This one goes out to you and yours, worldwide
I say hey, I be gone today
But I be back around the way
Seems like everywhere I go
The more I see, the less I know
But I know one thing, that I love you
I love you, I love you, I love you
I've been a lot of places all around the way
I've seen a lot of joy and I've seen a lot of pain
But I don't want to write a love song for the world
I just want to write a song about a boy and girl
Junkies on the corner always calling my name
And the kids on the corner playing ghetto games
When I saw you getting down, well I hoped it was you
And when I looked into your eyes I knew it was true
I say hey, I be gone today
But I be back around the way
Seems like everywhere I go
The more I see, the less I know
But I know one thing, that I love you
I love you, I love you, I love you
Now I'm not a highly metaphysical man
But I know when the stars are aligned
You can bump into a person in the middle of the road
Look into their eyes and you suddenly know
Rocking in the dance hall moving with you
Dancing in the night in the middle of June
My Momma told me don't lose you
'cause the best luck I had was you
I say hey, I be gone today
But I be back around the way
Seems like everywhere I go
The more I see, the less I know
But I know one thing, that I love you
I love you, I love you, I love you
And I said rocking in the dance hall, moving with you
I said hey momma, hey momma close to you
Rocking in the dance hall moving with you
I said hey trippa hey trippa close to you
Rocking in the dance hall, moving with you
I said hey Momma close to you
Rocking in the dance hall I said, hey momma, hey momma, hey momma

The only song on PRP that drops a rating point every time I hear it
I think this is an awesome song and an awesome album.
For 12-year-olds.
For 12-year-olds.
I rolled the PSD dice and came up with The Charlatans. That's gold, Jerry...GOLD!
Man, it is hard to dance while holding a full coffee cup.
"my momma told me don't loose you, cuz the best luck I had was you" sucko-barfo indeed.
I love and respect M. Franti so much - this album is cheesy and meant for the mainstream acceptance of his message - there are so many amazing dongs on "Everybody Loves Music" and "Stay Human"
PLEASE add some of those!!!
This one says, "Hey! I'm hip, I wear Tevas, drive a TDI so I can buy Biodeisel, & shop at Whole Foods."

Really? OK, OK, me likes ... but do not play to much 'K? Thanks!

Yikes, RP. It doesn't happen often, but every once in a while you spin something that makes me flee.
Simply very cheesy and annoying!
So lame ...
I like it - It's on my ipod and always puts a smile on my face when I'm running.
WOOP!! Shakin' the hips!
This is my least favorite Michael Franti song. Sounds so mainstream compared to all his other awesome tunes.

I really like this song, but it is aboslutely unrelated to the album art's claim of "Rebel Rockers". Did I miss the sarcasm?

it's nice to hear that Will has gotten back together with DJ Jazzy Jeff..
Maybe I would have given this a 6 or so, but all I can think of is the beer commercial that uses this and now I have to give it a negative 3...
Time for a direction change.
Saw him open for Santana on Saturday night. Very energetic performer! Good show!
I can feel my brain cells dying.

The guy's been at it since the Beatnigs in 1986 and did his time for art and causes. Everybody has the right to relax and enjoy life when they have worked hard to succeed, it's the way of our happy Capitalist society! Fly the joy flag proudly, Michael. Probably won't wear the Tevas, tho' - dude goes barefoot most of the time. Biscobret wrote:

Really cool song that should never, ever, ever be played again! At least not on any self respecting "Eclectic, non commercial" station.

I STILL love this song, and every time I hear it, I STILL dance to it. I hope that never changes - it's one of the few precious things in my life that make me grin and move my slacker-body at something other than a snail-pace (I hurt in places I didn't know I had, and now that I know I have them, I'm wondering if they have other uses besides inflicting unexpected pain)
Naysayers, go 'head and naysay (that looks like it's something that should be a word spelled backwards... yasyan?!) You like what you like, and so does everyone else. That's the fun of this place.
I'ma dance.

So much fun! Going to ask my love to play this at my funeral. That would be an awesome goodbye.

Cynaera, how can happy be bad? If you can get job from your work, that's great! I get the booty shaking to this one every time too. Seems like every time I ride in the car, it's playing so I car dance!
Story: Last year I was working for H&R Block. I did e-filing, scanning, and organizing. I worked in the basement, which meant I was away from the public, had access to several computers for various tasks, and was basically unsupervised. One of the computers was available for the bookkeeper, who was there once or twice a week. I accessed RP on it, and since I was in the basement, autonomously, I could do whatever I wanted as long as I got my regular work done. So, whenever this song came on RP, I'd dance.
And the very weirdest part is that I apparently did a good enough job that they want me back next tax season. Life is gooood... And so is this song.

Fun song! I like...
We be dancin'... My favorite part is when the music stops for a moment and you can hear the female vocalist make an, "Awww..." sound, like she just picked up a kitten.
I like Franti. This is catchy & sweet.

RP has only played one other of their songs, that I know of. "Yell Fire" from the CD of the same name. I believe MF and Spearhead are kind of an acquired taste. They do have a significant following, though, which is mostly a part of the scene associated with his Power to the Peaceful events and yoga affiliations. :)
Talk about collective consciousness. A friend introduced me to Michael's "Is Love Enough" the other night after my comment here, and I fell in love. I didn't realize he was such a profound contributor... still not fond of this hit, but he now has a special nook in my listening collection!

The more I listen, the more I wonder how on earth it escaped from the world of mainstream radio, and landed smack dab in RP land.

First time I heard this was on Weeds. Just like RP, I've discovered some interesting music from that show...
There's nothing here that's particularly unusual, music-wise, yet I really like this one.

What makes me smile is the altered cover photo. Originally it had a picture of his then girfriend sitting on a saddle with him holding the reins. He has changed girlfriends since then so I guess it was necessary. Now it looks kind of silly, to me at least.

Thanks for playing this - it's a fun song. It's also a routine in my Zumba class, so I had to stop work for a minute to hop from foot to foot and dance around a bit!
I like Franti's shows (I've seen him live at least three times) and a lot of his music but this tune just doesn't do it for me. Yuck.
