That keeps filling our heads full of lies
Can we trust in new directions
When their promises are in disquise
Well someday the truth will catch up
I just hope it don't catch us all by surprise
They preach this thing, religion
But we show no faith at all
Follow suit on Sunday
But on Monday forget it all
If the times should find us needing him
Then my friend, Lord have mercy on our soul
It's the same old wine
In a brand new bottle
It's the same old wine
In a brand new bottle
Teach our children virture
Then send'em off to war
Then we ask ourselves the question
What and the hell are we fighting for?
If you suddenly find a reason
Well don't be afraid to open the door
Well don't be afraid
It's the same old wine
From a brand new bottle
It's the same old wine
From a brand new bottle
The same old wine
From a brand new wine
The Jim Messina guitar.
Ya hear in alot of different places.
thanks Bill for playing this tonight; hope for us all that the brand new bottle wins out tonight.
Same, same tonight.... (and I'm guessing, for the same reason).
Gotta turn on the big speakers and open up the rest of the windows.
but I guess the term should be "Glazed"
I don't recall this Loggins & Messina.
Thanks RP..........digging this track
this is one of the many reasons why i love stations like this and given up on commercial music radio
Played in/founded Buffalo Spingfield and Poco.
WOW! Great band, great memories! RP is the best radio on the planet.
Indeed to both comments!
when was the last time you heard a piano-pedal steel-guitar jam in the middle of the song?
That's why the 1970s were soooooo great for music.
I don't recall this Loggins & Messina.

The piano playing on this song is tight.
Ha!
I just drank half bottle of a Merlot last night and it had that "sludge" at the bottom of the bottle. Never quite sure if you consume it (the French say yes) or not (Americans say no).
I love RP surprises. Zero clue as to who this was. Absolute delight when I saw.

If you've got a couple of hours to relive that 'Sitting In Again' concert it's really good. https://youtu.be/DRGjiUklBB8
The mandolin player is Gabe Witcher - from Punch Brothers (which also has Chris Thile and sometimes Steve Martin)

Timely as ever, sadly. Same old wine indeed.

Wow I am 65 and have never heard this! Thanks again RP.
I'm almost 70 and never heard it either. This is why discriminating music lovers listen to RP! Thank you, Bill & Crew.
Damn, this just sizzles, now more than ever... Some of my friends' older siblings and/ or parents had works from this popular duo on their record shelves, and of course, "Your Mama Don't Dance (& Your Daddy Don't Rock & Roll)" as I seem to recall was on the 45 if you peered deep down into the machine, was on the radio and every jukebox through the mid-'70s, but this song didn't get much if any play then. The Viet Nam War was nearing The End, protests had lost steam and faded, and new distractions came along, such as The Arab Oil Crisis... --Wait, what --? Have we been drinking the same old wine, all this time? ...Same as it ever was... Same as it EVER was...
This song got plenty of play at my house.
This
1972.
The Trouble has been slowly
rolling our way
since then...
Wake up, folks
the Trouble is Here
How this is still relevant...
Nothing has changed.
Pay Attention, folks

Right; this ain't the "same old wine", it's the worst wine ever.
Huh?! I had most of the albums of both bands, Elton John and Loggins & Messina, and have seen them each in concert multiple times from the 1970s through the 2000s. There is no resemblance whatsoever between them, other than that they play rock 'n' roll and have many instruments! Your comment makes it clear you don't know either band very well, especially Loggins & Messina. Do your homework, man!!
Agreed. There may be some sounds akin. But that was the sound of the day, and it was pretty badass.
I think some people just like saying stupid shit to prove they're stupid. Don't let them bother you too much. But feel free to ridicule mercilessly.
Not good for the work ethic...

Awesome song ... thanks for playing this!

What are you fighting for?
For "Your Mama Don't Dance and Your Daddy Don't Rock and Roll" they must never be forgiven
