Life is a mystery everyone must stand alone
I hear you call my name
And it feels like home

When you call my name it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour
I can feel your power
Just like a prayer
You know I'll take you there

I hear your voice,
It's like an angel sighing
I have no choice,
I hear your voice
Feels like flying

I close my eyes,
Oh, God, I think I'm falling
Out of the sky,
I close my eyes
Heaven help me

[2x]
When you call my name it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour
I can feel your power
Just like a prayer
You know I'll take you there

A mystery everyone must stand alone
I hear you call my name
And it feels like...

[Repeat until the end:]
(Just like a prayer,
I'll take you there
It's like a dream to me)

[2x]
When you call my name it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour
I can feel your power
Just like a prayer
You know I'll take you there

Not for me. I have always loved this song, and am not ashamed to admit it!

Don't feel guilty.
I love this song. The rhythm, the chord progression, the choir. I'm not a christian but I was raised that way and I loved the music. That probably has something to do with it.
This is actually one of my favorite Madonna songs. And it just happened to come on while I was reading a New York Times feature article/interview with her. I am one of those 80s gen-Xer women who had a love/hate relationship with Madonna. Loved her...then thought I despised her for awhile, then came full circle again, loving her music, appreciating her ground breaking performances, and realizing how actually intelligent and complicated of a human being she is. Not perfect, not flawless, but I think overall a good force in the world in more ways than one. The article is worth reading.

...why I was so stoked when Nirvana, grunge and alt rock hit the scene and made the 90's
Great song! Learning and playing this tune in a cover band cemented this sentiment. The 'darker' sections and choral parts towards the end are just awesome fun!

The success of this silly song will always be a mistery to me.
Madge is what the kids call a "Thirsty" joke nowadays, but I must admit this is a good song.{#Redface}

No, no, no, no! What’s next, Britney Spears?? I hate to say it, but it is time to re-assess my contribution to RP. Might as well put on Magic FM Uk for free to listen to this drivel.

I hope your re-assessment resulted in an increase in your contribution!!    Let's face it where else would you get the sequence Bill & Rebecca played today - Massive Attack, Counting Crows, Greg Brown, Radiohead, Madonna, Van Morrison, Jill Barber.

....hello RP.....are we reaching........are you doin alright?.....or has some obscure pirate took control of your servers....

i take this as a joke - cannot imagine this minor crap stay on the playlist

I kind of doubt you are hearing this specific song everywhere, after all, it is 20 years old.  However, I do not disagree with it being something  I would prefer not to hear on Radio Paradise or anywhere else for that matter.
we listen to Bombino here, so not sure why Madonna is not accepted :)
This is NOT why I listen to Radio Paradise. If I want to hear Madonna I’ll tune in one of the garbage radio stations in my area.
Didn't like it then.  Don't like it now.
...at least Bill didn't play "Like a Virgin"
Thanks a lot RP for switching to the 'real' (i.e. album) version of this song - which, after all those years, makes me dance and brings tears of joy into my eyes at the same time

I hate religion, but black jesus....that was fun.

Bill's got religion.  Or a fever.

Wow!  I think this is the 1st Madonna song I've ever heard on Radio Paradise in at least 5 years of regular listening.  Glad she finally got included in the mix/rotation party!
Um, yeah, super unexpected. I think I can do without though.
well ...this is unexpected! ... but, then again, that's what Radioparadise is all about ... the unexpected... thanks Bill ! :-)
