Mornings turn to night, and then the night becomes the day
I can't keep with up with time
I keep losing, still keep hoping for that win
And you can't change my mind
Not a slave if I'm already free
Not a captive if it's where I wanna be
(Ooh-la-la-la-la-la)
Then the crowd calls (Ooh-la-la-la-la-la)
Who's gonna catch me when I fall down?
Strolling down these halls of rolling dice and waterfalls
I can't help but smile
Troubled fortunes, lives in shambles underneath the flashing lights
Gonna stay a while
Said what I said, it don't matter to me
Can't be a slave if I'm already free
Can't be a captive if it's where I wanna be
(Ooh-la-la-la-la-la)
Then the crowd calls (Ooh-la-la-la-la-la)
Who's gonna catch me when I fall down?
Battles won and battles lost
I can't numerate the costs, I've lost
I've lost, I've lost, I have lost
Not a slave if I'm already free
Not a captive if it's where I wanna be
(Ooh-la-la-la-la-la)
Then the crowd calls (Ooh-la-la-la-la-la)

Exactly. It’s called 90% imitation.
Just like Cosmo Sheldrake’s pathetic imitation sound. These folks have gone down the same weak path forged by Hollywood’s endless imitators.
Time for something new and actually creative.
his voice has a super retro sound, like Fats Waller or Cab Calloway

Yes, RP has driven itself into the ditch of maudlin camp rehash.
I struggle to overcome my negative internal voice. I don't always succeed and sometimes it bleeds out to pollute the atmosphere. I wish you luck in your journey.

Only the quality of the recording gives away this song's era.
I had to look up to check that this wasn't Woodkid.

I get "Succession theme" every time I hear this. I do quite like the sound of this band and will check them out some more.
Luv it!

Hmm. Who, exactly, is Cosmo Sheldrake imitating? In my book he's pretty original, given that all popular music derives and borrows from other popular music. If you're looking for something completely new then do please post it here - I, for one, would be extremely interested to hear it.
