Inside your voice resounds,
Your thoughts realign
Your words recall to mind
Your short sweet life

Hear voices all in time
Hear the words calling
Feel the wave form now, ride the foam,
See the world clearly now

Rising up you float outside yourself
Find the source of light
You fly home, you go closer now
Rising towards the light..

Do i hear Moby "Porcelain"  chords?  Imagine the piano...
I love Washed Out.

Weirdly, I have Portlandia to thank for introducing them to me.

Apparently "Like A Prayer" was in rotation in 2019.  See for yourself:

"Frozen" was being played in 2012, "Rain" maybe once in 2011, and "Justify My Love" was played multiple times in 2003.  But I don't recall ever hearing Madonna on here myself.  I do respect RP for keeping away from overproduced pop music... any artist that leans heavily on session musicians and dancers should really not be on here.

i didn't know that was/is a thing. i'll have to read more.
I like the washy washy thickness… it makes me feel good
sexy song!
If I was one of those people that compared songs I would say that there is a 'Sunset Grill' drum loop buried in there. But I wont make that comparison. ;-)
Bit like Moby. But without Moby. ;-)
This song is mostly a layered wall of sound, but you know what, it works.

I hear synths, drums & vocals....no cars.
that cover is a cheap ploy to get attention.  maybe focus on music and show me you have talent instead of, or in addition to, shock appeal.  I feel like downgrading them for the cheap ploy.
Without trying very hard you can sing Moby's "Porcelain" to this.

I'm a Portlander and yes the shoegazer pop is popular here. For something a little less "meh" I would say give Cigarettes After Sex and Beachouse a listen.

This song is *meh.* But it will lead you to looking up the "Amor Fati" video again, which is perennially exceptional. EDIT: So I watched the "Amor Fati" video, again, then scrolled the comments. One by Luke Rathborne, who is the star of the video: "i took so many pills i cant remember being in this video anymore.." LMAO!

Yes, I also thought this was Moby- sounds very Porcelain-esque.
Nice. It's on my favorites list (I'm having a first listen to my very own favorites channel- what a brilliant feature to add to the site Bill and Becca!)

Doing smartly today Mr G. - Catherine Wheel, Roxy Music and now Washed Out.  Nice one, thanks for another top afternoon's tunes.  Can't find the Greene connection with Roxy though.....

Nobody told me that.
This seems to remind me of lots of half-forgotten songs (some of which are mentioned in the comments below. I quite like it. I wonder though whether I would I like it more or less if it didn't remind me of so many other songs from my past.
I had the joy of seeing Washed Out live this summer at Firefly Music Festival...the sky was amazing; the evening, summer sun was coming through puffy clouds onto the audience and stage which made their music feel even more epic than usual. It was the last day of the festival, so most people were hanging out, relaxing on blankets for their set, and I felt bad at times because the applause was so subdued after each of their songs, but it was because they were putting all of us in this amazing trance-like state.  Great band, great show!

I liked the song before I saw the cover. Kinda dreamy ambient style. Gonna give it a 7 for now.

But the typographics is weird: "WAS HED OUT?"

Beefsteak or heirloom?

I like it less than when I first heard it. Kind of conventional. Which is to say, not all that unique.
I like this "new" dream ambient wave style

Eye to Eye
by David Bottoms

Suddenly I noticed the silence—the robins, jays,
   mockingbirds
all gone quiet, the cardinals and song sparrows quiet.

Then, as Jack and I turned onto the homeward loop of our
   walk,
the sky startled us with a shriek—

two hawks circling above the pines, screaming from tree to
   tree,
two hawks from the heavy nest

above our neighbor's house, screaming then going silent
in the branches of a Brandford pear.

We crossed under that tree and stopped to catch
the larger hawk, the female, eye to eye.

Jack sat by the curb and stared. I stared.
And, head cocked, leaning forward, she stared incredulous,

working her jaw, quietly, nervously.
I made faces, snarled, bared my teeth, and the hawk

never flinched. Only stared until those orange inflamed
   eyes
became the terrible jaundiced eyes of my father

that final moment he raised his lids.
(The silenced voice tells the truth.)

Like my father's jaw, her jaw trembled.

if you like this, give a listen to "Feel it all around' the great groovy theme song for Portlandia. love the music, the vocals not so much.

Good call.  Vocals sound like they were recorded from the far end of an echo chamber, very like 10cc.

Thanks for pointing that out - I just assumed that it's recent addition was from my LRC upload, but you are right, it is still "Reviewing" (with a damn high rating) after over a year in LRC-land.  Now I'm going to get an "Already Have" and my soul will be crushed once again...
