I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I became
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
But ultimately it sounds empty to me. Shouting into the void? Shouting at traffic? I don't get it.
For some reason Florence always brings up images of Janice Joplin to my mind..... Go figure that one out..
I do like what they do though.
For me, it's more like Grace Slick, much more of a pure tone, but the emotion behind it seems more like Janice. Riveting either way, or both.

What are the rest of the lyrics, though?
She's starting to show her age but she still puts on a fabulous show. Love her band too!
You're kidding right? she's 36.
You've rated 1,463 songs over the past three years.
You've rated 1,010 of those a 1 (69%).
You've whined and complained in every one of your 47 comments.
Have you considered finding a different station to listen to and another forum to vent your bitterness?
Bahhhhaha - awesome comment scrubbrush
FYI: Gay also means happy!
You're kidding me!
When will the awful shouting stop? Absolutely awful stuff.

I personally enjoy F+tM, but still...
You are likely a Straight White Male...so you deserve it!
This, exactly. London Grammar is more my speed (thanks RP for introducing them to my world BTW!)
Brilliant.
Um, wait ...
So this is your coming out. Lovely.

Tell me how you really feel about florence
Nope.
So this is your coming out. Lovely.
Thanks for the 'word' of the day the _antibob! The cover art looks like what Google finds with an image search on Pre-Raphaelite Banshee - and that's enough for me to go +1 on this cut...call it an 8 and LLRP!!
I'll be in my bunk....

Congratulations!
I like this in small doses. I don't think I could do a whole Florence album, too exhausting, too much angst in one sitting.
That's certainly true about the way you complain about things you don't like.
Oh, you meant the song. Well, at least there is symmetry, if only from your perspective.

No, "All the songs are the same." can't be true subjectively, either.
Depends on the sedatives.
Yes. But it can be true subjectively. Maybe it's just that all the FAT M songs on RP sound alike to some listeners (including me). But I heard one on the radio the other day that sounded quite different from anything played here and I quite liked it, much to my surprise.

you didn't miss anything
That is objectively incorrect.

Yeah, where's all this Florence-hating coming from?
I don't really get what problem people have with strong female types.
Yes, she's loud, she's unrestrained. She's singing from the gut.
She's not Kate Bush, She's also not Tina Turner or Merry Clayton. She's Florence.
So f-ing what? Do you want her to don a nurses uniform and hand out sedatives?
You can't just don a nurses uniform. It has to be earned with years of hard graft. Pretty much like any artist worth their salt.

Florence is incredible.
Some people get it, some people don't.
Be glad you're part of the group that does.

It just sucks..thats all...no hate...the yelling all the time gets old real fast...thats all..."strong female types"...is she female or just a type? why the anger? its obviously not on peoples palate. Thats all it is. I dont understand why giving an opinion on music turns into why people hate strong female types? Dont like the voice...plain and simple enough?

A nurse's uniform?
Hmmm, well now that you mention it . . .
No hating, just a big dislike.
And I don't see it has anything to do with her as a person or for being a "strong female type"
You can't force people to like some music, if it doesn't feel right to them.
No matter what arguments could be made.
Yep, my sentiments exactly. Well said.

She can definitely hit all the notes, apparently for some, it sometimes seems like she's hitting them with a 20-pound sledgehammer.

No day
I'm always in this twilight.
Maybe because iTunes provides a convenient little pop-up that announces the song, which is nice when you're working and would like to know what's playing without a bigger interruption. Maybe.
There's a PSD button on the Android app. If you're running RP on a desktop/laptop, why not access it directly from the RP website with its PSD button, rather than from iTunes?
This lady has to be the greatest inspiration for all those aspiring musical performers who suffer the indignities, trials and tribulations of shows like x factor et al.
She makes a constipated pig sound like a choir of angels and yet she's making records.
Good luck to her, it is itself a talent of a sort to do what she does, and never give up all of you aspiring musical talents 99.9% of whom must surely be more talented than Florence.
Your perception level appears to be exactly the same as that of an X Factor judge.
The song is not terrible, you are just incapable of enjoying it.
Agreed, it's a guilty pleasure.

(sorry if thats a rude word in your country, but it isn't a rude word in England, and this is written in English).
Leave the eclectic material unmolested.
That's not to say I like this song. I don't.
Still, plenty of people seem to like her stuff; life would be boring if we all had the same tastes.

Did this band get it's start as part of a Broadway musical?
Exactly what comes across to me. Overproduced. Overdramatized.
Personally, still looking for the 11 option on the ratings.
That is exactly the response Flo's singing elicits from me.
Still, plenty of people seem to like her stuff; life would be boring if we all had the same tastes.
I'm starting to get the sense you don't like this band.
What vibrato? Her voice is as steady pitch as anyone I know.

Contested by some but I have no idea else what I would call it. Wobble-Jaw? More-so in her live performances.
She definitely has a unique voice. It equates to nails on a chalk board for me though.
Edit:
And her yelling..

Any relation?
