Like a far flung star
There you are
Littlest than before
As you slip from my fingertips
Left me here on the burning shore

Searched and searched
Ah, you were worth so much
More than you ever thought you were
Everything you believe I still carry with me
Broken down on the burning shore

And it must have felt much easier
To have the stars along your side
And it must have felt much easier
To have the world along your side

A Daddy's girl
I see you curl
And sleeping on the floor
Maybe you dream a little dream of me
Down here on the burning shore

Yeah, there you are
Attached to a star
Beyond the point of no return
Maybe you ought to spare a thought
For those of us down here who never learn

And it must have felt much easier
To have the world along your side
And it must have felt much easier
To have the stars along your side

That is exactly what just happened to me.  It isn't on my regular rotation, yet every time I hear it I get reeled in.   Just a very beautiful and pleasant tune.

i hear it a bit with the phrasing and stuff.

this one is hard for me. i rated it a 9 some time ago, but i don't remember doing that. it's a strange song to me today, and i gave it a 6 for now. i bet next week i'll change my mind again. i do like nick cave a lot, so i'm not sure why i'm so confused over this one today!
nick cave is inside ..... great

LOL!  Bringing up memories of being 16 and and trying to grab my favorite songs off the radio onto tape so I could listen to them in my car.  That's something the whippersnappers don't get to experience.

Did the same myself back in the day myself.
Found the local NPR station (KUNC) that played an eclectic mix which became the source for my tapes.
Thankfully on RP today we can just download a cache of favorites to enjoy.
Hello nick
Sounds like Nick Cave . . . oh, never mind.

I thought I was listening to Alejandro Escovado, from the Boxing Mirror.  Glad to hear the sound of someone new to me.

I just went 8→9 on this gem of a track.  Maybe part of the appeal is the unheardness nature of it; in fact if you were to ask almost anyone who "Grinderman" is, you might get an xxx type of reply.

LONG LIVE RP!! (and yes, I do like to make up words)

Any luck finding this? I would love to have it.

perfect weather outside on an outstanding day yet these lyrics easily bring tears, written a while before the loss of a son

strong artist

Her blackness is far from the most striking aspect of that image. I suspect you are just trolling.

I find the cover to be challenging, like the music.

Great song Bill.  Thought I had all of Grinderman in my collection, but that one eluded me

Sheesh..  each artist has their own motives, beliefs,  and convictions.  Art is a very personal thing and you have no idea what that represents.  Are you sure this artist is a racist... get over yourself.
Haven't heard this one in a while. Great song.

I love Mondays like this :)
Hard to listen to this now knowing that Nick and his family have just lost their 15 year old son. Thoughts and prayers go out to them as they weather that inconceivable storm.
So sorry to hear about Nick Cave's 15-year-old son passing away.

As the father of two teenagers, my heart goes out to the family.

And here I thought all of Cave's G- man stuff was noisy.

Bump. Yes indeed there is, and more to come I'd guess. Saw Nick and Warren in concert this week. . . they (or their foreheads) did not disappoint.
I'm a fan of Nick and all his various musical endeavors, but this song seems to be a bit overplayed on RP lately...

I think the tormented voice of Nick is really Slim Whitman, too old to still hit the high notes.  Tormented indeed.

Slim could always hit the high notes.  You are apparently not familiar with his work.

I'll second that second. I'd love to hear more form this album. Especially since I just went to Amazon and saw how much it would cost to buy it. {#Eek}

Great, great song. Hearing this on RP made me go out and buy the 12" single.

having scrutinized at length the cover art, I conclude that the color of the hair is not quite right to match the mouth and eyes.

Very cool - was not aware of yet another Grinderman disc - excellent! I expect this is among the 1-2 calm ballads on the album - excited to hear the more hardcore tracks I'm sure are also on the disc!

as rzuphal pointed out, this isn't a new album, it's a red vinyl single or something. Song's from 2010 but could be a different version, what do I know?
