Lyrics:

He's got fasting black lungs
Made of clove-splintered shards
They're the kind that will talk
Through a wheezing of coughs
And I hear him every night
In every pore
And every time he just makes me warm

Freeze without an answer
Free from all the shame
Must I hide
'Cause I'll never, never sleep alone

Look at how they flock to him
From an isle of open sores
He knows that the taste is such
Is such to die for
And I hear him every night
On every street
The scales that do slither
Deliver me from...

Freeze without an answer
Free from all the shame
Then I'll hide
'Cause I'll never, never sleep alone
Oh Lord

Said I'm, said I'm, said I'm,
Said I'm bloodshot for sure
Pale runs the ghost
Swollen on the shore

Every night
In every pore
The scales that do slither
Deliver me from...Freeze without an answer
Free from all the shame
Then I'll hide
'Cause I'll never, never sleep alone

Freeze without an answer
Free from all the shame
Let me die
'Cause I'll never, never sleep alone
Hmm - I gave it a 10 just because it's from one of the best albums ever done. But it shouldn't be played without the whole album around it. I'd love to put the complete album as one single song here, but it wouldn't be played ;)
Listened to the whole album last night. It blew my mind like no other album has ever done before. Playing a single song from it definitely doesn't do this album any justice.
Yust awesome... gave it 10, because the whole album is really godlike... must listen to the whole "Frances the mute" to understand...
The ending is just perfect when you listen to the whole album.. Mars Volta can't really be played one song at a time, because they tell a long story, which is pretty characteristic for progressive rock. I realize that the version played here might not be one that's vry good for radio use, as everyone don't fancy listening to 2minute song and 3minute ambience, but I simply love this one :D
time to give it another go'round with the radio edit so noobs to The Mars Volta won't be so instantly turned off. the ending is just ambient noodling between tracks - i'm a huge fan, and even i find it mildly annoying (at least when not heard in context of the entire album, that is).

Um. I'll have to apologize. Evidently the version of this that I heard previously was a radio edit. That's what I get for not listening carefully - ALL the way through - to everything that gets added.
I agree, I've heard this song before on the radio but after reading your comments I'm pulling my 9 rating down to a modest 4 until I hear this ending. Aparently it's so bad It's filled 2 pages of comments in one day and has a rating of 2.5.

And here I thought you were just trying to see if we were paying attention.

NASTY.
Obviously who ever rated this a 9 didn't get the the ending of the song and who ever rated this a 10 read the postings and tried to be funny.....arggggg.......
That was 'not' fun!
it's really funny to see how quickly everyone started posting and rating this song as it degraded into awful noise
Different ;)
I hate this song. I hate it with my whole being. Please never play it again.
The first 2/3 of the song was pretty appealing, but what was that mashup at the end? Randomity is a good thing, but not as the backbone of the song itself (IMHO).
lol. this started out with 3 comments. now there are 30 thanks to this ending.
BILL, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NEVER PLAY THIS AGAIN. LOOK AT THE RATINGS AND COMMENTS, MAN!!!!!!!!! (WHO GAVE THIS A NINE??)

This is God awful. I just changed the chanel.
Me too. Worse than 'The Seeds'.
Man that ending was awful. I had to eventually press the "mute" button.
Did someone die and collapse onto the synthesizer? Please. Make. It. Stop.
Who gave a recording contract to these guys!!!">
This is terrible. I switched away from that horrible ending for a couple of minutes, and came back and it was STILL going.
started off ok, but then devolved rather quickly into some horrible noise, ugggh
Seriously, this is the worst thing I have ever heard on Radio Paradise. What Mystery Science Theater 3000 movie was this in?
Yes -- pleeeeeze make it stop!!!
I'm picturing someone dancing on top of their keyboard...... this isn't pretty.
NO. turn it off.. wait, i can do that.
I almost never give 1's, but I'll make an exception on this. THIS IS TERRIBLE!
Is this a test?........... :x
The ending is really annoying!!!
Terrible!!!
PLEASE -- someone make it STOP!!!

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! This is absolutely killing me!!!!!! Too bad there's not a "0" rating on here. That organ solo or whatever at the end would have earned one for this.
This is God awful. I just changed the channel.
Please make this stop!
Make it stop!! It sounds like a vinyl record that's been left too close to a radiator.
sounds good loud... EDIT: changed my mind! it was good for a while.
Nuh-uh.
