Calm the quickening feet that fall
Calm the gathering rain
Suffering as I suffer you
You when you speak of pain
If I was, if I am, if I did, if I have

Calm the quickening feet that fall
Hide behind you
Calm the gathering rain
Suffering as I suffer you
Will be tied in the river
You when you speak of pain
If I was, if I am, if I did, if I have

Raise your banners and ride to war
Just unrighteous
Scouring around your name
Fortune finders
See the damage of challenge raised
Just unrighteous
Oh, sudden leave your blame
Fortune finders

Pick up my roots and now leaves are dead
They tumbled down in bruise of all the blood I bled
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

If I want, if I am, if ever did, if I ever had
Pick up my roots and now leaves are dead
They tumbled down in bruise of all the blood I bled

LOVE this song! Corrections to lyrics:

Come the quickening feet that fall
Come the gathering rain
-
Hearing you speak of pain
-
Hard behind you
-
Woe betide you [not Will be tied in the river]
-
Just and righteous
Throwing around your name
Fortune find us
See the damage of churlish rage
-
Saddle me with your blame
-
You cut my roots and now my leaves are dead
They tumble down in pools of all the blood I bled
Simply gorgeous harmonies, orchestration, all of it.
I love the clarion call of their voices. This reminds me of a lovely four-woman a capella group Vida & their rendition of the Hungarian folk song Molih Ta [correction: Ajde Red]. The sharp, clear, trumpet-like voices are very similar.
Great song. Definatley hearing Laura marling influence. I saw them support first aid kit a few months ago, very impressive live.  Mesmerising!
I had not heard of them.  Thank you RP.  Would love to see them live.
Hey-Whats the mather? its a bad Song to
The sisters have jumped the pond and have settled in Minneapolis...
nice PSD landing for me
I don't mind if they can channel Joni all night !
unusual sound. A note on pronunciation - Hertfordshire is pronounced Hart-ford-sher and not Hurt-ford-shyer
Less like Joni Mitchell, more like a younger version of the Wailin' Jennies.

I actually bought this song on first listen. Love these ladies and hope to hear more of them.

And yes, the songwriting and lead singer sound very much like Laura Marling. Which is a good thing, of course.
definately need more from this album
Joni Mitchell, yes.    Lovely voice, keep this group in the rotation.

Hate that it ends so soon.  8
Reminds me some Kate Bush songs

Good stuff - before I looked, I thought "is that Laura Marling"?
8 from me.
It gets an 8 from me, first time through.  I can see where people think it sounds like Joni Mitchell.  I grew up with her music—I hear it, but Joni is just a titch smoother, and she pushed the envelope a bit further as far as going up and down the scale quickly. This one has a little grit, and I like that.  The backup is nice, too.

This sounds good but feels kind of creepy..  or maybe it's just the dogs rummaging through the scrap iron outside as the moon fights through the storm-swept clouds and I realize I've run out of bandages.

Tell me more...

I really like this song.  That being said, this picture reminds me of the Mercyhurst College Talent Show.

I see more of Laura Nyro. Theatrical.

Yeah, me too! At least for the first few bars. Similar effortless contralto range.
Why don't you folks like this song as much as I do?
