The sun shone high those few summer days
Left us in a soft, wide-eyed haze
It shone like gold
It shone like gold
But just as the moon it shines straight
So dawn goes down today
No gold can stay
No gold can stay
What if our hard work ends in despair?
What if the road won't take me there?
Oh, I wish, for once, we could stay gold
What if to love and be loved's not enough?
What if I fall and can't bear to get up?
Oh, I wish, for once, we could stay gold
We could stay gold
We're on our way through rugged land
Top of that mountain we wanted to stand
With hearts of gold
With hearts of gold
But there is only forward, no other way
Tomorrow was your hope at the end of the day
And gold turns gray
And gold turns gray
What if our hard work ends in despair?
What if the road won't take me there?
Oh, I wish, for once, we could stay gold
What if to love and be loved's not enough?
What if I fall and can't bear to get up?
Oh, I wish, for once, we could stay gold
We could stay gold
All of my dreams, they fall and form a bridge
Of memories where I can get back
All of my dreams, they fall and form a bridge
Of memories where I can't get back to you
What if our hard work ends in despair?
What if the road won't take me there?
Oh, I wish, for once, we could stay gold

Bravo! I have never understood how someone can hate the Oilers or the Mets or any sports team.

I can't understand why people write comments to say they hate some song or somebody's voice or whatever - so your tastes don't run that way - why do you think anyone would possibly care? If you have an intelligent comment to make, please make it - if all you want to do it say how much you hate something - please keep it to yourself.
Noting that most people have nothing better to do. Sadly. There is a magic that occurs between two-part vocal harmony.
Sharp harmonies. Love it

The band name rocks.
They're excellent escape artists too.

This one gave me the thoughtful chills...lovely, though.

This is beyond unreasonable. I tried to get to their website and ended up at the American Red Cross site! Some first aid kit. The software is showing some sloppiness.
:-) Loving the Robert Frost tune...
Diggin' the groove!

I saw the same similarity, big even, but it doesn't bother me because I like Alt-J ;). For the first listening I put a 6, but I'm sure that it will go higher and higher if RP is broadcasting them again, and often.
Channeling Alt J in some of that extended oohing and aahing.

I'd really like to hear a Tom Waits cover of this song.
Who's this, the Everly Sisters?
An american friend recently told me about this amazing Swedish duo he had seen in a concert in Uppsala, when I listened to the songs I encouraged him to listen to RP as I saw the matching, and now that I hear this song here the circle closes.
Their songs are really soulful, great discovery!

Sorry to the haters and all, but I adore this album. Great voices, great harmonies, great melodies. Listen to Cedar Lane for the best track from the album.

I thought the same - saw them live at the Greenman festival in Wales where they blew everybody away - now I love them
Give them another go or even better see them live - hope you will enjoy
I hope you recognize now that the poster you responded to specializes in dragging down everything that does not appeal to him (I assume a male; this sort of aggressive negativity does not seem to be found in women). Nice try to be sensible though.

Portland Maine, that is
Wow, these folks sound like they are straight out of Portland, which is not a bad thing at all.

Wow, these two are versatile. Listen to Cedar Lane off their new album, fantastic and completely different genre altogether.
This doesn't sound anything like First Aid Kit.

I will need a first aid kit for my mind after subjecting myself once again to this terrible band. I tried. They fail!
RP.. Please help??

Saw them two weeks ago. Of all the concerts I attended I never encountered such great singers. They have voices like angels. Never miss a note.

Heard "First eight Kids' and did a double take. First Aid Kit is so much better.

Given the present amount of music in that area, I'm not sure if there's one specific "Portland sound", though I suppose it depends upon who you ask. It seems as if many of the artists from there have pretty diverse styles. Anyhow, these folks are from Sweden, and this sort of sound goes way back into 1950s and '60s folk music for its roots. Despite what some may believe, acoustic guitar music was not invented in Oregon.

Obligatory for something with this title:
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
One of my faves, of course I'm not alone in that, but still. I was reminded of it by the album title on another track, too. Good memories. :)

Really liking this whole album. Beautiful harmonies, good lyrics. Not a lot of variety, but there's enough change of pace to keep it interesting.
