and Billy Idol.

I know 24/7 programming is a lot of selections to come up with constantly and I don't always like everything here, but we can hear these bands anytime on corporate radio.

Perhaps Bill & Rebecca are just testing reactions, but much more of this and I say we riot!

Photo of angry old woman glaring into camera

She hated it then. She hates it now. Turn that racket down.

And who is this "Lazarus" you're hanging out with, and his riff-raff friends in that dingy hotel room? Can't you find a nicer radio station?
Bill, this sucks.
To put it succinctly, I Iisten to RP so I don't have to hear this shit
You know, say what you will about the pop riffs and the cheesy lyrics, but these guys could flat out play their instruments. I feel like this conversation is had all the time here, but there are far less talented musicians, writing far more earnestly, who would probably give their left testicles for some of what Journey accomplished. 70s guitar rock rules!
Sorry folks, loved it for a bunch of reasons. Thought it was an interesting choice & in this format it was fun. You are all a bit pretentious, get over congratulating yourselves for your exquisite musical tastes.

Sorry, but I can't agree w/ this.  Generally, I can take just about anything, even stuff that I really, really dislike, but this is such tripe that my hair stands on end when I hear it.  Rhianna et al are just plain pop trash — kinda like drinking a crummy grape soda; this one is like drinking cod-liver oil and I gotta go puke now.  Journey was awful back when it came out, and it has only mouldered since then....

Bill, really?  There are other more satisfying strolls down memory lane.  Perhaps you could play some KISS instead, and then we could marvel at their stylie outfits.  Zappa was contemporaneous and brilliant.  Donovan was very light and fluffy, and his voice isn't whiny like a cat that's being throttled.  Van Morrison actually wrote good music, as did Elton John, or Lynnard Skynnard.
I think this is Garbage
Okay. I actually had sex. With a girl! A really hot girl, way back in the seventies while this song played.

And it STILL SUCKS!
I thought Journey had been banned from the airwaves??

Bubonic plague was a very important part of European and Asian history - does that mean people should be subjected to it again?  In a way, this song is so bad that it's sort of good for a laugh.
I always fely really priviliged that Journey were never very popular in the UK.

Ghastly.
Bill - I'd love to buy you a beer.

{#Cheers}

Thanks for keeping everyone on their toes...it's fun to watch (and listen!)

Please make RP a Journey free station!
hey it's RADIO paradise, need a cpl hits to keep it interesting, it's proven.

Wow !  What's next ?.... REO Speedwagon ?

I felt 18 years old there for a minute and I didn"t like it AT ALL! :p
Wow.... Didn't expect this... 6
Am I hearing things? Journey on RP? Yecch, and so out of place here.
I like it, and from the ratings it is a quite diverse set of feelings on this one
My First 45..... STILL AWESOME
From the comments it looks like this has been played four times in nine years. There are some pretty weak stomachs out there!

Bad song. Horrible band. Eclectic my ass. It's just awful. Try to be eclectic with good music, this is shit.

Agreed. You shouldn't play an awful song like "Wheel in The sky" just to call yourself eclectic. That's going too far. It was a crap song from Day One and always will be.

Reminds me of the game an FM station in DC used to play: "Make it stop." Listeners had to call in and identify a wretched tune of the past; mercifully the music would stop as soon as it was named. This song would have been a prime candidate for that torture.

Rebecca of Paradise, CA wrote: Careful, we might have to break out the Boston!

Given that Boston recorded its first and by far best album in my hometown, I personally wouldn't mind if you did play something from that record.

Here I was, cleaning the bathroom. Got my hand in the toilet and this song comes on...Hmmm kinda cosmic connectionish
LOVE IT !..{#Dancingbanana}

Reminds me of my worst girlfriend ever. In fairness, I shall abstain from rating it.

You can say what you want about Journey, Boston, etc. (and I'm sure you will), but I'll tell you what - these songs absolutely ROCK to play live! There's a reason they were such big arena attractions back in the day, and it's not entirely due to cheap drugs.  {#Bananajam}

I agree with the previous comment. Play it again, Bill. Why? Here's why:

Definition of ECLECTIC

1. selecting what appears to be best in various doctrines, methods, or styles
2. composed of elements drawn from various sources; also : heterogeneous

So playing Journey every day, along with a variety of other classic rock/pop hits that anyone can listen to on ANY generic, homogenized format geared to the lowest common denominator of crass, money-driven commercialization: that is NOT eclectic

Playing the odd Journey song (or yes, Boston, Kansas, or ELP song - that's about as far down that rabbit-hole as I am willing to go) on an otherwise outstanding, taste and personality driven station that specializes in interesting, smart, always moving and lovely mixes of almost every style of music that humans have produced over the years? THAT is eclectic.

Now, Motley Crue? THAT might be taking it too far {#Bananajam}{#Angel}. Keep on jamming, y'all.

Ha Ha!!  Love it Bill!
I can't ever remember hearing Journey on RP, but I'm glad they made it.

God awful song, I need to cleanse my ears.

Dammit! Why didn't I say this?
This song came on RP and almost gave me whiplash!  But I was surprised at how much it made me smile to hear this for the first time in a very long time.  Thanks for the diversity!
Great, now I know what's going to be stuck in my head for the next 2 days....

Oh come on, Bill and Rebecca, play it again. It'd be fun.
Journey is a great guilty pleasure. Can we really fault them for crafting some of the catchiest pop/rock songs the last 25 years? Are we that pretentious that a periodical Journey, Kansas, Toto or Andy Kim song will cause us to turn down the radio?

Hahahaha! Never thought I'd hear Journey on RP! W.W.J.D.? Check it: (click here)
Please, Please, Please, NEVER do that again. Radio of this format even at that time did NOT play Journey. That was honestly the first time I considered turning down RP. Just for the record, Boston and Kansas also fall into this category. So much good stuff and so little time, lets not waste it on nonsense. Thanks, Bob

Wild to hear this into Nirvana "Come As You Are". More interestingly, it worked. Once Greg Rolie left, the full "fury" of Steve Perry blasted away whatever connection the music had to that of their first couple of albums. Perry, unchecked, proceeded to "conquer" radio and destroy what had been an image built on the music performed quite credibly. IMO, "Look Into The Future" and "Of a Lifetime" should be heard before passing full comment on this band.
What...in... thee...f-aargh. Journey spells the beginning of the end for Radio Paradise. The only possible way to redeem playing this song, although not the song itself, would be to play some of the 90s alt rock that was spawned by the gross excesses this song defines... oh. Nevermind. ;)
HA!!! this comment cracked me up, sea...baass...!! Ha, HA...HA!! careful not to step on her toes, dude...that would be bad. totally diggin the crusty Journey and the "wheel" theme this afternoon. It's like a little brain teaser to see if we're paying attention. B'tchen, Dude! Seabass wrote:

Interesting...the album that shows for this song is Gillian Welch's Soul Journey. How I wish any song from that album were playing instead of this rubbish.

Never thought I'd here this on RP.

Laughing out loud at the office. Roll on like a big wheel. Not that Escape didn't just RAWK when I was a young'n.
