A 10. So there.

Did he mention Maryland? Man, I would rather not they know we exist, they might want to come here.

Gryn, thanks, you're amazing. Love them. A lot.
I like 'em. They don't suck as bad as y'all say. Adam is endearing in a Make-Your-Own-Teddy-Bear kinda way. They could benefit from a guttier sound, though, and a few less songs which sound like Adam squealing into a sock puppet. This particular song isn't hateful and very nearly rocks. 7.
Liked the first album; it's been all downhill since then.
I didnt like this as much as the "August and Everything After" work. It was a tough act to follow, even if it was their act.
But if you have a record contract and gotta eat, I guess you got keep going on and work with the inspiration you have at the time.
Less whiny than their worst stuff.
This sounds like the same thing they've been doing for years. ARGH.

Yes, but if negative number ratings were possible I still don't think it's possible to rate the Counting Crows low enough.
CRAP!!!!!!!

You're way too kind.
An absolutely solid and well deserved "1" for a band with no staying power other than being momentary darlings of college radio.
Oh christ make it STOP! PLEASE!!!

I have to agree. Grew up on the Bay...one of the most special places in the world...I remember meeting Adam and his crew in Philly in the early 90's when they were just getting started. they have written some really wonderful songs...and some mediocre ones as well. Cheers to MD!
"I may not go to heaven but I hope you go to hell!" Note to self: Keep that line for some future correspondence. These guys have their moments, but I don't think I could sit through more than 1 song at a time -- there's so much pain in the vocals it makes ME hurt!
A decent band in desperate need of a singer ...
Fingernails on a chalkboard....Yep that about sums up Adam's voice..

My God, this song just gave me hives
aaarggghhhhh
ugh. no. bad.
I love the Counting Crows. Call them my guilty pleasure.
Anyone know who's voice is the harmony in this song? There must be someone else here who actually likes this song and CC...

How can this be avging in the sixes - these guys are weak as weak can be.
Yeah, kinda the Mariah Carey of "rock" - blech
dapower wrote:

Counting Crows is whining music - weak it is. . . Annoying. . . Suckety suck.
Typically poor offering from CCs. I'd almost rather hear the Gin Blossoms.
I just don't get the appeal of this band...hope it ends REALLY soon
Spins when she spins
I love the lyrics to this song, from the Crows "psychadelic album". Excellent.
Again with the biggest pretentious band in the world with a tune that sounds like "black boys on mopeds". You know the one by that Irish Lass?

This album was produced by David Lowery of Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven. This "hidden track"/recording test is classic Cracker fare. Check Crackersoul.com for details. Just like the end of Kerosene Hat with several hidden surprises on track 69 "Eurotrash Girl", and 86 " I ride my bike".
Awesome album by a great band.
I remember listening to Kerosene Hat the first time... was laying on the floor in front of the speakers, then fell asleep after i thought it was over, and FREAKED OUT when track 69 came on!!!

Love the Counting Crows! For some reason, they end up in my rotation more than lots of my other music.
Okay, it's true, I'm like a teenager for the guy singers, Adam, Anthony, etc.
Classic Counting Crows. A solid 3, like everything else they do.

CC reminds me of an old girlfriend. Not in a good way. :( I'm over it 10 years and a wonderful marriage later, but it just reminds me of the long distance commute to get to something that should have ended earlier. That's life, though, and that's the power of what songs do to you.
Haaaa....! What a WONDERFUL analogy! Compliment "Bobrk". Still smiling!
And you're so right! CC were SURELY a "one-CD-wonder". Their second CD is among the worst I've ever listened too. That alone discredited them TOTALLY! I'd wish they were beautiful...!!!

Agreed, really like this album though for the most part, this tune is particularly catchy.

I quite like their live stuff, which is easily found on the 'net - they don't mind tapers and such.
I never liked this band, but the music always takes me back to the warm fuzzy memories of the 90's.

Yes I think there is something very wrong with you, some people refers to it as "being anal".
in a house where regret is a carousel ride we are spinning
and spinning

Cool . Gonna hafta check out the whole cd.
This is the gem of the album. CC have always had a remarkable ability to encapsulate a feeling in a brilliant, poetic way. Adam is particularly good at expressing many feelings at once: sadness, angst, joy... toghether...
CC is still one of the best American bands ever... and for those of you complianing that it's not as good as A&EA.... that album will never be topped, how could it be? It's not possible. Also, it was the time it emerged too...at the height of grunge... the time music appears can have just as much too do with the quality of the music as the music itself...

Weird, I don't have the leisure time to seize their spelling mistakes, neither now nor in the future either.
By the way, good song from a slightly patchy Crows album. Hard Candy is better, but their best album (for me anyway) is always going to be Recovering The Satellites.

I really like this band. The singer is good, as long as he doesn't start repeating "yaaaaa, yaaa, yaaa" too much. He does that sometimes.
I love this song and I love the voice of the singer!

Yay! My fave song on this album. Nice choice!
This song\'s good but not too keen on this album or the latest one. They\'re not a patych on the first two which I love. August & Everything After in particular is just brilliant. One of my favourite albums probably.

The man is an amazing song-writer, it\'s as simple as that.
The Counting Crows, in my opinion, have the most poetic lyrics of any modern band. I love this song!
I get a perverse pleasure from liking artists which generate so much hate in others (i.e. Neil Young, Smiths etc.). Sorry about this!
