You move in waves
You never retrace
Your newest craze
Straight out of the face by the bed unread
I'm left behind
Like all the others
Some fall for you
It doesn't make much difference if they do
She changes every time you look
By summer it was all gone - now she's moved on
She called you every other day
So savour it it's all gone - now she's moved on
So for a while
Everything seemed new
Did we connect?
Or was it all just biding time for you?
She changes every time you look
(All gone away)
By summer it was all gone - now she's moved on

This song still kicks ass! I like both versions.
Chris was good on harmonies too.

Yes - this song is a unique opportunity to compare, as Chris plays on the original version and then Gavin on a newer version that was a hidden track on Deadwing.

This comment make me laughing : BARLEY JAMES HARVEST ON ACID.......
Of course the song brings back some things that were allready recorded....but what does it matter ? Who is original ?
I love it Bil,l and i am gonna buy it. Greetings from the Netherlands, Peter Bos

Deadwing is alive and kicking.
She threatened to strip off all her clothes and parade back and forth in front of the local Wal Mart store if Steven Wilson and the lads do not put out another Porcupine Tree CD.
Relayer promises to eat fire and swallow swords.
Westslope threatens to smote anybody who says (or writes) anything negative about Pocupine Tree with a soft cardboard placard. Or maybe a squirt gun loaded with municipal water.
It could become a movement. Arlo Guthrie is unfamiliar with the music but he wants to join in too.

I swear I will see them the next time they come to town!
Attention PT fans (and I'm a BIG one). Do yourself a favor. If you can't see one of their shows, pick up the DVD's of their live performances on Anesthetize and Arriving Somewhere. Watching and experiencing this band perform live is another level you aren't getting by just listening to their music. Steven Wilson and the entire band are soooo excellent live. I have to break out these DVD's regularly. Listening to a CD just isn't the same as seeing them perform.

Excellent music!!! Like my other favorite PT tunes, this is dynamic, both in volume and in musical structure - going from soft, sweet, harmonies to loud fuzzy guitar - but with vocals that are still very clear. Great lyrics too!
Love these guys!
Takes my breath away.
Another classic. I can't imagine anyone not loving this.

Chris did back up vocals as well. Pretty good voice. Now they supplemant Steven with John Wesley whose voice is more unique than Chris's voice.
And it's nice to have a second guitarist in concert so that Steve can be more playful (or play acoustic so John can rip). And he can solo pretty well, I might add.
Getting very excited about seeing them in a couple of months. Hopefully they will pull more songs from previous albums and not focus so heavily on the Incident.
Yeah, I'm excited about PT hitting Richmond Virginia for the first time. I'll be curious to see how big a draw they are here. Up in the D.C. area they have become quite popular.

Such a great band - thank you Radio Paradise - I am just planning a trip to see the three shows in Australia, flying out from the UK Feb 2010, crazy but it will be worth it. Seen them so many times and they just get better and better.
Saw the Boston show with my wife. Mostly newer work, all good. Never tire of these guys. And, yes, Wilson was barefoot. A man beside me had his son with him who is learning to drum and admires Gavin. Not surprising!

I was at that show. Really very nice but the Egg in Albany is still my favorite venue. Better acoustics, better stage, better seats (if you can even get one at the House of Blues!), the best architecture for a band, and the parking garage is right below the building.
Still a great value in Boston at 21.50 a ticket!
I still like this song as the last one on Deadwing. Only cause Gavin is pounding it out and he really lets loose on this song. He is something to watch live. That and Steven in Bare feet.

one of my favourites... so good...
Excellent rockin guitar + drums. There is a thread throughout this song that brings to mind the call signal tune from Radio Netherlands (shortwave)...This CD is so good. At first listen I didn't think it was much, but like so many other PT CDs it is all consuming. My wife accused me of being nuts cause she heard me play 'recycled earth' 3 times in the same day.. Russia on Ice ROCKS..the drums KICK!
Deadwing: I tuned out of RP on a song I didn't particularly like... and tried morow.com the French prog rock station. Lightbulb Sun came on. It sounded tinny. I switched to my 192 k files on my hard-drive.
This CD keeps growing on me. Even Last Chance to Recycle Planet Earth just keeps growing and growing.
My favourite sequence is:
+ The Rest Will Flow
+ Hate Song
+ Where We Would Be
which coincidentally all follow Last Chance to Recycle Planet Earth.

The Deadwing version is way better, and better produced. Gavin Harrison is on drums and he really lights it up! So for me, the latter version is king.
For those of us that have the original version of this album, Disappear is far more compelling than it is in the remastered album. Just my humble opinion, of course.
I have Lightbulb Sun already It is just amazing! All you guys are in for a treat! Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth and Russia on Ice! Feel So Low and Hate Song yum!
And We Lost The Skyline is just awesome =] Great interpretations of the songs and really fun banter

I went to see these boys in Albany last year (great show of course!) and one of the people we met there told me this was his favorite album. I can know see why. From this song to Hate Song, to Disappear, this album is really full of gems.
