We were brown and we were down
We were black and we were slack
We are diggin' us a hole
There is nothin' in this bowl
On the way to kansas city
Tell me who i'm supposed to be
It's raining rain
It's raining snow
Tell me where you wanna go
I don't wanna take your call
I refuse to climb your wall
I don't wanna ride your bus
I am tired of all of us
On the way to kansas city
Tell me who i'm supposed to be
It's raining rain
It's raining snow
Tell me where you wanna go
We were black and we were slack
We are diggin' us a hole
There is nothin' in this bowl

Am a big fan of Luna. More please. 23 Minutes in Brussels is worth a listen too. Thanks RP for all the great music.

The riffs in the outro remind me of The Cure.
Dean Wareham and co.!
First time hearing this,
had to look up who it is,
really a good tune!

JUST A GUESS. But I doubt the artist that covered Jimi Hendrix "Voodoo Child" pictured is not the same as this group of artists. That would be Luna Lee, not Luna, the group.

Love 'em both ... good to hear some Luna, almost forgot about them.
Sounds like the FEELIES!

So-so song, but an interesting and evocative CD cover. Says a lot in a simple but carefully-constructed photo.
love this band - saw them on their final tour - ROCKIN'!
The rhythm section has a perfect "bopping" thing going. Very nice.
Nice song!
Is it just me? The singer distantly (!) reminds me of Billy Corgan.
Anyway - good stuff!

What's this shit Bill? Can u call this music? Where did the talent go? Fuck this piece of noise junk, let's stick to the good ol' stuff
love the Luna, and my favorite line ever:
"there is nothing in this bowl"
"there is nothing in this bowl"
Yup. Nice 'n simple but compelling.
Likin' Luna.
criminally underrated band. In another note, I haven't heard anything by them, but how good are Dean and Britta?
likin Luna

I heard Yo La Tengo, myself.
Ha. My grandmother had that same painting.
Fun.

I agree about the comment about The Cure. I'm not a big fan of them but they have their own sound. (Or they did)
Sounds like the feelies, looks like wild horses, keep it rolling stoned.
Breathiness of Red House Painters + scariness of Robyn Hitchcock?
oddly enough...the first incarnation of this band had the feelies drummer Stanley Demeski...he was long gone by the time this came out though! circular world, funny.

That's what minimalism is all about. Keeping it simple.

Interesting cover for this album. Looks like a cheap to mid priced hotel room, with a girl getting drunk.
I think the deed has already been done--witness the cigarette. A lot being said in a very simple image.
I was sure this song was by Frank Black - go figure.

I like that cover a lot. Not like that Kan'nal album cover full of s*%t. I love simple album covers that tell a lot. That's what minimalism is all about. Keeping it simple.

I knew I'd heard that bass line before - just couldn't place it. Good ear!

Yeah, that bass line is such a blatent rip off it is funny.
Lunas don't cry
Luna played their last show as a band on Feb 28th. I saw them many times over the last 14 years. I only have 3 words left to say...Play More Luna!

interesting (and delicious) choice. 8)
Always liked 'em, but they never cracked my upper-tier faves...they are on their farewell tour after 15 years or so
bass player is a Cure fan (Just Like Heaven) or so it sounds

I agree w/ stickittotheman, ersatz Dinosaur Jr. Not that that's a bad thing. I like J. Mascis's nasally soul whine better though. Still, decent.
I used to love Galaxie 500. Dean has a great voice. :)
Nice Song.. love the speed.
Show me Show me Show me how to do that trick....
wait.
Different song and band
same bass line though.
Knew nothing about this band prior to finding RP. May have to check them out next year as I have far exceeded my CD budget for 2004.

Interesting, I have noticed a Gandalf, a Faramir and a Luthien...cool.
Uhm, was it just me or was that song a long bunch of silence??
Never mind... I heard it this time...
Kinda reminds me of that Todd Snider song....
"we refused to play the acoustic versions of the electrical songs that we refused to record in the first place."
"Silence. Music's original alternative."
