It only takes a little bit of gleam or glimmer
Only just a little bit of shake or shiver
Nothing never matters 'til it's shattered
Spluttered and covered, splattered all over my nap
And sha, sha, sha sha sha-doobie
Sometimes it's really just like the movies
Was a glimpse, a little bit of nothing, make a difference
And nothing's been the same since the chain of events
It's the place where dreams come true
Dreams can still be nightmares too
And ah sha, sha, sha sha whoa whoa
So much it's close enough for rock 'n roll
Should have told me the world was gonna tie me back a sweater
Poets from the days of old have never said it better
Sometimes it really glitters and sometimes it's even gold
Baby, when it isn't then, it must be rock 'n roll
And ah sha, sha, sha sha sha-doobie
Sometimes it's really just like the movies
Sha, sha, sha sha sha-doobie
Sometimes you just stay home and watch movies
Only just a little bit of shake or shiver
Nothing never matters 'til it's shattered
Spluttered and covered, splattered all over my nap

Sometimes it's really just like the movies

Weird guitar (de)tuning. But adds to the overall haunting pieces.

Catchy as hell, methinks!
I wonder if they argued over how many sha sha's to put in before the doobie?
This album frustrates me: I've been staring at the cover for near an hour now and still haven't found Waldo.
"less cities, more moving people...."
Maybe it's my boisterous Friday mood, but I just bumped this from 8 to 9. It makes me shimmy in my office chair!
nice tune. Add a sax and could be a Morphine one
Chk Chk Chk <3
Immediate first hear 7. Band started in Sacramento, California.
Bumping this up from a 7 to an 8. Groovy.
What a sexy bassline!

I hear the echo in this of 801's version of Tomorrow Never Knows, which and the original of which is as far as I can tell the Radio Paradise theme song, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Ah, I see I haven't dropped this down to a 1 yet. I think I'll leave it at 2, I'm a sucker for feedback squeals.

You guys got no sense of depth. I am a conservitive, old college radio DJ dude that played alternative before some idiot told us what alternative was suppose to be!!! This tune fits the rails man, and gets the train down track!

Rarely do I post negative comments: but this is dreck.
Am I in a steel mill...
So alternative.
I made the mistake of reading prior comments on this song, but I have to agree. Lame song - no discernable lyrics, and the worst synth I've ever heard. (And I think I might be channeling Simon Cowell.)
Really bad song. Not even gonna rate it.

Your squealiness travels quite well too. Perhaps it was your comment that needed its polarity reversed??
Allow me to clarify. If I have the volume turned down, the squealiness travels very well all the way across the room, but the rest doesn't. When I get closer to the speakers and can hear the OTHER components of the song - i.e., the things that are not the wretched squealy note, the quality of the song does not get better. In other words, the song sucks whether I can hear one of its parts or all of it.

At first listen, I felt that this song expressed raw primal power, carefully and only barely held in check. Then I went over to their website and listened to some samples of their other stuff, which sounded to me like the raw primal power was kept in the basement of another building, probably a long way away from wherever the band lived. Now I can't help but feel this song is a lucky fluke.

ps - How is it that I kinda dig this tune, but I don't dig Frank Black's "(Do What You Want) Gyaneshwar"? One reminds me of the other...
So I'm a sucker and had to follow the link. Well worth it - the result (for those who haven't gone there) is hilarious:
bang
1. A common spoken name for "!" (ASCII 33), especially when used in pronouncing a bang path in spoken hackish. In elder days this was considered a CMUish usage, with MIT and Stanford hackers preferring excl or shriek; but the spread of Unix has carried "bang" with it (especially via the term bang path) and it is now certainly the most common spoken name for "!". Note that it is used exclusively for non-emphatic written "!"; one would not say "Congratulations bang" (except possibly for humorous purposes), but if one wanted to specify the exact characters "foo!" one would speak "Eff oh oh bang".
See pling, shriek, ASCII.
2. An exclamation signifying roughly "I have achieved enlightenment!", or "The dynamite has cleared out my brain!" Often used to acknowledge that one has perpetrated a thinko immediately after one has been called on it.
~ FOLDUC
Spoken hackish? Who knew?
"The dynamite has cleared out my brain!"
Gotta remember that one!
Great song, too BTW...
And Hieronymus Bosch would have loved the cover art! (click here)
...i had to bump this up to a seven, and i still love the cover art...
