How about a Jazz AND Blues channel!   With some Chet Atkins, Patsy Cline & Stephen Grapelli thrown in!

Dear William.
Absolutely lovely, thank you .

I giggled reading this before I even noticed the R.I.P.

Definitely something off key but it's not the song!
Gorgeous accompaniment to a stormy day. Thanks, William. :-)

I want to know who the heartless asshat is that gave this comment a thumbs down.
Definitely not "out of tune"!
like it because you can  fly, danke and Dream great with this Sound,  music
Great musician, but what an asshole: https://www.independent.co.uk/...

“It was at this point that Getz called Creed’s office. Betsy, Creed’s
secretary, took the call. Creed was out of the office. When he returned
and she told him Stan was anxious to talk with him, Creed thought Stan
must be calling to see that Astrud got some share of the royalties. On
the contrary, he was calling to make sure that she got nothing.”
Truly hot stuff and thanks for going back to this world.  But if you're going to do Stan Getz and a samba, I want to hear some Vince Guaraldi.  Linus and Lucy, maybe, or his astounding cover of the Beatles "I'm a Loser."

Long ago and far away, but music sure can do that to me.

Totally Cool!!

When I was a kid my step-dad had an LP called Jerry Mulligan meets Stan Getz that I would listen to when he was out of town with the railroad. I have loved Jazz ever since. I love RP!

Just go from the gut!   ...actually this Bossa Nova, a Brazilian form of dance/ jazz music.

GODLIKE!!! ICONIC!!!  Thank You RP!!!
What Leo wants…
Smooth sound, gave it a 10
Serious smoothness.
Such seemingly effortless sax playing! Wonderful.

It's not jazz, it's Bossa Nova.  And you just feel it.  Rate it according to how your skin reacts.
Back in the day they called Getz “The Sound”. And for good reason in my opinion.
Where else would I find such wonderful music? Thanks so much RP.
 lizardking wrote:

I'm also hearing the hiss of the reed in the sax....this track, with all it's hisses, is pure bliss....9+....Long Live RP!!

That hiss is usually called a "spitty" sound.  It's usually a build-up of moisture (saliva and condensation) around the reed.  From what I understand it occurs more frequently for players when they play in sub-tones, like Getz often did.  It seems to be a bane for most sax players but it almost seems like a lot of the jazz players of Getz's era weren't bothered by it, maybe for its "raw" or "real" sound.

This ain't jazz friends. It's bossa nova yo.
I'm enjoying my nice Woodford Reserve bourbon buzz listening to this!

Beautiful Stan Gets version!  This composition is from Tom Jobim. A fantastic Brazilian musician!
I suggest that RP should play more Brazilian music. And there is much more beautiful music in Brazil other than "Bossa Nova".

You just have to improvise I guess ;-)

I wanted to comment how great the guitar sounds on this one, so close to improvising my 9 to a 10....Long Live RP!!

Too rhythmic and consistent to be hissing to me.

Stan “The Sound” Getz. It does not get much better. Thanks for playing for me when I was a child dad, RIP. Thanks Bill for keeping the memories alive!
Can't help imagining a scene from a film which involves Leslie Nielsen doing something at a swanky embassy party which is going to cause an international incident...
Great palate cleaner on a lazy afternoon.  Great classic jazz, love that you can experience that here.
always good.
Wonderful.  Brings back great childhood memories.  Still fresh.
This is the first time I'm hearing this piece, and I want to turn up my PC speakers loud enough at work for my neighbors to file a complaint with HR.
One of the best jazz.
I have LPs that hiss tick crackle and pop Kinda like Rice Krispies

Great musicians I'm sure but this is one of those that leaves me cold, well more than cold really.  Although as I write this the change in tempo gets better, that bossa nova thing just really grates, like a pre programmed keyboard.  But hey, that's what's great about RP, if I'd liked it it would have been a new discovery and that would be good, as it is I can add it to my very small list of RP plays that I really dislike.

Ah, Joe Strummer, balance is restored...

Yeah, that is a great version, but I've always liked this one too.
