There is a man that I know
For seventeen years he never spoke
Guess he had nothing to say
He opened his mouth on judgment day
I listened with all of my might
But was scared by the look in his eyes
Like he'd already lost the fight
And there was no hope ever in sight
No hope in the air,
No hope in the water,
Not even for me,
Your life serving daughter
I have seen men provoked
I have watched lives revoked
And I looked at my life and I choked
And from there, no more ever has spoke
Why fear death?
Be scared of living
Our hearts are small and ever thinning
There is no hope ever of winning
So why fear death?
Be scared of living
But I won't give up that quick
My life is a candle and a wick
You can't put it out but you can't break it down
In the end, we are waiting to be lit
There's hope in the air
There's hope in the water
But no hope for me, your life serving daughter
Speak minds handed down to you
By the lies handed down by your truth
Your angels that dance at your will
Will mask your scrambling youth
I forgave you your shortcomings
And ignored your childish behavior
Laid a kiss on your head
And before I left said,
"Stay away from fleeting favour"
Oh, pick up your rope, Lord
Sling it to me
If we are to battle, I must not be weak.
And give us your strength, World
and your food and your water
Oh I am your saviour,
Your life serving daughter
There's hope in the air
There's hope in the water
But sadly, not me, your life serving daughter
For seventeen years he never spoke
Guess he had nothing to say
He opened his mouth on judgment day
I listened with all of my might
But was scared by the look in his eyes
Like he'd already lost the fight
And there was no hope ever in sight
No hope in the air,
No hope in the water,

Where has this track gone? I never hear it anymore!
lovely
Moderately catchy hook which she runs into the ground. Song is 2 mins too long.
Awesome voice
sounds like a Townes song to me

First time I've heard this.... too back I can't back up the playlist and hear it again. I'll do some research about her. I think I'm going to remember hearing this for a long time.
Wow. Going to find more.
..shades of Sinead..Eight!..
Where has she been all my life? Chuck out your Tom Waits, your Nick Cave and your Leonard Cohen! The new thrill is here. (Well, maybe keep a bit of Nick Cave)
Thanks for bringing me here PSD which led to a quick check and the discovery of a new Laura Marling album I didn't yet have.
........ am liking this, 8 for me
Very interesting tune.....like the involved lyrics...

everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches be dancing buck ass naked all across the holy moly world like bowlegged gypsy muleskinners and B.F. Skinner... we love this splendiferous song...
Oh Ghost of Big Stud Romeo Tuna, I shall be your Last Serving Daughter.
Big fan of Lazarus and Laura Marling. Loved the X-Files reference.

Seriously. What's not to love?! I miss Romeo, when is he coming back? Or, is he gone forever?

Very nice. I thought I heard one of those Mumford dudes in there; AMG confirms that they are helping out on vocals and banjo too, I think.
The banjo is a Janus-faced instument: it can sound jaunty and upbeat, but at other times, sinister and portending doom.
Think Zep's Gallows Pole for the latter.

tasty.......
marvelous... love it...
Sad passionless gits meh'ing this. I pity thee. Laura Marling is honesty and passion in song. Her words are beautiful and her music moving. I like this a lot.

Laura Marling is one of those artists who come up on RP and I keep going "Oh, who's this, I like this!? Oh, her again?" *makes note to self*
Another RP-inspired aerial piece. Thanks Bill, this is my third time performing in 3 years and each time, your music was the inspiration for the whole thing!

Bill, would love to hear more from Laura Marling, much more!!
I had to check if this was an Ane Brun song I hadn't heard before. I could stand to hear some more of this.
This is what is so wonderful about R.P. New artists every week....6.... At least new to me.....
Ok, this is the 2nd or 3rd time now i've had a "who is that?" moment this month and they've all been Laura Marling songs. Time to head to iTunes Store.
Thx RP.

Wow, this is excellent. very evocative. Love her intonation.
reminded me of that Fiest thing with the drums
It is great that RP finds interesting songs, not just the obvious hits? It makes for a much richer, deeper experience, to my mind. Thanks guys.
Awesome!

This fine song, and the other great music played this morning, is making the day start off well. Thanks RP!
Y-uh uh-K. Make it go away!
I'm sure I should like this better but it's rather blah.
There several songs much better on "A Creature I Don't Know," which she released this year. 7.
