In the bus I sleep all day
In the back I am, uh huh
Everybody wants to know my name
I give just a sliver to them, uh huh
That’s the way, that’s the way
I’ve been taught I am
Any day, any way
I drink a fifth before 3 pm

Little girl with a buck knife and a fake ID, mm hm
Sleeping bag and a backpack in the big city, mm hm
And tell me why, well don’t it look like
I’m always crying
You try to hide when you’re high
Baby I know you’re lying

Well it’s a hawk moon
And it’s just begun to rise
Here’s a silver spoon
So you could gouge out both your eyes
I couldn’t believe them when they’d say
Watch out
I’m becoming the kind of girl
That they warned me about

And you’ll never know the way I miss
Miss Jonathan, mm hm
She was beaten in the street and then
I never saw her again
She opened up my mind in the holes of
Her fishnet tights
Dildo waving on her car antenna
And I coulda ridden shot gun forever

She’d say
Oh baby, where do you wanna go?
I know a place no one will ever know, well
Oh baby, where do you wanna go?
I know a place no one will ever know

Well it’s a hawk moon
And it’s just begun to rise
Here’s a silver spoon, you could eat your heart out
As a prize
I couldn’t believe them when they’d say
Watch out
I’m becoming the kind of girl
They warned me about

Not the most flattering image of Alynda on the band's Wiki page, but I still love that smile and her overall vibe
The expression on that album cover! That's like first-person perspective from the POV of a waiter who's just told his heavily hungover patron that they've run out of coffee, would she like decaf?
Apparently I gave this song a 7 when I heard it before, but when it came on just now, I knew I needed to give it a 10.
I hope to see them live again!!!

"Dildo waving on her car antenna"

Lol... love it.
Excellent.

If only you could be so lucky as to hear it so often.

Actually been around for a bit. Now just gaining the much-deserved attention
Are we sure that isn't Aubrey Plaza on the cover?
best new RP song!

Do we have to hear this song every single day?
loved this tune when RP introduced it to me, saw them live in Brixton London tonight, excellent performance and so so talented. She said it was the biggest venue she’s ever played, which is surprising to me.
11!
Wow the imagery - lyrics take me right back to living in a Gastown Warehouse space - early 90's. Its' like an ode to the garishly gritty, sparkling and shitty paradox of living there then. It's a Headspace, that's for sure. Liking this!
Not mincing words here! "Accurate depiction of the human condition", one of Bill's better ones!
One of my favourite new bands - thank you RP!  Again!
Simply wonderful!

Me likey.  Tuneful and hooky.  Another first for me on RP.  (And a '24 track right off the digital presses...) I hear her own sassy self, but also coupla twangs of Lucinda Williams in there.  Play it again.

I agree!  Nice tune.
Very nice tune.  Opening for Norah Jones on her summer 2024 tour, looking forward to it.

.......now a few months later and I can report what a great show it was! Looking forward to more from Alynda.
This is an excellent album. I don't know just how excellent yet as it's still growing on me!

Only thing wrong with the album: it's too short.
Wow! Says it like it was.
Gorgeous song from a truly wonderful album that will break your heart...
I like everything I've heard by this artist so far... She really has an incredible voice, to me. The twangy, wistful music hides some dark themes in this one...
Song just released 3 days ago!  Wow!
Got some actual swing to it.  Love to see the youngbloods doin' it for real.
Shades of Sarah McLachlan in the vocals. Nice!
First comment! Let's start discovering this new group. Thanks Bill.
