I asked my Norwegian relatives; they said it was an old Nordic language that hasn't been used for hundreds of years?
Wow. Bumped it from 8 to 10.

That was hilarious
I saw these folks Aug 2012. One of the best live shows I've ever attended. Transcendent.

Totally agree! All in all, I loved the show, very interesting concept. Even considering several of WTF moments.
It really divides opinion this one doesn't it? First time I've heard it and it's gone into my 7 and over favorites - that may change next time I hear it :-)

why do you care what other people think?
Synthesized kitty cat 😸
….so boring
Just great!

Thank you, that's the best laugh I've had all afternoon.🐨
If you can watch their movie Heima, do so. For me it’s a religious experience.
Indeed they opened for Radiohad back in '98 (and maybe many times since)

Sooner listen to nothing and that's what I like about this band.
Meeeeoooow?

Nothing weird about it, friend.  Lots of us have been there and done that. Desperate times, that's for sure.  I wish you well.

Umm...OK. What's her number?
I am so glad I saw them live a couple of times. The best show on Earth. Unfortunately, I don’t think they will ever perform again after their long-time drummer left under a cloud. Jonsi’s done some good solo stuff as well.
The song is called 'Popplagið'.

I saw them twice: in 2016 at the Hollywood Bowl and 2017 in a small theater. Incredible show both times
I was hipped to these folks via the Sens8 TV series. The cancelled-far-too-soon TV series.
If you've ever seen Sigur Ros live, you'll know that this song is the closer to end all closers!
Maybe someday I will like Sigur Rós. They get a lot of airplay on the eclectic channel. The more I listen, the more I get it.
Hearing this live was close to overwhelming and certainly near exhausting. Exiting the show we could hardly find words to express the experience. A wall of audio emotion. Thanks for playing
That song is just brilliant. One of my ever favorites. And it gets even better if you watch the visual live performance of eg. the Heima Tour, 2006 in Reykjavik.

Just speechless and your skin is fully covered with goosebumps.

I like the first half....but it's the only song that always generates a "What the F%*k are you listening to" from downstairs.  Every....single....time.

so many amazeballs songs. Maybe its the epic traditional, dramatic chords that people keep bashing on but they slay me. Luv them.

This piece is fascinating!!!
Hmm, Radiohead-y. Interesting, awesome!
Quite possibly the best piece of music ever created.  Even better live with brass and string sections.

Totally agree with RP having become the "soundtrack of my Life", and am sadly understanding of that horror and weirdness of watching my mother disappear into Alzheimers. In her case, Early Onset - began at 58 (my age now) and "gone" by 63, yet another 11 years to die. My heart goes out to you @sonicsurfer.
Weird and compelling.   Thanks for playing.
So powerful hearing this live in concert.
DAMMIT !!!!   PSD IS NOT WORKING !!!!!!!!!
I love this whole album, thanks for playing.

For me the first couple minutes were frustrating, but after that it was all amazing.  At first I wondered why I had previously rated it as high as 8, and then I wondered why I hadn't rated it a 9 or 10.

12 minutes of puzzlement, amazement and eventually, delight. Had to use Shazaam to find the name since I was listening to a very old cd that I burned while listening to RP. I think the non-English vocals add to the flavor. Once of the best crescendos ever.  Good job of finding this, Bill.
10 with no doubts for this masterpiece full of beauty.

Of course I have no idea what this guy is ever saying, but I can't think of anyone who knows how to build drama in a song better than this guy.

Me likee.

Much better than the new album, I'm glad this is getting play as well.

- Hey, that's good! Now for the second line ... umm.
- ... umm ...
- Why don't we sing the first line again? I think those are very strong lyrics.
- Yeah! Cool! And for third?
- Umm, oh sod it.

when in the mood, lie on the sofa close your eyes and listen to the whole () album. Transforming... (I guess some of the critics here only will say "yeah, had a good sleep". Ain't so. Its more like going to a movie that has not been made yet, accoustical tickling triggering an epic saga and amazing landscapes. Very relaxing) majestic is a good word one of you used further below

I am finding myself having similar reactions to this band. I had this rated at 8--God only knows why--now down to 2. Sounds like a cat in heat.
gah! my ears!

Every time before they perform this live they have to go to the animal shelter and get a new cat.
Ick! edit: That was terrible!

Will someone please leave that cat alone!?!
Are there so many RP listeners who have a "buffer overrun" when listening to an elaborated piece of art longer than 3 minutes? If you let yourself free you can meditate in a finale furioso and can wake up repowered. Thx Bill!
I can recognize that I would normally hate this song, but at 10am Sunny Saturday morning in Seattle reading about wine with the windows open it is just perfect; 7.
Beautiful and hypnotic, but that's just me.

What he said! But I think the interminable strangled cat sounds are what get to some people
My first 2!
Boy, that went on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on . . .
9:30 am. Traying to get the work day started. This DOES NOT help! Ugh! ---- 5 minutes later... Cheezum Cripes! Is this the longest "song" in Paradise's repertoire? Good thing I can already see there's Beatles coming to save the morning. Is this song Bill's way of showing us what purgatory is like, if we don't keep up with the memeber's contributions!? YAAARGH!

Well it's 10 pm now here in Germany - a better fitting time for this. Too long? This track evolves perfectly, it couldn't be any second shorter. I'm melting every time I hear it. P.S.: Rated 6.2 after >550 votes. Seems that those appreciating it just enjoy instead of typing polemic remarks?

The drumming is excellent, but the melody gets annoying. Is that... "tortilla" I hear?
...think I recall this song from the "Alvin & The Chipmunks Go To Hell" soundtrak.
Icelandic version of Floyd's 'Echoes'...I don't know what that means...but I just said it, so there.
Any connection to Morning Jacket?
