I feel a hot wind on my shoulder
And the touch of a world that is older
I turn the switch and check the number
I leave it on when in bed I slumber
I hear the rhythms of the music
I buy the product and never use it
I hear the talking of the DJ
Can't understand, just what does he say?
I'm on a Mexican radio
I'm on a Mexican (whoa) radio
I dial it in and tune the station
They talk about the U.S. inflation
I understand just a little
''No comprende'', it's a riddle
I'm on a Mexican radio
I'm on a Mexican (whoa) radio
I'm on a Mexican radio
I'm on a Mexican (whoa) radio
I wish I was in Tijuana
Eating barbecued iguana
I'd take requests on the telephone
I'm on a wavelength far from home
I feel a hot wind on my shoulder
I dial it in from south of the border
I hear the talking of the DJ
Can't understand, just what does he say?

YYYEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
This sounds like it wouldn't be out of place as a Green Day or B52s B-side to my ears.
Whahaha, having this song fade in when "No One Knows" from QOTSA fades out, is just hilarious . Nice one, Bill, haha.
I can't help but do a happy little bounce when this song comes on.

In Arizona, back in the day, the line was "eating sun fried iguana." I'm not sure why the two versions, but always liked this song.
Good song. Good GIF. So who was more racist? Loony Tunes or Disney?

this song reminds me of the time me and my gramma hit spring break in cancun..after gramma hit her liquor limit she started the world's longest cha cha line ever recorded..we were on all kinds of mexican radios that day..buenos tiempos, gracias gramma and wall of voodoo too i guess.

One of the first MTV hits ... in my opinion.
Wow, haven't heard this tune in decades! Bravo, Radio Paradise! Mind your own business, jimtyyrell!!

Graham Gouldman is a genius. Saw him in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. Great songwriter. His songs survive in a small setting.

MMMmmm... barbecued iguana.
Iguana sux, too bony. Like chicken with fish bones, really bony. Love the song, needs to be followed by some Timbuk 3.

Love this song. Only heard this once before on the radio, when English DJ John Peel played it in the late 80's.

That was an absolutely hilarious, genius transition from QOTSA's No One Knows. You aced it, amigo.
I love most of the stuff Stan Ridgway has done over the years. I especially liked the soundtrack to Rumble Fish that he and Stewart Copeland worked on together. He should have gotten a lot more attention in my opinion.
Love it!

Should have known BillG would play this on Cinco de Mayo! I'd love some barbecued iguana right now...
Great tune! One of the better songs to come out of the 80's. Captures the era nicely.

Reminds me of living in San Diego in the early 90s — Used to hear this on 91X all the time. Good times and good memories.
Play some 60s Rock!
Very cool tune.
Paging Frank Zappa. Paging Frank Zappa. You are wanted in Voice Print Identification.

the image of the face coming up out of the bowl of beans burns vividly still !
Kinda have to redefine the word "classic" for this song.

Had my own moment but it was a station in New Orleans (La Fabulousa) and the DJ was from Costa Rica. The lady I was pursuing at the time was listening to it and he did a shout out to the two of us, so I understood Tanya and JP.

I owned their 1987 album "Happy Planet"
From there I enjoyed this Beach Boys cover of "Do it again"

I always thought Bill should add their version of "Ring of Fire" It's really surreal and infamous for it legally being used in a certain surreal porn movie... That song with heavy surf-type guitar and this guys distinctive delivery it's always been a fav..

I recently took a 10-day road trip in a car with Sirius XM radio. Heard this about six times. Not that that's bad, but compared to RP satellite radio pales.
Coworker just lamented the fact that they only made this one song...

This entire album is awesome and has a definite 'southwest 80s/festival' sound to it. A sound that is unique and unpretentious.

For me, this is one of those classic songs that made watching MTV so much fun back in 1983. Of course it wasn't complete unless you had the cable splitter that allowed the awesome experience of hearing the music IN STEREO!
