Down by the river by the boats
Where everybody goes to be alone
Where you wont see any rising sun
Down to the river we will run

When by the water we drink to the dregs
Look at the stones on the river bed
I can tell from your eyes
You've never been by the riverside

Down by the water the riverbed
Somebody calls you somebody says
Swim with the current and float away
Down by the river everyday

Oh my God I see how everything is torn in the river deep
And I don't know why I go the way
Down by the riverside

When that old river runs pass your eyes
To wash off the dirt on the riverside
Go to the water so very near
The river will be your eyes and ears

I walk to the borders on my own
To fall in the water just like a stone
Chilled to the marrow in them bones
Why do I go here all alone

Oh my God I see how everything is torn in the river deep
And I don't know why I go the way
Down by the riverside

And reading this story it seems like she definitely is.

Thank you for sharing! A fascinating insight.

Thanks for the link to the article. Very cool that she produces her own compositions. Makes her music all the more intriguing to me. An instant 9.

Delicate and nice tune
So good.
This song has been playing in my head ever since I heard it (yesterday, on PSD). Wow! ♥
More great and diverse music from Scandinavia.
Soo good, I love that sweet harmony  {#Daisy}
I always think this a Jesca Hoop song

She should smile more often. . . . or not.
She's REALLY got the Edie Brickell inflections down pat.... which is a GREAT compliment in my book! {#Notworthy}

nice...  love it...

A bit like Sophie Zelmani but not so good IMHO.

Ha. I've thought the same thing. I think it's the vignette darker shoulder area that gives the illusion of narrow shoulders, where her head is brightly lit. Unfortunate since I got the same vibe seeing the cover art. Really like this and the other tune that gets played from this album.
First time hearing this, very pleasant modulation and a nice balance musically-good tune.       {#Music}

It kinda gets its hooks into you, so to speak.

Even the lone female here is bored (yes chauvinistic comment)

First listen, and I'm liking it... but her album cover image just kills me. All I can see here is what appears to be a very strict boarding school mistress, perhaps with a studded belt in her hand (let's face it, by her expression here she's a no-foolin' around kinda' gal) and she's just told her class "that's enough, children! any more trouble and someone's getting the strap!" Ouch!
Been there, done that. I guess some scars just don't heal.
I still like the song: a 7 for now.
These comments are hilarious.  But...seriously...I do like this one.
Is it just me?  Sounds similiar to Ingrid Michaelson to me—and I like her!  This song is hauntingly beautiful.

As is this one from Ingrid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wBU_GgE3xc
This track is so amazingly average.

She sort of reminds me of Sofie Gråbøl, the lead actor in the excellent Danish TV detective drama, The Killing. Maybe it's their taste in jumpers, maybe their Danish sang-froid. I really, really like the spare minimalism of this song, and the way she sings it. 9 from the entranced yet spooked Nottingham jury.

I'm not sure how any of this, except for the opinion of the music, is relevant.

Must give her more of a listen. This is the first I've heard.

I have heard that here and there, but not pervasively so.  This woman's pronunciation of English words probably has more to do with the fact that English was likely not her first language: she is Danish.

I'm hooked.

Oh, my. That was disturbing (I didn't notice the creature being gobbled up by the owl on the left until I was about to stop looking!). Can't say you didn't warn us.

weird owls

This sounds like it's based on a traditional melody. If not, she's written one of those songs that sounds as if it's always existed — like she's tapped into the human ethos.
thanks for this Bill,my favorite song of 2010.
listening to RP today is like being in heaven.

I wonder if she pronounces her given name "on yes," like one might if she were Spanish. . . ?

I heard this song come on and gasped in recognition. I checked and conclude I must bump it up to a 9 for its light folk vibe

A lovely song and voice. Almost stereotypically Scandinavian in its cool minimalism and spareness, of a kind with Anna Ternheim IMO. RP does have quite a 'thing' for Scandinavian artistes, and has brought us a wide range of singers and bands that otherwise I, for one, would never have heard of. A big thanks, as ever, to Bill and Becky for widening my musical horizons beyond the Anglo-Saxon world. 8 from the entranced Nottingham jury.
